    I Agree: Knobs, toggles, and push buttons should always be a part of the driving experience. It's muscle memory on the road. ✅✔️☑️

    In regards to the interior materials, and specificqally you mentioned headliner, the interior you have is the nappa leather, a $2,290 option on S500s and standard on S580s although much of production after April has had the Nappa grade unavailable and therefore thr S580s have had the base interior with a "Credit for missing standard". This changes the seats from Mercedes' traditional leather offering to a Nappa grade with the beautful diamond stitching, and changes the inner door trim to be a matching leather and stitch pattern, while the rest of the interior remains largely the same as the base leather option (some markets in Europe even have a lower grade Artico/Mb-Tex offering) with MB-Tex on the dash and upper door, plastic on the lower door, and a cloth headliner. Every S580 you have driven has the "Exclusive" Nappa leather, a $3,110 addition (making it a $5,400 option on the 500) which has the same seats, but adds nappa leather to the upper door and full dash, plus it makes the full headliner including pillars is suede and it adds wood and ambient lighting to the bakc of the front seats. I velieve it also changes the lower doors to leather or MB-Tex. It also adds two color choices. While all three interiors (leather, nappa, exclusive) offer the Brown, the Beige, and the red, the Exclusive adds the options for Gray and Red.
    The 2023 model will add the option for "Signature leather), whihc should be the same grade as exclusive naooa but adds special floor mats, two tone steering wheel, and comes in some unique colors inclusing deep white, yellow, dark brown, medium brown, and blue.
    The Maybach meanwhile has an even higher grade of leather and it adds leather on the roof and lower door, plus an optinal Manufaktur leather package adds special pillows and a few othere details.

      What else do you know about the 2023 s580? Should I order one or just get the 2022?

    • @benjaminkohl342
      @benjaminkohl342 Год назад +1

      @@joe_smalls The 2023 is unchanged aside from the new signature interior option and the new plug in hybrid model, as well as different, usually less shortages for options and potentially the new option for rear seat screens on basic models. If any of that interests you, order a 2023. If you can find a 2022 you like and get at or under MSRP (easy on a 500, slightly harder on a 580), just get one that's already out there.

      Ben, really appreciate the detail on the 2022 vs 2023 models. I recently drove the S500 and S580, both 2022 models. Very nice car and the rear wheel steering was amazing. I generally like buttons and screens, but I found the setup in the S class to work very well with the slider switches on the steering wheel, and the large center screen is capacitive, so there is some feel. Do you know the details on the coming plug in hybrid and what sort of electric only range it may get.? Thank you,

    • @benjaminkohl342
      @benjaminkohl342 Год назад

      @@markjames8160 Yes, in Europe the S580e is claimed at 100 km/ 60 miles. I would expect to consitently see 45-55 miles real world, which is pretty amazing. It will be arriving some time this fall and orders are already open.

    Just letting you know that you can option it up to have all the luxury items found in the S580. In Canada this model only comes in the short wheelbase form, and I personally think it is great. Be that as it may, my absolute favourite is the European S580e 4Matic. We are suppose to get that here in North America one day… hopefully sooner rather than later. On a side note, the Lexus LS500h is LESS efficient than the S500. Imagine that!

    That saying at the beginning reminds me of a house down the street from me. Small 1 level ranch but completely remodeled and facelifted. Surrounded by homes going for no more than $150k and in their driveway is a 2022 Mercedes S600 and a 2022 fully loaded Escalade. Just makes me wonder...2 cars worth way more than the house.

    I know these big tablet like screens are the future and I normally upgrade to the new S-Class model change but I might keep my 2018 S-Class because these screens seems distracting and a finger print magnet. Hopefully I'll feel differently after driving one.

    For me, I'd take a de-badged W213 E63. Or maybe an S213 E63 wagon to have something more unique.
    And, yeah, the lack of discrete buttons and knobs is totally verrückt...especially considering the target market.

    Totally agree about the nobs. I had a EQS 580 Pinnacle edition and it was so distracting to even try to change the radio station. The the swipe button on the steering wheel are horrible as well. What was wrong with the last generation like my 2018 S63. The swipe is horrible. And don't waste your money on the mircrofiber headliner ($1,600 option); it is NOT alcantara; it looks cheap. And the charging network in Texas is horrible. Went to Corpus in it from Houston and had 41 miles of range when I got there. It took over 3 hours to charge it up to 100% over 2 days. Only 2 higher llevel chargers in all of Corpus; one at Mercedes and one at Nissan with both being closed on Sunday. Needless to say I sold it after that horrible experience and a HUGE waste of time. No more fully electric cars for road trips! AND, the EQS is NO SClass. Interior is cheaper looking and feeling as well as smaller seats and a much smaller back seat! Well I tried going electric but that was a failure in my opinion. I am not into wasting a lot of my time on a road trip.

    The difference in breaking could come from it maybe having the smaller breaking system installed. I think that the bigger system is standard on the 580. No idea how anyone would spec it with the small breaks, but people do crazier things….
