You have to watch the Forever 1 live stages to experience the true SNSD and Sone experience. It will blow your mind.
Forever 1 is such a great celebratory song! Kenzie, who wrote Into the New World, also wrote on Forever 1, and the music video shows both what careers the members have had away from the group, and references past concepts (Eg. the nautical theme is very Genie, and the hotpants were a staple in the early days!). I also love that the line distribution is pretty fair as well. It's such a great comeback!
Into the New World is ICONIC. I would recommend looking for a performance because the choreo is insane (and apparently really hard!), and yet they are amazing at it because they practised it for 6 months before debuting. And yes, that is Donghae in the Kissing You mv.
I'd love to see reactions to old kpop! 2nd gen has some great concepts and there are some really iconic songs that have influenced where KPOP is today.
I'm pretty sure they were practicing ITNW for a year before debut.

The Forever 1 MV references everything the members have been doing over the past 5 years. Acting/theater careers, solo music, DJ, modeling, travel etc. It’s very sweet
And the award during the bridge is their own award, Disk Daesang, they are still the only girl group to ever win it.

Long time SNSD fan here: Bawling? I've filled my entire home with tears. I'm bobbing up against the ceiling. Even though I never expect anything less than mindblowing from THE Kpop girl group, this song completely wiped the floor with me. It hits every single mark. The production is spotless. The vocals are heart-rending. The visuals fill my whole entire heart. And I'm just so, SO happy to see this 15 year anniversary bring so much joy to people who've never even been into them in the past. Honestly, it's so healing.
Girls Generation is a kpop blueprint, they being a role model of many kpop girl group, they still on top even for 15 years in this industry, please do more reaction about them.

I am also 24 soon and having been a fan of them, SHINee and fx since 2010 hits hard when you see them come back. I seriously need a fx comeback ( i know it wont but yeah). SNSD shaped girl groups (along with fx) for me and this comeback makes me cry each time I hear the song
Kissing You MV is so sickly sweet and cringy but it’s a great concert song. They always did a lot of running around and interacting with fans during it, and they are so good at that stuff, really made me appreciate the song so much more.
ITNW choreo *is* quite a workout, especially the remix version. There is an old clip of the rehearsal for the remix version that used to be very popular in 240p era. It’s an actual rehearsal and not one of those perfect no-mistake versions they do now but it really shows the energy of the song well.
And that mall in ITNW is a pretty popular location in Korea. You could have seen it in Running Man. They shot quite a few eps there including some with SNSD which was a nice reference.
Talking about references, the piano chords from ITNW are sampled during the award scene in Forever1 and it’s such a nice touch. There are lyrical references between two songs as well. It’s very intentional and it works. Fans *were* bawling

Their debute era was not easy! They really worked so hard for their single promotion, got black ocean, got bashed from other boygroup's fandom and many things. But, here they are, survive for 15 years and they're accepting so much love from everyone even till now. Happy for them! #GG4EVA 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
As someone who got into Kpop around 2009 and started listening to SNSD in 2010, this comeback was so satisfying. The album is great, they picked a great title track, and treated us to a new variety show too. This year has been such a blessing as a 2nd gen fan with BIGBANG, 2ne1, Sistar, and now SNSD giving us reunions in some form or another. It’s also heartwarming validation that being in my 30s doesn’t mean I’m some dinosaur wasting away lol
I cried when I heard the song the first time & yes the mv is filled with references to old mvs, the song too samples their debut song INTW and was produced & made by the same person. the colourful outfits & the outfits with the white shorts are throwbacks to old concepts as well. I seriously highly recommend The album because it's great
INTW is like a second national anthem in south korea, it's so big of a song that still big now. one of the best debut songs of all time
Snsd concept back then was minimal makeup. So yeah that is why they all look so natural and beautiful. Yes it was suju Donghae in the Kissing You MV. Loving this deep dive. These girls deserve it!

This is just a random suggestion lol. I recommend watching your videos (especially SM) in chronological order. Kenzie wrote both “Into the New World” and “Forever 1” for GG. Their are actually parts of the song in Forever 1 🥰

Even though if we can't recognise Taeyeon's young face but her vocals are easily differenciable from others. You can easily tell it's her singing. She has always has got that strong powerful vocal tone with lots of resonance.
As a Sone (pronounced Sowon, fandom name) since 2009, when we aren't crying tears of happiness listening to the album on loop, we are laughing hysterically at their variety appearances (if you have a chance, do yourself a favor and check out some shows, the girls are hilarious). Personally I wasn't sure I was going to see Girls' Generation back on stage ever again. Their last release as 8 was for their 10 year anniversary, and historically, girl groups just don't stick around as long as boy groups do. I really thought that was going to be it. It's been surreal, nostalgic and magical. I'm glad newer k-pop fans get to experience our girls, thanks for checking out Forever 1!

For me Taeyeon is the top vocalist in female K-pop. Just the tone and power in her voice is just incredible
If you listen to the bridge in Forever 1 5:04 , the piano instrumental is actually the piano intro in Into the New World 13:13 (and at that time Sunny sings "I get stronger when I think of you" 5:10 which is a lyric from the 2nd part of the last chorus of Into the New World 18:32 )

Maknae Seohyun had just turned 16 only a little over a month before debut. Tiffany turned 18 just days before. Most of the group was 17 when the album was recorded and those songs carried them till Gee in January 2009, which is pretty amazing. I can't speak for the mall, but the stairwell Hyo dances on has been used in numerous SM and others videos. Yes, it's good to be Donghae.
Yes that’s right about SM music, and at the time they were the biggest so they influenced the music of others a lot. Plus they really placed a lot of premium on letting the vocals shine. Even with dance songs like I Got A Boy lol they needed to have that vocal break.
You should listen to the Forever1 album as a whole! The songs Seventeen and Villain, Tiffany and Sooyoung both helped write the songs and Tiffany helped compose Villain! Hyoyeon and Yoona’ rap verses slay!!!

Yes check out the album. There is enough variety in it for everyone. I am older so I prefer Mood Lamp and Summer Night. Definitely enjoyed Villain as well. I believe they are16-18 years old in their debut.
I know Taeyeon is THE powerhouse vocal that everyone knows but people would do well to note that SNSD’s vocal line are still one of the strongest and shouldn’t be underestimated. Jessica carried the main vocal position alongside Tae until her departure and the lead vocals (Tiffany, Seohyun, Sunny) could easily be main vocalists in other groups.
Snsd the reason I’m a kpop fan. Gee is my intro to kpop too. It was when i was 8 years old and now im 20 🥲. Definitely they have a big impact in me
SNSD didn't wear make up during ITNW MV and even in promotions I think to emphasize their pure & innocent concept. That's their natural look during debut.
I cried . .... then just kept playing the songs on repeat. Was supposed to be on holiday but kept on zoning out and slipping into GG world. ... I am still enjoying the euphoria this whole album/shows experience is dishing out .... I will def struggle with withdrawal once promotion ends.
Ugh yes forever 1 is rly one of the best songs this year 😭 And listening to the other songs just reminds me how much I’ve missed them 🥹 I’m rly just so proud that these girls have had such a long lasting career, defying all the odds and stigma against older female kpop idols, and I just wish a lot more newer kpop fans can recognise that this isn’t going to be the case for a lot (or any tbh) of girl groups and give them a little more support and recognition for it 🥲

There was a formula for girl groups during the second generation. Groups started out youthful and sweet, with concepts and lyrical content that matched their age (normally pre-20). As a group matured, their image, concepts and lyrical content would also mature. This gave a nice starting place for groups and also gave them a place to go. Most of this was abandoned for 3rd and 4th gen groups. I personally like the gradual progression of a female idol group. Nothing is worse than seeing new groups dressed like prostitutes with massive amounts of makeup grinding on the ground like strippers. Twice is one of the few that took the traditional route, and they are better for it.
As for their new song Forever 1, well, I am an 11-year Sone, so I cried like a baby when I saw the video. Actually, I cried for most of the first week, even when watching reaction videos. There are other videos I also cannot watch or else the tears will fall. Mostly "Into the new world -ballad live" and "Devine." I have only seen Devine three times, and I refuse to watch it....my poor Sone heart just can't take it...it hurts too much. I have an iPod filled with over 110 individual songs from Girls Generation. Many of those B-sides and especially ballads may be the best work they ever did. Hearing just the title tracks does not do them justice. Thanks for your review of these songs.

you're absolutely right! kpop makeups before were rather light and more natural-looking. what could be considered as heavy makeup would probably be their heavy eyeliners esp around 2012 era wc was full of angst lol so much has changed in kpop over the years so it really brings a good feeling to look back and be able to hear once again what kpop used to sound like haha
You should listen to the ballad performance of ITNW their vocals are so special. And yes 7th album is a must, so good!

Pioneer SONE here since 2007 and I just wanna appreciate you for giving space to a 2nd Gen girl group on your channel but more than that, I am really appreciative of how warm your reaction is, what I meant by that is most of kpop reactors tend to have this “monotone” reaction towards older MV’s, as they are old school and understandably outdated vs the new gen of kpop but as an old kpop fan, it’s a great feeling to encounter reactors that give utmost respect to Girls Generation’s contribution to the kpop industry and embrace for what it was before. Taeyeon is my ultimate bias of all, along with SNSD ofcourse. I also stan IU and the groups I’ve mentioned above. No worries with New Jeans, I’m also a baby NJ and LS stan and still testing waters with their releases. It’s always a hit and miss, it’s understandable. Though for the new groups so far IVE has been consistent with me, love every release! On repeat! As for Taeyeon, I love everything but my holy grail is Purpose album and her S’ Concert. I was physically there and it was the best concert ever! I still have her scented conffetti from that concert. My western counterpart of Taeyeon is Taylor Swift and her 1989 album + 1989 Concert. Now obsessed with Midnights.

Gee was my intro to kpop back in high school too, and then SNSD became my first kpop obsession when I randomly decided to revisit Gee and Genie in years later in around 2016. Didn’t think this comeback would ever happen, it was fun watching it back to back with INTW here (if a little sad realising just how much work a few of them have had done).

i've been a kpop fan since 2009 so in a way, i've seen how kpop has grown throughout the years and in terms of executing concepts, sm has always been consistent in letting their artists grow as naturally as they can. idk if conservative is the right word but i've never seen their artists do concepts that are inappropriate for their ages. except for taemin, krystal, and sulli, i don't think they have debuted artists that are super young and have them do really sexy concepts. (not that there's wrong with sexy concepts, it's just that there are groups then and now that debuted super young but they're already doing sexy concepts which is a no no.)

Stunning song, stunning MV, but the best thing about this for me is exactly what you mentioned about what releases like this might mean for the longevity of some of my favorites. Some have said they want to keep doing this for a long time yet, and I really, really hope that we can compensate a bit for all the kids debuting these days by also enabling groups to remain active well into their thirties, should they be so inclined.
My island retreat got in the way of checking out the album, but I'm hearing great things and am excited to check it out, as well as a lot of other SNSD stuff I haven't gotten to yet. 🔥
Forever 1 is not just an ordinary title track but, it was also a fansong ... a gift for their fans , a celebration for their 15th anniversary.
FOREVER1 is not just a song, it's history.
Their debut song 'Into the new world' has been used during civil rights, women’s rights and during any kind of protest in South Korea! This is also become an LGBT anthem and is played at Seoul Pride.
I hope you explore Taeyeon's 2nd full album the repacked one called Purpose 'cause that's more of the bombastic melancholic sad bops that she perfected.. INVU just mellowed out for me.
I love how Yoona doesn't look like she's been eating ice cubes for dinner for the last month. She's curvy, and that's awesome. And Sooyoung is just mindblowing in every possible way.

I don’t really like how u described her past body… you can praise her figure now but her and sooyoung were always vocal about how hard it was for them to gain weight before she never starved on purpose or anything 🤨
Some girls are skinny but that doesn’t mean they have been eating air. Some people struggle to gain weight too. “She’s curvy and that’s awesome” isn’t a compliment. Some girls are naturally thicker, some are naturally super skinny, and that’s all beautiful.

We are called SONES. Haha i loved the comeback and cried a lot lol, one minute they’re making jokes and the next they’re overwhelmed by memories. The natural look was on purpose for their debut. And the MV for kissing u hahahaha it was like “we gotta be cute but it’s making us cringe so let’s make it funny”
I used to not like Kissing You back when I got into Gee during 2010. But now it's one of my favorites because I think it is a really cute song with a lot of emotion.
I can also agree that they had more natural skin tones in ITNW with Seohyun being the only one with natural fair skin. But then beauty standards happened and some idols either wear heavy makeup to look whiter than their skin tone or get treatment to whiten their skin. Taeyeon looks so pale now compared to the past. But I guess if it makes her happy, it's her choice. I just think beauty standards can sometimes suck. Yuri and Sooyoung (girl you thought was gorgeous) still have their darker skin tones.
The nice thing about their discography is how much their vocals improved. Literally, Tiffany and Seohyun joined Taeyeon for main vocals. Dance line became lead vocals and Sunny is still lead vocals with more challenging parts in their new album. Jessica was the other main vocalist but she's no longer in the group.
New album has a lot of nice songs and but I'm biased and think their albums are the best. I know for sure Girls' Generation have the best ballads in kpop.
i liked Kissing You since then cause the first time i heard it i thought it was an ost song because of how endearing and genuinely sweet it sounds like so i didnt have that kind of 'overly cheesy or cute' experience people usually have with Kissing You in 2008 hahahahaha.

Gee was my first K-Pop song as well... back when it came out. Forever 1 obviously was very emotional. Would love to see more Girls Generation reactions... and other 2nd Gen classics. For example, I loved AOA. Maybe do a regular "throwback" reaction once every week or on patreon? As for girls generation: My favorite MVs (besides Gee) might be I Got A Boy, The Boys, Catch Me If You Can and You Think.
One of my other early kpop songs was AOA's Miniskirt. I used to do a lot of 2nd gen stuff. I think there's more coming via requests but it's largely boy groups

this is objectively not true. There are 3 other groups from SM alone, and even if you just mean girl groups you still have Brown Eyed Girls and T-ARA who had a comeback last year.
