How To Extend A Tricky Backdrop in Photoshop

i found your tutorial just before having the biggest nervous breakdown of all times. I had to retouch images with almost none of the backdrop left on the both sides , quite tricky .It literally saved my sanity . Thank you for sharing !

Thank you so much! Love this tutorial. I fixed a really low ceiling that was showing in the background and was able to make it look like 12' ceiling. Saved SO MUCH time. So much better than cloning.

Can you explain why when I use the Marquee tools and I do ctrl T, I pull all sides and not just up like you did?

in the new photoshop version its preselected however you need to unclick "maintain aspect ratio" at the top of the photoshop dashboard where it gives you the size and ratio for the marquee tool. the icon looks like an attachement file. Hope that helps.

@@fatimaphotographyphotocrea6661 Thank you so much! I'm also having trouble trying to color in the backdrop where after it was pulled up from the head. Did you created another layer mask? I wasn't able to refine edge b/c I do not have that button.

@nkaujhnub86 As long as you have a layer mask protecting your subject, you should be able to add any layer underneath it to paint on the area you need edited. I think a new video with the new version of Photoshop is due.
