- On November 27,1963, in the wake of JFK's assassination, President Johnson delivered his landmark "Let Us Continue" address. In a speech that Jeff Shesol (former speech writer to President Clinton) calls "masterful", Johnson inspires a grieving nation and pledges to carry forward Kennedy's legacy.

100 young Americans killed in Vietnam when JFK died, 58,000 young Americans killed in Vietnam at the end of the war - a war escalated by LBJ.
"You get me into the whitehouse ill get your god damn war"
Then he systematically did the opposite of what JFK wanted to do.
Yes. He escalated the war in Vietnam. The war made a lot of money for a lot of people who personally knew Johnson. Kennedy wanted to get out of Vietnam.
Thats not true he actually caried out a lot of kennedys policies
Most if not all of Kennedys policies Johnson carried out were non-profitable for him ( Johnson ) and his cronies. Such as The Civil Rights Act, among others. The very unpopular Vietnam war which Johnson wanted, ( and Kennedy did not ) generated millions of dollars for Johnson and his cronies. Johnson carried out Kennedys policies as a front to further make it appear that he was not involved in JFKs murder.
Randy Harris,
This monster was the genius who helped create the welfare program where pregnant women will be paid extra if they don’t marry the father. His tag line was, “I’ll have those ni##### voting Democrat for the next 100 years.”
Not really
LBJ said He was looking for Peace but then the Gulf of Tonkin lie happened and He even admitted in written Documents and Speeches that it was in the interest of the United States to spread its Business interests throughout the World which was the actual reason why the United States was involved in Vietnam.
Actions speak louder than words.
Johnson was at the Centre of Assassination of JFK.
He stood to benefit the most and had the capacity/power to cover it up.
If LBJ wanted to be President he could have blown the open secret of JFK's affairs, ruined him that way, and replaced him on the '64 ticket, no vast, sprawling risky murder plot requried.
Those Americans sure love their dreams but when will they ever wake up and look around them.
Where is it you see so much?
@@specag31?
Okay, where are you that you can see that "Those" Americans are not awake, do not look around them, and love their dreams? That's all.
And he saying this speech with a straight face wow
I think he is sincere here some people say he was a crook but actually he did a lot of good things
You were looking into the eyes of a first rate Texas-bred psychopath.
The man was a psychopath.
An American President a psychopath?! Only in America.
@@randyharris3175e LBJ didn't have much of a choice on a lot of it. He didn't actually want the civil rights movement. Him and his buddy FBI director Hoover were KKK together living next door to each other for 20 years. LBJ's personal hitman Malcolm Wallace Killed more than 20 people for him including his own sister. He was tried and convicted for it and given a suspended sentence by the judge. LBJ was ruthless in his quest to become President. He had to or he would have gone to prison. George H. W. Bush also did a few good things in office. He was also a mastermind and present with a 17 year old "W" at the assassination.
What about the dream to end the FED?
It seems that the FED ended the dream.
Hi trifio5242, that's a great idea. From time to time, we do dramatic readings of famous historical speeches, so we can look into performing some older ones.
Not the biggest fan of LBJ. But that was a great speech.
Is there any authoritative account as to the extent to which this “masterful” speech was written by Ted Sorensen?
It’s sickening to listen to this man!
Let us Continue. Let us unite the nation. This is the united state. The Country treats everyone equally, not a black, not a white, not an European, not an African. Let us live with brotherhood and prosperity.
Words are cheap has never been so appropriate, just shows how much politics has always been say what they want to hear.
This speech was written by JFK's speech writer bc LBJ had asked him to write the speech and it was written the night before this and lbj didn't have time to make the changes to it he wanted to make and he was pissed off about it bc it was all about JFK and what he was in the process of doing and lbj envied kennedy and wanted recognition and praise like jfk had
I find it hard to believe you could possibly know that
@@randyharris3175 Think Caro wrote about the background to the speech in his biographical LBJ series. Bill Moyers and Richard Goodwin also wrote about this speech in years after LBJ died.
ONE WHO IS RUTHLESS AND HAS NO BELIEVE IN TRUTH IS LOST HAS NOTHING !!!!! LBJ COULD HAVE BEEN BRILLIANT BUT NOT AT THE COST OF ANOTHER MANS LIFE , ALL FOR WHAT ???? FOR A QUEST FOR POWER , THE GUILT WAS EATING AWAY AT HIM FAR BEYOND HIS OWN DEMISE IN 1973 AND CONTINUES ON , INTO THE DEEP DEPTHS OF HELLS CHAMBER , LORD HAVE MERCY !!!!!
In Jim Marrs books reporters asking (19:24 studymark by Joey Karpinski assistant to Mr. Rockefeller) Oswalds girlfriend or wife was asked as stated "if you want to know who killed Kennedy go on over to the FED!" I think President Kennedy at the time was wanting to help us by using our Treasury...to do so.
Please don't miss reading one of Jim Marrs books. Thank you.
Donald Suiters
"Please don't miss reading one of Jim Marrs books."
*Cough*
Jim Marrs is one of the most dishonest authors of any book about the JFK assassination I have ever encountered. When I pointed out to him how badly he had misrepresented Jack Ruby's Warren Commission testimony in "Crossfire" he mistakenly assumed I was not all that familiar with that testimony and proceeded to quote only the sentences from it which seemed as if Ruby was hinting that he knew more about the JFK assassination itself than he was willing to tell in Dallas. I then proceeded to quote the parts where Ruby said that the John Birch Society of Dallas, including Edwin Walker, were trying to falsely implicate him as being directly involved in the JFK assassination itself, not just the murder of Oswald, because they hated Jews and Ruby was a Jew. Marrs then did an about face, directly contradicting what he had said before, and claimed that Ruby's WC testimony was altered, and it wasn't what he really said, which would include the parts of the same testimony that Marrs himself quoted, which he had previously claimed were genuinely what Ruby said.
Jim Marrs' record:
- gave his middle finger to the family of a decorated police officer slain in the line of duty as he obscenely accused the man, with zero evidence, of being a conspirator so long as it suited his crackpot and idiotic "theories"
- came up with a "mysterious deaths list" of witnesses where everybody on it either had little or no connection to the case or else he misreported their causes of death in order to sound more "sinister"
- gave us the "multiple Oswald clones running around" idiocy
- proved UFO's and flying saucers are real...
We ended up in Vietnam immediately after
and jfk said we could not win an asian land war...
57 years ago today November 22!
To anyone who will read this: I've been trying to find two separate documentaries on JFK but can't find them anywhere. I'm not looking to DL them, just to watch online. The first is Primary (1960) and the second is Crisis: Behind a Presidential Commitment (1963). If anyone has a link to where I can find these, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Such a powerful speech I just wish it would have carried to 2013 and we could truly Cary on the idea of a true hate free and true equal rights nation
It's deeper than that. Just look at JFK famous speech.
Yes! indeed.
Deeper than this is the state in the state the C.I.A controled by the N.S.A illuminatis.Let's clean up the swamp in november.
To the Foreign speech idea: a few ideas, some of which, I appreciate aren't contemporary.
First, the quite famous We Shall Fight on the Beaches by W. Churchill, The Funeral Speech by Pericles and Am I the first accused by N. Mandela. Also Socrates' speech in the Courts as recorded by Plato.
Personally I'd love to see Pericles' Funeral Speech.

Very informative
@@stevemaher7481 A total waste of time and full of misinformation
It's JFK to 911: a Rich man's trick
Crackpot, lie-packed garbage.
Know that in 1963 a black boy told the trial judge who convicted him on a crime, "I request for a attorney to represent me at this trial". The trial judge responded, "You have no right for a appointed attorney!" He appealed it to the US Supreme Court and was heard in 1964 in this court majority ruled, a indigent person has a right to an appointment of counsel

So just make a new playlist on ur channel and please tell when u are going to set it up (cause i really want to watch these speeches, especially roman ones!)
Robert A. Caro gives has an amazing discussion of this speech in his book, The Passage of Power: The Years of Lyndon Johnson, Vol. IV. It's worth reading if you are interested in this video.
Caro’s book is filled with omissions.🧐
Military strength? Well that backfired. Military spending caused us to go deep in our debt pit. It's true.
“Let us continue” to distort history see NSAM 263(JFK) and NSAM 273(LBJ signed signed 1 day after JFK’s funeral) but why let a little history get in the way of a RUclips video
my GOD LISTEN TO THIS
good episode!
Can we have some more speeches?
for example Churchill's one (you know which one i am talking about)
Also can you please make some from ancient times, like cesar, marius etc
i know they are dead) but some of their speeches still remain. So can someone reed them and then u post it, like with a series of either photos or simple anime to show in frames what was going on.
Thats a good idea=) DO IT!
JFK's murder just blows my mind.
Flowery words and puffy symbolism. But the actions of LBJ during his political career contradict this eulogy to the Rule Of Law....
What an absolute sociopathic liar Lyndon Johnson was.
How can you know hes lieing here?
His lips were moving.
Yes! Quel! hypocrite he was indeed!
Yes! indeed.
He had his own sister killed
One of LBJs sick jokes so I read "I told him that morning, Son today just aint your lucky day your going to the morgue and i`m going back to the white house"
Sick
where did you read, and who did he say it to?
@@robertdore9592 It was said the morning of the 22nd November at breakfast.
This is categorically untrue...never said by Johnson!!

Mr. Razzle Dazzle, LBJ! What B.S.!
Read David Talbots’ book ‘Brothers’ and his book on the Dulles brothers ‘The Devil’s Chessboard.’ for the real story of the assassination.
"Read David Talbots’ book ‘Brothers’ and his book on the Dulles brothers ‘The Devil’s Chessboard.’ for the real story of the assassination."
Those books present no actual proof that the CIA, or just the Dulleses by themselves, were behind the JFK assassination.
Beautiful Speech!
