49 - Rick And Alice: Retro Games Hunters. We have completed 1 year of development and will be releasing this game soon! Great video, I hope the overwhelming majority of them are finished and are very successful. Happy New Year!
Sorry, I've been following your project for the past year, but it somehow slipped me by when I put together this video. I had no idea it was so close to completion. I'll feature it next year for sure!
Wow I’m so honored to be mentioned in one of your videos! I’m doing my best to pitch more Genesis/MD projects to my movie studio connections for this year. I think the Sonic 3 project proved how effective it can be for marketing, so it will hopefully be easier to convince more companies.
That's good to hear, good luck with it! Who knows, you may even be able to do marketing tie-ins for Sega's modern games too (like a little 16 bit Yakuza or Persona demo cart or something)
Oh wow! Honored to get a shout-out and link. Thank you! There's a lot of great stuff coming out. The Rondo demo looks very impressive; it looks like they really nailed the gameplay and engine. To the point where I don't think I could tell the difference. Not as flashy as other stuff, but more impressive IMO just from a development point of view. Scorpion Engine for Megadrive is a game changer. I've been really impressed with some of the demos (and full games) people were able to put out with that dev kit.
It's an amazing console, I've been mildly collecting for it ever since I got it, I now have 76 games for it and an everdrive! I'm considering to get at least a couple new games for it they're often rare and interesting pieces of software. It's also very well fitting for my setup as the converter works very well and I got wireless controllers so I can comfortably sit in the couch and play with a friend 👍
The SNES is also receiving fan games, but not as many because it seems it's not as easy to program SNES's games than the Genesis ones (something related to the development kit).
@@GabrielnobreI wish developers would stop wasting time trying in vain to make SNES games run on Genesis and learn how to develop some brand new games for the SNES. There is a lot more potential there, especially when you consider how much more advanced the hardware and controllers were.

Lots of promising stuff to look forward to this year. I've been thinking lately that with all these demos and projects, it would be cool if someone put together a sort of "Demo Disk" for the Genesis like the PS1 had. It'd be especially cool if it functioned like those PS1 demo disks with menus to launch games and that 90's style presentation. Obviously it'd be prohibitively expensive to produce and distribute carts, but it could work as a digital download, or (for a fee) even an SD card for people's flash carts, or a CD for their Sega CDs. I miss demo disks, and would love to see them make some sort of comeback. Best of luck with all your projects in the new year, Pigsy! I'm hoping this is the year I actually start making something on the Genesis.
Yeah, I've thought of that idea before. For the Saturn or Mega CD you really could just produce an actual disc, which would be nice. Just go for it, getting started is the most difficult step!

It's crazy how many Sega heads with yt channels have just ignored SRB2 32X on their list. even if it's only the add-on, it counts more than half the abandoned projects on the list.
Some of these look absolutely wild. Especially excited for the ones that aren't shmups or platformers - not that these don't always look great but as genres they're so thoroughly explored that it's basically a case of how far the hardware can be pushed at this point. But Super BPM and Space Hunter also look like incredible homages.

Woah P-47 II was unexpected! I really like the soundtrack for the arcade version & it seems like the Mega Drive has a more faithful rendition of it than the PC Engine version. I wonder if this is an interquel that fits between P-47 & P-47 Aces...
I want to make a genesis fighter that has trident and slash, akira and jacky, axel and max, altered beast, comix zone guy, golden axe conan and shinobi with secret character sonic and end boss Shadow
My impression of MD homebrew from this video is that - with little exceptions - when the games aren't literal ports of other games, they are extremely strict, obvious, lovingly-inspired clones. That's not really a knock on the effort being made here, because, TBH, it's a healthy, respectful engagement with retro to remake everything and port everything. It's just jarring to see a project lineup that is "A Super Metroid clone, a Snatcher clone, a G'N'G clone, a SoR clone, a Loom clone, a Super C clone..."
I really want a version of SOTN for the Genesis that has the full Level Up & Weapon/Armor system! 😁 Will surely NEVER happen, but one can always hope!!
I found a 2016 RUclips video of Gradius II on the Sega MD. It was being programmed by Nendo who also did a caravan shmup called Omega Blast, but there have been no updates for several years. @MCBRemakes also recreated the Gradius III title screen for Genesis a few months ago.
@@yousefslimani99 Unfortunately no, he just did a demake of the title screen to match the Genesis' palette which he exported to a Genesis ROM. I think he did it as an artistic exercise.

Of the 2024 releases, Lyle in Cube Sector MD is absolutely fantastic and it's free!
2025 should give us at least 3 or 4 AA/AAA releases, and that's a lot for a console released in 1988!
Woah P-47 II was unexpected! I really like the soundtrack for the arcade version & it seems like the Mega Drive has a more faithful rendition of it than the PC Engine version.
I wonder if this is an interquel that fits between P-47 & P-47 Aces...
11:07 awesome sound fx and no 2d plane crap
Sonic CD on MegaDrive is being developed fully here ruclips.net/video/j-1vqUv-C5U/видео.html.
I didn't see that, thanks!
My game is heavily inspired but I wouldn't say we were a Snatcher clone beyond the UI and cyberpunk setting.
I really want a version of SOTN for the Genesis that has the full Level Up & Weapon/Armor system! 😁
Will surely NEVER happen, but one can always hope!!
Great video
🎉 What a phenomenal display of titles!
Still waiting for someone to make Gradius on SEGA Genesis one day
I found a 2016 RUclips video of Gradius II on the Sega MD. It was being programmed by Nendo who also did a caravan shmup called Omega Blast, but there have been no updates for several years.
@MCBRemakes also recreated the Gradius III title screen for Genesis a few months ago.
@ Wait does that means he’s Making Gradius 3 on SEGA Genesis for real?
@@yousefslimani99 Unfortunately no, he just did a demake of the title screen to match the Genesis' palette which he exported to a Genesis ROM. I think he did it as an artistic exercise.
@ welp, still waiting tho
A música deste jogo (02:25) foi "inspirada" na música tema de The Thing (1982).
Vigilante lembra Kung Fu Master (arcade)
Alguns fogos usam cores bem diferentes :D
Eu não vejo importância em usar 60fps...
Os jogos são muito interessantes. Tomara que finalizem.
Grato Pigsy!
You're welcome and thanks for the extra info
You are super correct! Glad that was coming through. The brief for the composer was a lot of John Carpenter, and It Follows sound track.
Edit - the comment is in regards to The bagman reference
It's fantastic to see developed games, more like I would like someone redeveloped DJ Boy on the Genesis, to look more like the arcade to give DJ more moves and animation and more lives and continued.
20:23 The sound driver in Secret of the Four Winds is mind blowing. How is that sort of PCM quality possible? This isn't a Mega CD game, right?
It uses an embedded MP3 chip that passthrough directly to the sound pins of the cartridge.
That's a great list of games though I'm surprised the Viking and the Ninja by Zebbe isn't in there. That should be releasing this year.
I featured it in a previous video, but didn't see any updates for it last year
So will these all be released to play on the pc?
I'm planning on bringing The Bagman to at least PC and Switch (after Megadrive).
Excellent updates on current gaming development for our beloved Mega Drive! I know you covered most of them but I was wondering if you have any news regarding the port of Date East's RoboCop arcade game?
I'd love to see a port of Zeliard to the Genesis/Mega Drive!
Earthion looks great
I hope fans make a sequel to gunstar heroes
A spiritual successor to to Gunstar would be epic!
Secret of the four winds looks like gaming perfection
Legendary✨
What is the estimated size of the Castlevania Symphony of the Night ROM? I have an Everdrive Krikkz x3, but it doesn't run a ROM larger than 5 mg. Hugs from Brazil. Happy New Year.

Stuff like this puts into perspective how pointless the 32X was.
A TMNT game Turtles in Time/Shredders Revenge enhanced using Hyperstone Heist which is like more than 80% of Turtles in Times. The music and sounds are already perfect on Hyperstone Heist. Just add the missing stages from Turtles in Time and add some elements from Shredders Revenge. 😁
The Genesis doesn't have Scaler hardware... But the Sega CD does! Why not make that racing game for the Sega CD then instead??
I would LOOOOVE to see some Homebrew ports of Sega Super Scaler Arcade titles for the Sega CD!! We should have gotten them from Sega in the first place!
The point is challenging what usually could not be done
Happy new year pigsy hope you’ll have a great day and a great year
You too!
Nice almost Brazilian developers, thats soo cool
Will any of these will have physical releases?
I’m aiming for a physical release for “The bagman”.
Lufthohiet will get a physical release . Earthion, ZPF &. Crito will also. Those i know off the top of my head , could be others.
