    Lyrics:
I saw you, you saw me, you hid your fangs so well
I should have known better but it is hard to tell
In beauty the evil is waiting for possession
Deep inside reflections just a glimpse away
Your faithful servents, they bow to you
    Together they're breaking the broken
We were set free, what is to be?
When its all said and done what is left to really say?
To be one turns to none now we are just yesterday
You speak in killing words, the kind that crush and kill
No mercy your pleasure to taste the blood you bled
The chase has ended in denial of glory
To trap and add to your servant souls

There is a tribute album here on YT and Spotify called "When Man and Machine Collide: A Tribute to Control Denied" where the unreleased second album demos are reworked with added vocals (using Chuck's lyrics), fretless DiGiorgio style bass, and pro drums. Stay metal! 🤘

@dirtydodger CONTROL DENIED was Chuck's band before his untimely death from brain stem cancer in 2001, and this is the first Chuck-related video to be professionally produced in many years. This is why folks don't take kindly to from-the-hip criticism, like 'puke'. This song is from the late 90s, and Chuck himself was from Orlando. He was my friend and client, and I am proud as hell that we've made this vid and that Chuck's legacy is in full swing. ERIC

What I interpreted it as was a guy (possibly Chuck) going on a journey to discover the secrets of life, using the hints found in the notebook. The box is as the inner strength that everyone has, but not many people know how to take advantage of. It tries to get away, and we need to chase after it to keep it, and we'll know how to use it when the time is right. The grim reaper represents the fear that holds us back and keeps us from our goals. This video is artistically awesome. RIP Chuck! \m/

I love the vocals on Control Denied, in a way they are better than Chuck's. I'm sure Chuck wouldn't have minded that comment - it's obvious he was a brilliant song writer - he must have wanted to get a larger range in the vocal section. Control denied is brilliant.

Gore Bag Fun fact: Chuck originally asked Warrel Dane to do the vocals on the album, but due to a conflicting schedule, it wasn't in the cards. Also, Tim Aymar's shriek sounds so much like Kenn Nadri's (Anacrusis).

@IronMasonary Thanks so much for getting it. The Director Doug Cook had a great vision - we wanted something touching & full of symbolism that Chuck's fans would 'get'. Fuck yeah indeed. ;) ERIC

Maybe...He means that were supposed to be a real intention of ex-DEATH members and close friends of Mr. Chuck, to grab a studio version with voices of "when man and machine collide"...and that never happened. But the instrumenta parts are in RUclips.

Very insightful, Chuck's lyrics seemed to be a lot about finding your true self and abandoning the superficial... so I see this video as very appropriate. If it were made in 1999 or 2000 I'd imagine that there wouldn't be as many references to Death, (since he was trying to forge ahead with Control) but it's a great video to see so many years later. Now I need to figure out what they mean by "to be continued", for the next album or another from this one?

I like the video itself and all the imagery, but what does it even mean? electric broken statue thing, apocalypse survivor guy, framings of pictures, the floating grim reaper guy, the hilarious gestures survivorman makes during the solo. I would like to think that it has some kind of meaning and they didn't throw in all that random stuff for nothing, but a good video anyway.

    • @PatrickINgames
      @PatrickINgames 9 лет назад +4

+Chris Gehman I'm trying to understand it too. I believe that the guy wanted to deliver the Death (band) box power to its true owner (Chuck), and the reaper was trying to stop him. The statue represents Control Denied, so the soldier believed it was a helper, like a new phase after Death (band). That's just an idea though.

    • @chrisagehman
      @chrisagehman 9 лет назад +1

Interesting, I don't think it really makes sense though.
I had thought from the beginning that the statue thing represented God--a "magical", stolid, incommunicable object. I don't know what he's searching for, but the wasteland seems to be the barren circumstances of life itself, and Chuck (survivorman) is struggling against the reaper to find something--fulfillment?
I can't work it out into a plot though lol

    • @PatrickINgames
      @PatrickINgames 9 лет назад

That's interesting too, but intrigues me the fact that the statue has the same appearance of the being in the Control Denied album cover. In the end it says "to be continued", and I really hope they continue this story.

I didn't know the crumbling statue/manikin was on their album cover, intriguing.

I always thought the masked guy is supposed to be Chuck trying to get away from the reaper/cancer/death.
The Death box i think might resemble his hope for help when the family tried to fund a second operation for him through Death records/concerts/fundraising etc. - a lifeline that (so unfortunately) couldn't save him

Dude I was just listening to some death and was reminded of little 9 or 10 year old metalhead Alex going to Chuck's apartment and sitting on his front doorstep while he walked his iguana on a leash and just talked to me about metal.
I will never forget when he never came back from tour and I woke up one morning and my whole room was filled with the darkest s*** ever. A skull mug that stuck with me for years and a milk crate full of the spiritual healing records.
Me and my stepdad at the time eventually caught that iguana and kept it for like 10 years until he finally died.
I wouldn't even know the importance of him till so many years later.
His apartment was right on the corner next to the pool and I was always on my way to swim. But he was so cool and just knew that I was obsessed with metal and knew that I loved his iguana that he always invited me over. And it was just three apartments down from my parents house which was blaring metal.
I think my stepfather who was the one who turned me on to metal just kind of thought that Chuck was ambitious but it wasn't his kind of metal and I don't think he saw it really going anywhere.
The apartments were called Regency/Grenada in Fern Park Florida that is actually now known as Casselberry.
Just wanted to share my story about Chuck. I've seen the documentaries and heard the stories but to me he was just always this really cool guy that like my kind of music and new way more about it.
Just imagine being 9 years old, loving heavy metal and you're on your way to the pool and there's always this guy walking his iguana blaring the most beautiful music you've ever heard.
It was like my own demented Mister Rogers neighborhood.
