40 yr Browns fan Here. Unfortunately we will never be a solid repeat playoff contender until we do this; 1. We are NOT a superstar QB team. Our best QB was a "blue collar" avg to above avg QB. 2. We never had success with superstar WR..it never worked. Average to above avg WR. 3. Dominate RB. We have that. 4. Dominate TE. We have that. 5. Dominate D line..We sort of have that. 6. Awesome special teams. We sort of have that. 7. Old school coaching. Analytics and timid coaching is not our style. We lost our spirit.
MY high school team (Walsh) would never coach as bad as this game was. Who in the hell calls jets sweep on their own 7-yard line? The coaching is crap. Note to Too Fancy--- Visit an actual Ohio team and you'll see how it's done.
You're correct, the Clowns suck. ( ALL teams have injuries so don't use that as an excuse ) They will continue to suck as long as Haslam is the owner and Depodesta is the major influencer for Haslam. Haslam made a huge mistake when he fired John Dorsey and brought back AB, probably Depodesta's idea. Another huge mistake intentionally trying to de-rail Mayfield's career ( trading him to CAR ) to justify going after Watson. Another huge mistake on guaranteeing $230 million to Watson and dealing multiple 1st round picks to HOU. Another huge mistake not bringing Flacco back. It shows Haslam knows nothing about how football works. I feel sorry for Chubb. His agent should find a way to have the doctors keep him out. He should also ask to be traded. I could say more but what would be the point ? I'm happy to have kicked this expansion team to the curb when Haslam bought it. By coincidence I started following Tampa that year and guess what ? Mayfield ended up there. ( if anyone asks he seems to be doing quite well ) I'm Noah 2023 and I approve this comment. 🤣
Sorry to tell this, the great owner has meddled and the Browns wont be relevant for another 4 years or so. However, he did help the Texans rebuild. Randy Lerner now Haslam terrible ownership. Hire and fire, hire and fire, and in the end nothing changes.
Would you rather root for the Cleveland Browns or the Ohio State Browns?!?! Both underachieve against good teams. Both coaches should be fired. Both teams were overrated. It took just Game 1 blow out against Dallas for Browns fans to realize things don't look good. It took until Game 6 for Ohio State fans to realize the Ohio State Browns were overrated because the first 5 games were against soft opponents.
I'm NO Kevin Stefanski fan, thinking his two COTY awards were laughable, but there is NO WAY even HE is inept enough to keep playing Watson due to it being HIS decision. There is NO WAY upper management is NOT telling him to keep playing him. Now, could he refuse on his principles and take the chance of repercussions? Sure, but that's up to him and not the fans. It's been a colossal mistake, and we ALL make them, and I personally have NO USE for all the people pointing at Mayfield or Flacco now because number one, NO ONE has a crystal ball and can predict the future and number two, it's easy to do the hindsight routine. EVERYBODY would have been a Powerball winner if they knew the numbers ahead of time. It appears this will be the "norm" in Cleveland this year and at least part or most of next year too. Watson will be a bad memory within a few years and they'll plod along.
A bit of trivia. Baker Mayfield today has 4TD's, 325 yards, Tampa Bay puts up 51 points in total offense, meanwhile, the Browns hasn't scored 20 points in a game this season and Watson has yet to throw for 200 yards. Fun fact, Baker threw for almost as many touchdowns in this game (4) as Watson has for the season (5).
It’s amazing how so many fans are ignoring the fact we are playing with 1/5 of our starting linemen. We have no All pro RB/TE like we like usually do (Njoku is progressing with injuries). We have the most dropped catches by any receiver core in the league. We’re tied for 2nd most penalized team in the league. If anyone is blaming this solely on Watson literally don’t understand football. You need all 11 guys on both side of the ball to be locked in
Stefanski got credit last year because Joe Flacco came in and saved his @**. The owner and GM are clueless how to judge talent and character. 1-16, then waste a 1st Rd pick on a loser is this front offices M.O. Sell the team Jimmy!!!
exactly!!! the most fun we have had as Browns fans in 30 yrs and they just go back to status quo, Deshaun Watson. if they wanted to win they would have brought him back and evaluated the talent in pre season and scrapped the the contract to try and win.
You guys are pretty darn close geographically to Pittsburgh. Since you've already stuck your knives in the back of Baker Mayfield and you're getting all the karma you can throw up, it's time to get some black and gold banners and make slightly farther commutes towards winning football. I believe you shouldn't throw money away over there or invest your time there.
