Nemophila is pure 🔥🔥🔥. Not all their song are this heavy but they’re all fantastic. Mayu’s vocals range from angelic to brutal and she can switch at will. The musicians are all world class. I recommend Adabana (my favorite) or Revive next. Or their brand new one Seize the Fate if you really want your face shredded off.
Japanese metal is the best metal. I also enjoyed your Lovebites reaction. The rabbit hole is deep and varied.

Nemophila is very, very good band! I follow them for a while, and they are "complete package"! Beautiful young ladies, who playing music perfectly and hard! So you like guitar solos, "Seize the Fate" has plenty, beginning, middle and end of song. Also shoutouts for their songs, Adabana, OIRAN, Revive, Hypnosis, Fighter, Style, to name a few. Very diverse band, don't expect every song to have growls & death vocals. Thanks for the reaction.

nemophila is one of the fast rising new bands recently, their members are all from different bands, high level musicians and musical diversity are their characteristics, You can hear a different genre or element in each of their songs.
They just performed at the Aftershock Festival two days ago.

Nemophila are crazy good. (Nemophila-a blue and white flower with five petals representing each band member) They have a banger song list. They had their 3-year anniversary not long ago. If you go back to the start and try their first music video called RAITEI you won't be disappointed. Then there's their covers they did for their fans during COVID. The Japanese band covers they do will open up another new world for you believe me. 💙💙💙💙💙

i suggest "Life" as the next song. one of their slow ballads with a really nice backstory. watch the live version where they'll playing in a circle facing Tamu (the drummer). Every single one of these ladies is amazing by themselves, but when they come together, its something special

  • @kawliga4845
    @kawliga4845 Год назад +14

Nemophila is amazing. One of the hottest metal bands out of Japan. Been around since 2019. These ladies are some kick ass musicians and Mayu the lead singer has an amazing voice. Their first album came out last December and they are releasing another one this Dec 14th. These girls are shredders and are mostly metal but have some good hard rock songs too .They have some amazing, solos too dueling and harmonizing .They also have done some excellent covers on youtube over the last 3 years. From Iron Maiden to Xjapan and all their original stuff is kick ass. For some suggestions try another Shredder "Revive". They also released a new one this weekend while they were playing at Aftershock out in Cali. It is called "Seize the Fate" which is the title track of their new album. "Adabana" is an amazing song along with "Raitei" and "Hypnosis". "Style" is a few months old and reminds me of 90's metal Rap a bit. There is plenty more too and all are very good. There are a number of videos posted of them live at aftershock at the moment but its all fan recorded. ITs cool but not great sound. If you want to see a good audio live try NEMOPHILA / OIRAN [Official Live Video]. It was from back in 21. "Oiran" is kick ass song and the first they recorded I believe. They usually end their live shows with it. Its a banger! Anyway great reaction and hope to see you guys react to more of this killer band.

  • @PaleHorseShabuShabu

Ah, Nemophila. Their origin story is that the vocalist Mayu had left her previous band Lipstick (where she was known as Sindy) and wanted to do a solo show in 2019. She put together a backing band, but they all felt they were too good together for it to be a one time thing. They came to America for the first time as a group in 2022 and played at the Whislkey in Los Angeles, then recently came back and played at Aftershock in Sacramento. From what I understand, Apocalyptica did them a solid and either let them use part of their dressing room or rented a separate dressing room for the ladies at Aftershock. As of this writing, they're taking some time off since Mayu is pregnant and her due date is fast approaching. I think the other four are going to perform an instrumental livestream, but I'm fuzzy on the details there. There's some stuff announced for 2023, too.
Hazuki, the guitarist who winks at 5:14 in this video (hey girl), typically plays Ibanez but sometimes plays ESP. She was in Disqualia and the Li-Sa-X Band, but both of those have broken up, the latter having just recently split.
Saki, the other guitarist, had a few projects going, most notably the band Mary's Blood, nut those projects are either on hold or have come to an end. I don't think I've seen her play anything other than Killer guitars, a company out of Japan.
The bass guitarist, Haraguchi-san, knew Mayu from high school. I know she's been in a band or two before and may have done some studio work. She plays bass guitars from Sadowsky.
The drummer, Tamu Murata, has a strong jazz background, was (is?) a studio drummer, and was in a band I've never heard, Soramimi. I do believe she plays Tama and Meinl. If you ever see a video where someone else is drumming for Nemophila, it's because Tamu was off having a baby.
Lastly, as far as where to go next, I'm going to recommend one of their covers. They've posted a lot of covers during the pandemic but one of their more recent ones shows off their fantastic sense of humor. It's a cover of "Separate Ways" by Journey, and there's a special side-by-side version to react to. Here's the link.

As far as I know, Saki's duo project "Amahiru" with Frédéric Leclercq (former DragonForce bassist) is on hiatus, but not disbanded.
After performing with Nemophila at Aftershock festival last Friday, Mayu is taking maternity leave until January 2023, when they will start a tour of Zepp venues in Japan.
In the interim, the four musicians (Hazuki, Saki, Haraguchi-san and Tamu) will perform an instrumental set without Mayu on December 5th, 2022 in Tokyo.
They'll be back in North America in March of 2023 with shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico City.
The new album is due out on December 14th, 2022.

I discovered Nemophila when their cover of Iron Maiden's Aces High appeared in my recommended list. I have been a huge fan of Iron Maiden since the beginning (I am almost 62). The cover of Aces High absolutely blew me away. The vocalist, Mayu, sang the hell out of that song. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see the guitarist, Saki, in the band since she was , at the time, a longtime member of Mary's Blood. Saki is basically female rock/metal royalty in Japan.
I see that others have suggested the live performance of Oiran as your next experience, and I agree. I don't think anyone has supplied a link, so it is below as well as the link to Aces High

Now that you've heard Lovebites and Nemophila you should complete the holy trinity of female Japanese rock/metal bands and you should check out Band-Maid. They're not as heavy but are the most gifted band on the planet, imo of course. The standard start point is "Domination" live. The Maidiacs will then guide you further.
For Nemophila, I recommend "Life" live for a contrast to what you have just heard. Then maybe "Raitei", "Oiran" live, "Adabana" (perhaps their best yet), or "Demon Light"(Hoozuki).

Oiran live from Naon Yaon. The Japanese girl’s metal scene is pretty mature now at about 15 years and it’s absolutely excellent. The keywords are juxtaposition and joy - two things not found in your average western metal band, and as an old metal head I can tell you it makes you want to listen to music with renewed passion, and it’s not really because they are female or Japanese - it’s just because it’s so good!

@@allanmoger1838 There seem to be a wave of Japanese hardrock and metal nowadays simply because they get exposure online. The metal scene is at least 40 years old, like the metal scene in the west about 50 years starting with Black Sabbath. In fact there hardly is a ´scene´ in Japan since the bands we hear are so different sounding. Only the facts that they´re all girl bands and from Japan link them together.

Oh, shit, you jumped right in the deep end! This is one of the bands to watch, no question, and they just appeared at Aftershock--their second appearance in the U.S. They started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.”
Nemophil-a (yes, not “Nemophil-i-a) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of:
    ex-Mary's Blood guitarist Saki
    ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu
ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X)
    ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and
ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects)
Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized Mayu with some help from Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” ruclips.net/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/видео.html
The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” ruclips.net/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/видео.html
After Oiran, others to check include "Dissension", which will fry whatever is left of your circuits: ruclips.net/video/26aMuahxz8c/видео.html and “Raitei”, which means “Thunder” in Japanese, and yes, they bring the thunder: ruclips.net/video/lh-dVLKP314/видео.html
More recent drops that showcase their intensity and versatility:
    “Adabana” ruclips.net/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/видео.html
    “Style” ruclips.net/video/Aph5GON6rPc/видео.html
    (written by their bassist, Haraguchi-san)
Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. She has already written several songs for the group. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a one of the world’s best metal vocalists.

Nemophila is by far the hottest band coming out of Japan right now, they are so diverse and have such a unique sound. Mayu is a beast and the rest of these ladies are world class players. Next up Revive I love that song pure energy and Mayu delivers an amazing performance. Next new band should be Hanabie ''We Love Sweets'' be prepared for another all girl metal mayhem band. The lead singer in that band will destroy you, and best part she is only 4'10'' tall Rock On and Rock Hard

despite the fact that the singer is heavily pregnant the girls played at aftershock 2 days ago as did BAND-MAID. both bands absolutely killed it. NEMOPHILA recently redecorated on of their songs in English. The baby is due in March. the drummer has a toddler and a baby. NEMOPHILA has been together for 3 years and BAND-MAID will celebrate their 10years anniversary next year.

Back in 2020, I was ready to trash them on an Iron Maiden cover, as I'm a huge Iron Maiden fan... Yeah right, a cover of a Beast singer, a beast drummer, a beast bass player, pretty good guitarists... sure girls... They went within the first minute to "girls" to Ladies in my book, fell in love with Mayu's voice almost instantly, and never ever since it disapoint. Nemophila fan since. Their very first RUclips video was a cover of "The Trooper" and now they are easy in my top 5 bands ever almost 3 years later.
Anyway, you put a foot in that rabbit hole, the ground disapeared under your feet, you are now deep in it... good luck going out. We are many down there, trapped, but with no intentions of going back to the surface.
Anyway, if you want to have some other japanese band with absolute monsters in all their positions, you should go check Unlucky Morpheous.
That band will have an other surprise for you as far as instrument used in metal. Sometimes used, but rarely full time to that level within the band itself.
One of their latest MV outside of live, "M" Anthem ruclips.net/video/WoUzaVI0paY/видео.html
Or Black Pentagram live... just to see how bad they sound live... and by bad... I mean Badass 😁 ruclips.net/video/RUiRlUGMTwY/видео.html

I loved watching your reaction and take on this super group. Especially the first transition to clean vocals at the chorus. I have another band, not all female, that has just a hard transition in vocals that you will either love or hate. Try the Song Brainwashing from DEXCORE. It took a while for me to enjoy it but the range on the vocalist is amazing!
Keep up the good work guys!

Welcome to the world of "Idol Metal" newest craze of the Metal genre. Its been going on, for the last couple of years. This is your "A' Typical" combination of various all female band members from other bands, getting together to form that "Entity", that is them. These ladies aren't you typical "Kitty", or "Vixen" types, these ladies are some heavy shit! I've been following the Japanese Metal scene for like ever early 80's to current. Guys, and Gals of this genre. From, "Bow Wow/Vow Wow", "Anthem", "Saber Tiger", "Loudness", to the likes of all Lady, acts, like "Show Ya", "Cyntia", "Mari Hamada", to "Aldious", "Dolls Boxx", "Mary's Blood", and "Love Bites". Not to mention "Fate Gear" and the base of both "Fate Gear" and "Love Bites", the band "Destrose".
