- Welcome to Shinkansen 0! This is the latest game from Chilla's Art and I've been looking forward to it for a while now! They decided to make an Observation Duty game and they absolutely nailed it. ENJOY!

Not sure if other games have done that, but the "Turn back if NO anomaly" is pretty genius:
1) It forces you to have a second look, even if you think there wasn't anything.
2) If there is an anomaly you can't just run away. You have to pass it, no matter how creepy it is.
One more benefit: some anomalies can reveal themselves immediately but force you to make it to the other side without dying.
There are actually some of these in the green car area, such as... SPOILER ALERT...
an anomaly where you have to play “red light, green light” and make it to the other side without being caught.
And it can make you choose wrong when you panic, making you more paranoid next pass.

There is one game that didn't do that, its called project 13. If you find something off, you have to pull the lever
There is actually an IRL person who gets creative with their fake eyeball, including a flashlight option. So laser guy isn't the only one with a unique eye
I believe the drummer for Dead by April has an eye like that!

That flashlight option is absolutely genius. Then again he _is_ an engineer.
I REALLY hope you would do a replay on this to get the find all anomalies in the blue & green car achievements, there are so many cool anomalies not yet found!
Also it turns out you can call the telephone to check how many anomalies are left
This remind me of the japanese horror lore. It's called Kisaragi station. About the station that is not exist in real world but afterlife realm. We might appear there if we fall asleep in the last train of the day or get in to the train after 12am( which japanese trainstatoons were closed)
Ghost trains are a common trope throughout the world. Be it Silverpilen or the funeral express that ran from springfield to dc etc alot of it came about in the early days of railroad expansion where people would see white trains off in the distance thought it was a apperition because of how twilight would reflect off it. One of the more common tales is acting as a modernish take on Charon the Ferryman.

I did some thinking, and I have a theory, when you get on train you collapse and almost die and start dreaming that you are on the train. The other 2 people got hit by the train and are trapped as long as it loops. When you get the first ending and get of, you go to the afterlife. And thats why you don't get of the train when it stops in the second ending and you wake up insted, because you stayed and survived.
to compound on this, you start off in the blue car you run to the end to stop it and an exit is there; you've literally gone to "THE OTHER SIDE", leaving your body behind - that's why you have to go back to where you came from; to head back to your body and back to the living world.
that might also be why the sister doesn't call it the "blue car" but the "normal car", but that could be a translation error or maybe a pun/homophone that doesn't translate directly (kinda like how "shi" can mean "death" or "4" in english depending on the kanji used, and why most people say "yon" instead because using "shi" is considered bad luck [notice how the people all sat on rows of multiples of 4? 8 was skipped because that's GOOD luck due to the Buddhist "Noble Eightfold Path" or "Hasshōdō" which has to do with how to escape the life-death-reincarnation loop])

Wow they stepped up a little in quality! The characters move their mouths when talking AND they have geometry in the faces! That's an incredible improvement :O
I totally agree with Insym. You can make a good story out of the observation duty genre and this is a good example.

How does chilla's art managed to just make a banger game on their first try taking on a completely new genre.
I really love this game, the way the story was told and the sneaky and really spooky anomalies were really well done, subtle, spooky, and even terrifying, good work to Chilla’s art and really good observation with Insym and chat too! I think an explanation for the second ending… (Spoiler Alert Also if you haven’t seen this game and both the endings!)
…would be a reference to another game they made called Ghost Train, where in that game the ending is very similar where the train manages to travel to the afterlife and whoever stays there is forever dead in the real world, granted that game was more confusing, but the reference showing the train scene in the afterlife and showing that scene where there was a death in the beginning of the game was a really cool detail I didn’t realize! Amazing work Chilla’s art, really good story and lore~
I don't know if this is what it's referencing specifically, but the concept of two people running in opposite directions to break the loop was shown off in the manga (and consequently anime) Jujutsu Kaisen. There's a lot of cool references in this!

Looking back at it, I think the giveaway to the chatters was at 12:52, when he zooms while looking at the guy in the chair. With so many people watching it only takes one (though this leads to tons of false positives too).
I've wanted to watch game play of this for awhile, but I'm glad I've waited to watch you play it first Insym!

This train is a train life and death. This train carries souls to afterlife and our player is a human stuck in this train
In ending one you when you halt the train and get out of the train through the bright flash, you die.
In ending two, the ghost tries to keep the souls trapped in the looping train not letting them reach afterlife. When you both successfully press the brake, the train stops to the afterlife station and the siblings get off as they are dead. But the player is not dead, That's the reason she says "its not your time yet" at the end and we wake up as we are still alive.
for multiple times we hear about an 'accident', basically both the siblings were involved in the accident. The small boy is already dead but his sister sleeping means that she's not dead but dying. Then when she wakes up in the train it means that she is dead in real life.
Also I think that we get ending 1 when going to the green car means that the girl couldn't outrun the ghost.

What I get from watching this (I could be wrong)
is that the 2 siblings were both hit by the train. The young boy dying immediately, your character was having a near death experience and the sister took longer to die maybe? Which is why she was asleep for so long? I'm not sure but I think it's a cool idea
Suicide/accident by train is indeed real in japan, especially in extremely crowded areas

Insym forgot in this game that the first time through is a base-line check of the area when he saw laser eye guy.

So the boy and the man had a chance at life but the sister is stuck like the other person on board...
Now the man got to finish and earn his life back after escaping death but the boy failed halfway and lost his life. Maybe thats why the boy is also playing the game but sadly he lost.
But cant explain the old man tho? Maybe he stuck in the "in between" ???

Smart to reverse the order on the one where the anomalies are in your face to prevent you from just instantly turning back.

Man this game was something else.. Most Chilla's Art are eerie and interesting but this one the way it develops when you progress was great!
Omg, idk if your aware, but the we stopped due to an injury is a very dark reference and that is to train suicides. In japan train suicides are a huge problem, people will jump infront of a speeding train and it happens all too often. Its sad, and depressing. Not to mention really inconvenient for people trying to get to work

On my phone if I'm annoying someone with Japanese you just type out the english version of a letter. So A/I/U/E/O, Ka/Ki/ku etc. Not 100% on choosing between the alphabets on a laptop admittedly.
There are a few ways to input Japanese text in a laptop/computer:
1. Using IME (the Microsoft's input system). We can toggle from English text to Japanese text by pressing Caps Lock. When Caps Lock is pressed, all inputs are processed as if they were Japanese - and the same system you described above (letters are parsed into Japanese symbols) takes place. Words or short phrases can then be converted into Kanji by pressing the spacebar until the desired word is selected - for example, I can write きゅうこう by writing 'kyuukou', which can then be converted into the words 急行, meaning 'express (train)' or 休講 , meaning 'cancelled class'). Pressing Caps Lock again reverses text to traditional Roman characters, so we don't need to change language constantly.
2. Using Kana input. It's possible to input Kana individually without parsing it through Roman characters, and most of the computers bought in Japan have Kana associated with some keys. For example, one could write てんとう by pressing the keys 'wys4', as they are also the keys for て・ん・と・う respectively. The rest of the conversion process goes the same. This method is not really used conventionally: it's mostly used by those who are either used to traditional Japanese keyboards (which did not use IME conversion) or speed typists, as this drastically decreases the number of keystrokes (in the example above, てんとう can be written with 4 keystrokes, but the IME method requires 'tenntou', a total of 7 keystrokes).

If you go back towards the green car after talking to the girl you just get ending 1 again
