Mine came into today. I am a very active Ham operator. Current main HF rig FTDX101MP and it has the best receiver for a transceiver in the world. So the bar was set really really high in receiver performance , filtering and noise mitigation etc. This thing blew me away, I don’t know how they did it. It’s that darn good. No it’s not as good as a $6,000 transceiver but in normal operating conditions it’s close enough. Love what you did to make all these vids for the DSP2 and showed what it truly can do and how it differentiates itself from the pack and know one in this league for price/performance/portability.
I think the DSP2 is an incredible value. By comparison based on the receive quality and options compared to the 7610 and, you can carry it with you. What more could you ask for.
Thanks for these vids! I’ve been testing my Malahit DSP2 finally received after 2 month wait! I absolutely can’t believe how well NR reduces noise on this thing. I’m using a ga-800 active loop and it’s a great combination with the radio. I’ve been comparing with my kenwood r5000. Look forward to future videos! 73’s
Hi, may I ask if your are using and having success with your GA active loop indoors or outside? As I’m getting almost nothing at all indoors using the pull up antenna. Was about to send my new MALAHIT DSP2 back cos it’s so incredibly deaf!!
@@Lostoldman Any improvements so far? 😊 I love mine, just got it in 2 weeks from the order! 1. Try the evening hours, on 3, 7Mhz, LSB on the ham bands. 2. Noise Reduction (NR) on, PRE amplifier on.
another great video, i get tons of Airband activity on 129.375 which is RAF Swanwick, they deal with absolutely tons of air traffic control and it booms through here in Plymouth, keep up the good work, 73's M7BBM
An excellent video would be comparing the ability to pull in weak signals between these two! I found the Malahit DSP2 does very well between RF gain, and preamp for pulling in weak signals, and NR is like magic at times in silencing the noise. How does the 7610 compare?
Returning to the hobby after several years. How would the performance of the Malahit DSP2 compare with an SDR from SDR Play? I realize it's apples/oranges in terms of form factor, but I don't really need the portability of the Malahit.
The audio on THIS ICOM sounds the same as on my ICOM 7300, TINNY. I think that's because of the speaker location. The Malahit has excellent sounding audio...!!!
I really want one but I still debating if it worth the price tag from the perspective that I can get a Xiegu X6100 for maybe 100+/- USD more (used) and can transmit as well. Plus the X6100 most likely go down in price when the new version comes in a couple of weeks. I think 200-250 will be a fair price but $350 in average mehhh. Plus I can see that as a typical Malahit the touch screen is not 100% responsive. Its cool how wide banded is but...I dont know, I may buy it anyways but I dont feel as usual my credit card wanting to jump from my pocket
Hello and thank you for your channel. I have a couple of questions for you if I may? 1) When I travel I take a Tecsun PL990 for HF and an Icon IC-R20 for VHF/UHF. Watching your videos I'm thinking of selling them and getting the DSP2. Do you think it will do the job? 2) I think you used to have a IC7300 and now have the IC7610. Is the upgrade worth the money in your experience? Thank you, best wishes and 73s M7CZM

Hi,first problem, the Aliexpress link says the product cannot be shipped to selected country (uk). Second problem price is excluding taxes. Does it mean that we have to pay VAT when imported in uk? How do you get it without paying tax? Thanks.

Totally agree I also have ICOM 7610 this receiver sounds just as good plus we get VHF UHF and Ft8/cw decode SDR
your Yaesu FTDX101MP is one of the worse receivers in the world, because it has a cheap commercial A/D-Converter.

Very cool SDR handheld receiver! I like how portable this unit is! 73

Many thanks for showing great bit of kit.

Both very similar
Great demo! I’m still learning how to use it. Yes. It is a good value.
Glad it was helpful!
I’m finding it impossible to use and I’m picking nothing up at all on any band!
@@Lostoldman make sure the correct antenna is selected and the volume is turned up. Are you seeing activity on the band scope?
@@JamesBoddie yes visual activity showing up. But I expected to get some stuff indoors. But nothing
@@Lostoldman when I first got mine, I also thought it was not working but discovered the volume control was way too low.

I think the sdr play products are amazing both will do well :ruclips.net/video/zbNr5SJ20SM/видео.htmlsi=zzHHgjoRleZxXe1F
It's not as apples/oranges as you might think (performance-wise anyway), as the Malahit has the same Mirics DSP chip inside as the SDRplay RSP1A.

It's a hard choice .
By the way selecting mode button at times also takes a few taps, so not just you. 👍
Thanks enjoying this device so much .
Malahit has little noise than 7610...HI

Hi,
I need your help. The receiver worked great out of the box. Now not working. I don’t know if it’s faulty or I’ve done something stupid.
These cost over $450 here in the US. I will accept that they are excellent, but that’s way too much for me to spend on a DXing toy.
Hard to find something that receives every band for less .
Is the DSP2 worth upgrading to if you have an older MH clone running 1.10d?
u need dsp2 model

You will love it .
I ditched it.
@@RoelandJansen ,waarom?
Where do you buy a real Malahit not a fake clone?
Everyone one says that this one is better .
EBay like I did and pay highest price possible I then got it next day.

Nice kit
When they say "It's Overpriced" what they really mean is " I can't afford it"
It's very good value people can save .
