I loved the way you explained this pedal. I already have the Keeley Halo, is there anything the Boss SDE-3 can offer that isn't (more or less) covered by the Halo? Great demo!
I would imagine the biggest difference between this and the Halo is that the Halo is emulating an analog delay or tape echo. That “halo” effect Andy Timmons gets came from him using 2 vintage Memory Man pedals in series. And the really warm analog delay sound of those MM pedals made it possible to have that halo effect while staying out of the way of the un-affected signal. A classic “digital delay” like this one has way more fidelity in the repeats, almost like a mirror image of the original signal. HOWEVER, given that with this pedal you can darken the repeats with the tone knob, and also add modulation, you could get it to sound very close to the Halo. But the Halo is a boutique pedal build with high quality components and unique features. This one is just a Boss pedal, which is not a diss in Boss. It’s just a fact that Boss pedals are affordable compared to others. They don’t have true bypass or analog dry-through like the Halo.
@@kevinmurtagh4996 Which means the “Just a” Boss will work forever, as they always do and the Keeley will have to go back for repairs.. (as they often do, at least the turnaround is quick)
