When I first found out she was doing this song I was worried. She has the soul of a bluesy jazz singer (her Alicia Keyes rendition was out of this world). I thought this would be too pop for her, but she's doing something no other contestant is doing --- she's making these songs her own. So much control. So much emotion behind her voice. Amazing for a 17 year old. We are watching a star in the making.
So I think American Idol should not allow contestants to have reoccurring song choices. Last year , Jurnee sang this song and it was on point completely . Her appearance did not align with the song and it was not anywhere in her vocal range . Katy Perry was dressed as Ursula . So poor unfortunate souls should’ve been her song choice.just sayin. Vocal range people.
