There's footage of them making this video on you tube where's he's drinking brandy out of the bottle to keep warm and the director is saying the bottle is in shot tell Freddie to move the bottle. It's hilarious. Only Freddie ❤❤😊😊

In my opinion, this song is John Deacon’s greatest masterpiece.
It’s not just my “favorite Queen song”, it’s likely my “#1 All Time Favorite Song Ever” … and I mean of *all* songs I’ve ever heard (and I’ve heard plenty of legendary music)
There’s just something about “Spread Your Wings” that connects to my heart at the deepest levels… I can’t even begin to explain it rationally.
It’s in my top 10 Queen songs for sure!! Yep, the song gives me a nostalgic feeling, like something hopeful for the future!! 🦋🦋

“Spread Your Wings” is a ballad written by bassist John Deacon.
The song's lyrics describe a troubled young man named Sammy who is sweeping the floor at The Emerald Bar. The narrator (Freddie) of the song encourages Sammy to pursue his dreams, telling him to “spread your wings and fly away”.
The music video was filmed alongside “We Will Rock You” in the back garden of drummer Roger Taylor’s newly purchased (though he had not moved in yet ) mansion.
Notice the gloves that Freddie was wearing. They were not his but lent to him by his Roadie, Ratty (Peter Hince). Though definitely not Freddie's style, they keep his hands warmer.

The boys sang this in the backyard of Rogers house that he was trying to buy. The owners wouldn’t give him the keys , because he couldn’t afford it yet😊.
They were freezing in the snow. Freddie wasn’t used to drinking at that time and got so drunk, trying to keep warm . He threw up in the bushes.
Freddie tried to outdo Roger and came in his First Rolls-Royce that he couldn’t afford either 😂
Love this song. Queen didn't need all the flash and big stadiums this was in Rodgers back yard out in the cold. All they needed was the incredible talent that each one of them processed. By the way freddie was looking smack with his fit. The star glasses the jacket and the white jeans.

Thanks, Prada - everyone has told the story below.. but one more note is that Brian didn't film with his precious "Red Special" guitar, b/c he was worried about how the cold might affect it...
John wrote not only lyrics to his good music, but it's a poem with a complete story. I know, that this song is based on John's personal experiences, but I feel that the lyrics could also have been written about Freddie, who had his own difficulties even in his youth. And that's why I think, Freddie sang it by this raw emotional way.

Brian is using a copy of his Red Special here. He was afraid to use the original 🎸 because of weather and low temperature.... John is playing the piano at the beginning and then switching to his bass guitar and Freddie was so cold that he borrowed gloves from a roadie and used a bottle of brandy to keep himself warm 😅... The video along to We will Rock You was shot at Roger's garden but Roger forgot 🗝️ to his house ... and was winter and freezing 🥶

One of my favorite Queen songs. It is not part of the top tier that gets radio play but it is an excellent tune on a great album. I can't wait until to do the Boston debut album, leave song 1 for later, start with 2 and get on with it. It is the best instrumented, engineered, vocalized album I (and the greater music world) have ever come across. This is not in dispute. Check it out bro! It frigging rocks from note 1 to the end.
The house was Roger Taylors and they hadnt completed the sale but the owner let them record in the garden. I believe that Fred was Squiffy, but they all could of been as it was very cold.
I love the inspiring message of this song written by bassist John Deacon. It is sort of catchy and I will suddenly realize that out of the blue I am singing it. I like that John starts off on the piano on this one. Multi-instrumentalists all of them. This was filmed in Roger's garden and never intended to be done on a snowy day but that is what the day brought them. Freddie was so cold that he kept drinking brandy or something and eventually staggered away and threw up in Rogers rose bushes. "That's a wrap, Boys!" I don't think I have ever heard a cover of this song, and that really surprises me because it is such a good song. Honestly, I have tried to listen to your personal content but I just don't love Rap or Hip-Hop and I really don't like the strong language that I often find in those genres particularly when it is unnecessary and just thrown in for I don't know what reason. I will check back periodically because I may find something I like, it has happened before. This is not throwing any shade on you at all because I think you deserve to be successful, you certainly work very hard on this channel. I am just not a fan of that music(?) as a rule. I suppose if I could disassociate it with music, and just accept it as entertainment, I might like it better but most of it just doesn't seem "musical" to me. Allthose years of music compsition and music theory I labored through make the genre a bit abrasive for me.

Freddie doesn't seem well here. They also recorded the We Will Rock video in this garden. But here he seems like couldn't wait for it to end, had no energy and even sat down inmediately and tried to take his stuff off. Any idea what was happening? Was he tripping or sick? They were all freezing and uncomfortable as well.
