Fabulous video, Kim! Great tips for layoffs and for life! Every time I got laid off, I could smell it a mile away. The work slow down is a huge tell! One part of you is like 'yay, I can catch my breath' but also......One of them I asked 'what took you so long? I'm very grateful but I know y'all can't afford me.' I've also been a gig worker and freelancer so I know that there is no stable job. Stay strong friends! There is meaningful work out there for you, even if you have to make it for yourself
This video was so helpful! I got a new job working at a big chip manufacturer (you can probably guess it) to get out of an previous unstable job, and they've just announced layoffs! Thankfully I'm fairly financially safe and could get through losing my job now. Have definitely felt that worrying too much just stresses me out even more! Thanks!!💜💜
I would also say try to get a second stream of income pre layoffs if you have the bandwidth to do so. My freelance work has helped a bit it’s not as much as working full time but it something and every bit counts after a lay off.
@@bymyrap absolutely great advice! I've been trying to figure out how to do that better. RUclips generates a teeny bit of income but not as much as I'd like so I definitely need to figure that out.
Preparing for a layoff starts on day one of your new job. Do not have any dependents. Use public transportation. Live in a studio apartment. Smoking and drinking are out of the question. Prepare for having to move out of the studio and rent a bedroom in someone's house.
About the partner, you must have a spouse who is working and supportive. There are people who married to unsupportive spouses with one not brining in income. In general, it is good to have a good support system. I think tou are doing pretty mich everything right. Good luck on tour job search.

I'm on a lot of subscriptions!
Yea it's easy to be subscribed to so many things. There are tools out there to help clean it up but of course, it costs money lol
