There was a split second during which the Martin headstock was visible. That is the only way I knew. I have no idea what strings were on either guitar, by the way. Some folks say that all Martin dreads come with 13's from the factory (coated? uncoated? "treated"? whatever), yet in the music stores where I have seen new Martins they are strung with coated 12's.
He is a terrific player. The Eastman is definitely a louder instrument and has more sparkle. The Martin is from 2007 and the Eastman is from 2016. Also the Eastman was just resting with Monel 13s and the Martin seems to have phosphor bronze 12s or 13s on them. Even accounting for the differences in string age and gauge the Eastman is a different beast not necessarily better. The Martin like all Martin has tone for days and the usual Martin bottom end. 2 great guitars.
Martin sounds better, more balanced overall. Eastman sounds fantastic. As much guitar as 98% would need. I played one and loved it.
All "Cork Sniffing" aside, the Eastman does it as good for $2k cheaper. End of story.
Both great but the for two thousand Dollars more . The Eastman e8d is the closest you get to the hd28 for thousand dollars . I have owned both .
Across the sound spectrum - The Eastman for this win. That 28 sounds like it needs new strings and a proper set up.
Thanks
Headstocks out of camera view (on purpose?). Which one was Martin?
2 nd one was Martin. He says "here now try the Martin" also the binding is different on the Martin

Rosewood!
you look different, did you get a haircut?
he look white
Eastman by a way
He did a marvelous job. Eastman is vibrant and rich. Martin is dull but smooth. I’ve been wanting to get an Eastman in my hands but none in my area.
