Thank you for showing us the trick of doing this. Even though this video is 3 years old, it helped me because my BMW is more than 3 times older than the vid!! 🙏🙏
Thank you so much for the video! it worked as you said; I have an 09 E92 and the display somehow doesn't show the box with the check mark, but the procedure is the same; it will show "reseting" for a few seconds and it's done!
Been trying to reset my tpm after finding 2 screws in my tyres, tyres patched and all tyre pressures were correct but refused to reset, this worked first time, thanks!
Thank you so much for this.. I just did mine saved me money rather than getting a mechanic to do it even though he didn't know how to do it and blamed my sensors lol
Hi Steven, I noticed on your dashboard you also have the triangle and I guess certain amount of miles past service? I have been into the settings resetting the oil reminder etc but no matter how many times the triangle and mileage from service remains. Any advice? Cheers
Hi, that triangle was for the error in the vid - so once it was cleared the warning triangle symbol went away. It works in a similar way for the service items once you reset them.
Hi, double check those pressures, especially to make sure that both fronts are identical and that both rears are identical. If the pressure are good then you might have a brand new tire on one side and an almost worn out tire on the other side. Are the tires the same size? A 45 profile on one side and 40 on the other side will cause the error. After that you will need to connect an OBD2 reader to see if your ABS sensor is malfunctioning.
Hi, mine doesn’t say reset but it says ‘INIT’, I’ve checked all the tyre pressures and have put them up to scratch, drove the car around for 30 mins and it won’t go away and reset sign won’t show, what do I do
Hi, for permanent errors like that you won't be able to reset. The next step is to plug in a good diagnostic scanner like the Autel AP200 (or better) and find out the full error message.
Ah, that's a problem! I understand that a lot of folk keep the original parts plugged in somewhere else in the car (out of sight) just in case of things like that.
My original CCC unit was broken since this happens a lot they keep failing I replaced CCC + optical amplifier with E90 android + 2 amps of 4 channel to stock speakers more functions better sound and cheaper to replace.but forgot tire pressure reset 😅 is there any way to code kombi so I will allow reset like non idrive kombi?
Perfect video, but sadly didn't solve my problem. There is no reset in my options. I think it's because the previous owner didn't start the vehicle for a long time, so the computer of the vehicle can't fully start (idrive sometimes can't start)
For cars with iDrive the option to reset should be in the menu, although with a car that has been sitting for a while it can be worthwhile to disconnect the battery leads and fully charge the battery before reconnecting it. Low battery voltage can cause all sorts or weird issues.
@@StevenBTuner I have put in a new battery, but the ECU doesn't seem to fully boot up (the menu button doesn't work intermittently), and I don't even think there's anything wrong with my tires, just a system malfunction ...
And what if you actually gave a puncture? Why would the warning come up otherwise? Mine came in today but when I checked the pressures they were all normal. I have the idrive so I can reset the warning that way.
Hi, on these (relatively) ancient cars, the error doesn't clear itself automatically once you fix the puncture. Because this system uses relative wheel speed differences to trigger the error, it can be fooled by having new and old tires on the same axle, or by having mismatched tire sizes.
@@StevenBTuner I've had to reset mine a few times. I had a puncture last week and the tyre was replaced, but yesterday on the dreaded M25 the warning came up again. I checked the pressures myself when I got to my destination and then took it in to a tyre place this morning and they confirmed the pressures are normal. The point I should have articulated originally is that I believe it could a sensor fault, which I think piggybacks off the ABS?
@@stubones Hi, an ABS sensor fault will generally light up your dashboard with errors. I think it is more likely that having a new and old tire on the same axle is causing the issue.
i recently had to change my cluster... i managed to find one with lower miles and tge same part codes... but i have lost a few fuctions off my menu including the tire reset... anyone kmow how to bring them all back... others i lost were the car setting like unlock all doors or drivers door etc... i have a constant low tire warning even though they all all perfect and cant reset it
Its possible that the cluster may need to be programmed, even though the part number is the same. Bmw dealer or a shop that is familair with tuning and modifying bmws might be able to help you. Many features on bmw are simply programmed in or out, so the same part might not give you the same functions.
Hi, if you have tried the steps carefully a couple of times and it doesn't work then it is necessary to connect up an OBDII reader and find out what error code is preventing the reset.
With i drive and in wheel sensors you would go to the i drive menu for vehicle information, then tire pressures and then choose reset. Once you drive for a few minutes the error will clear.
Here’s a head scratcher…I have the red warning light after a rear brake seized and overheated, but the option to reset the system has completely disappeared from the center screen menu. I thought maybe it was a faulty sensor or bad fuse, so I replaced the sensor on that wheel hub and checked all fuses, but the light persists. I’ve also tried using a scan tool, but it can’t see any codes. And finally I unplugged the battery and left the car sitting overnight. It’s still there, I’m infuriated and I have no ideas as to what’s causing it at this point…
Hi, the red car lift symbol won't go away until all of the issues are corrected - so you will have check the code number / numbers again to see what the car thinks is still wrong, and appropriate part or sensor replaced.
@@StevenBTuner It’s not the car lift, it’s the red tire warning light. There are no codes to diagnose what the issue is. The car is giving me no information at all. The tire pressure reset and key fob settings are both gone from the gauge cluster menu, I can only assume this is a software issue and the ecu will need to be reflashed to correct itself.
Ooops! Make sure all of your tires are the same size and the same pressure and go for a 5 minute drive. Try the reset steps with the ignition on and if that doesn't work then do it with the engine on.
@@jhc85 It was the reluctor ring on one of the rear axles. Corrosion caused it to swell out of round and it began wearing down the wheel speed sensor. I basically had to replace the axle and sensor to fix it.
