Well I know from my personal experience too. When I was young I never noticed anything different even though I was darker than most of my classmates. Then I grew up and started to hate my skin color and then thinking back, I realised I never had this thought when I was a child. It's sad.

I'm sorry but this could be tweaked big time. We can apply the same to prejudices on people in general. Children this age do not see anything beyond what is present to them, the same reason a person becomes 'racist' could make the person discard a lot of people of particular characteristics, as long as they aren't their own. It's ignorance by all means, and if theres one thing a person of a certain ethnicity can't empathise with is definitely race, as they will never be able to achieve that through natural means (as opposite to everything else common to all of us humans). So honestly, thinking of racism or lack of it in this video is a bit partial in my humble opinion, since that kid may not hold a grudge towards black people for instance, but he may yet grow one against people who think differently within the parameters of what is acceptable. Sorry in advance for taking the charm out of this but that's how I feel and I believe we give too much attention to one part of it and not enough to the rest. Colour isnt our only difference. Beautiful video nonetheless.

I'm black, but I'm not from USA. I lived in Connecticut for a few years before returning to Canada. Black people in the states do that a lot. I think they're more racist than white people on average. They go playing as racial victims when things don't go their way. In my short time living in the states, my parents friends were trying to indoctrinate me to be like them. My Christian upbringing was more important to me; "treat everyone the same unless they give you a reason not to".
