I have one of these in red and I love it! One thing I've noticed is that for various reason (the weight, heavier gauge strings etc) it takes more physical strength to play than a normal uke, so when I go back to my soprano now I find it much easier to play than I used to. The muscles used when I play must be getting more of a workout!
That could be because the action is way too high. I'm a mandolin player and they are notorious beasts to play if the action is to high, but much easier when everything is right.

SUCH a cute instrument and what a voice it has for being so small! Thanks for your channel - I'm sure it takes a lot of work putting out quality content.
Hi Jenifer! Glad you liked this review 😃 Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment ❤️ this takes a lot of time, but it is a labor of love. Making videos is my hobby and helping people is my passion.
I'm a bass player by trade but have recently gotten into playing Uke-style instruments. My most recent addition after purchasing a mandolin was a guitalele! Which I was just about to buy a banjolele but seen the guitalele sitting over down in a corner by itself all alone. I felt bad for the instrument and felt it needed a little attention so I put the banjolele I was about to buy back on the rack and picked up the guitalele and began playing it. It sounded like a harp from heaven just absolutely beautiful sound!! It's a Yamaha G1 guitalele. Without thinking another thought I took the instrument to the counter and purchased it right away. Though I don't regret buying the guitalele over the banjolele, after watching your video I'm going back to that music shop and am purchasing the banjolele I was about to buy before. In fact it's the same brand as yours only it's got a blue color instead of red. But thanks for the little inspiration! I'll update you when I get a banjolele of my own and share more thoughts about the instrument. Thank you for your videos! You seem like a very kind and gentle spirit and the world needs more folks like you to inspire on the positive level you do!! Thanks!!
I just found a vintage Banjolele at an antiques swap meet.... I fixed it up with a vintage tuning peg that was close.... but not identical.... new strings.... and wow... so much fun! I would love to see you play more with these fun instruments! Thanks again for your channel - I am learning so much from you already!
This is a great review! I have a blue one. It’s such a beautiful instrument. I too noticed though that once you get higher up on the neck that the sound isn’t as great as it is closer to the nut. In the lower registers the sound is better and it also sounds much more like a banjo in my opinion when you are picking.
Thanks for the review! I've been recently considering trying to learn the banjo and never had known that there was a ukulele version. They sound so peppy and happy!
Just inherited my dads old George Formby banjolele, all it needed was new strings so I tuned it to how a ukulele is and now I’m doing the 30day challenge. I love it!
Good things happen to good people. Unexpected kindness receives an unexpected giveaway. Maria & Ms.B. Represent! Thanks to the man who was inspired to write, and props to Gold Tone for responding. Always good to learn what's new and exciting on the uke front. Excellent review. Very useful insights of all the little things about this big sounding instrument. I do like the option of picking this up when lively finger picking tones are desired. As to the gig bag. I rather save money. I'm looking to buy one high-end quality tenor bag, like the "Fusion" and use that to transport my different ukes when needed. In home, a bag is not a necessity. Perhaps a rolled up towel to snug this body shape in a regular uke bag? Smart ruler idea. If I get one, I'd sharpie a line, in the color of the uke, where the moveable bridge should sit. I'm going to check the links you provided. I can see people adding led lighting to the body, look amazing on stage. It's really quite a beautiful instrument. Now if they come in those lovely colored cat's eye's we are set. Happy golden tone days.
Hey!!! GREAT idea about the sharpie to mark the bridge!!! On my Sanshin I have a tiny little sticker that shows me where I need to put the bridge (the bridge has to be removed after every practice). Since today wasn’t an unboxing, I wouldn’t have kitty footage. I would have ended without it, but kitty was sitting there next to me looking adorable ❤️
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Hi, thanks, I actually got the idea from you, when you showed us your sanshin in Okinawa. You mentioned about the need of having proper placement of the removable bridge. Kitty so cute, all "ready for my close up, gotta keep my fans happy" If that's the new lens it was totally worth the upgrade. The quality is noticable. The sharpness and the details seen in kitties fur is impressive.
I love the looks of this banjolele. I find that it is quite attractive. My favorite is the purple. I did get to handle one in a local store and was surprised at how heavy it was. I personally like a much lighter weight so I don't have much interest in this instrument but I do think it is fun!
Hi Julia! 👋🏼 Yes! This instrument is very cute and very heavy. I usually do my tutorials and playing demonstrations standing up, but this uku is so heavy I had to stay seated!
great review! I came to this video after trying out this instrument at a Guitar Center nearby. I was not happy with the tunability of this instrument as I felt it sounded a lil off as compared to an actual ukulele.. but then, maybe it's just this instrument's unique and characteristic sound. I am habituated to the sweetness of the ukulele so I might take a lil time to adjust to the banjolele's sound. One interesting and cool thing I discovered, that you missed in your review too, this instrument comes with colorful led lights inside the drum with a USB charging port at the back and two lighting modes! it was super cool and awesome! i could totally get the party vibe from this instrument!! full points to the concept!!
OMGosh i was today years old, when i discovered such a thing called a Bangolele. i am learning the uke using your beginners tutorial, thank you so much your a fab teacher. so as soon as im confident on the uke im gonna get me one of those banjoleles yee ha!
My hubby got me a banjolele for Christmas and I'm having fun learning to play it! Thank you for making so many helpful videos! You're my go to girl for my students! :)
I love the twangy sound 🙌🏼 But the high notes do sound a bit flat. I'd really love one not made of this type of plastic but made like banjos normally are! I might get a banjolele then 😁
A Fiberskin or Actual Skin Hide drumhead would probably sound even better for a banjolele! I play the regular 5 string banjo and I know a lot of players that like the sound of having a skin (both real or artificial) head and using Nylon or Gut strings (which is what Ukulele strings are made out of). Of course replacing the drum head on this Banjolele would probably ruin the whole gem thing! Also not to mention real skin hide heads can be difficult if you live in a humid climate (luckily I live in New Mexico and it's pretty dry here (although the altitude could have an affect) Skin heads certainly have a have much more pluck and it certainly sounds beautiful!
Nice! I like the red body versus a white one! Too bad you gave it away because a fingerstyle cover of “dueling banjos” would be so cool with a banjolele and a ukulele!!
I really find a lot of joy watching your reviews and the banjolele especially is so interesting to see! About the accesories and gigbag; yes, I would rather spend more money for a higher-qualilty gigbag since you obviously want to offer great protection for your instrument. I also love that you have given the ukulele to someone who deserves it! I haven’t really practised ukulele lately and since I am starting to focus more on playing the piano I have never realised how hard it is to keep track with two instruments at the same time. Maybe I should start scheduling my days more often... but the problem really is that every day is so unpredictable. I just hope that I can get back to practising as soon as possible and I will always try to find time to watch your video’s!
Van!!! Thank you so much. I feel the same way about your videos! I agree with you on paying more for a better gig bag. We like to travel with our ukes, so it’s important they are protected! You always sound so busy! Is it all homework and studying, or are you involved in other projects?
Bernadette Teaches Music Most of the time it is studying, but next week I am going to perform a song with a friend of mine and I will be playing the piano aswell at the music night at my school. This is such a big step I decided to take and never in a million years have I thought a few years ago this was going to happen. I am sooo scared already. Lately I have been practising really hard but when I make mistakes it makes me so anxious to what is going to happen at the real performance. School in general has become so much harder as well. The grade I am in is so much harder than I am used to and the amount of lessons I have compared to previous year makes me so tired. Yes, I have a quite busy life after school but music will always be one of my priorities whether it is through theatre, dance, the piano or ofcourse the ukulele. It is just really hard to divide your time equally for everything you love, you know? It looks like 24 hours per day is not enough sometimes! 😅
Wow!!!! I’m so excited about your performance!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Now I want to tell you something someone told me. You will make mistakes on stage. It’s what you do after that matters. When we make a mistake 9 time’s out of 10 the audience only finds out because of our face and body language. So as you practice, keep going even if you make a mistake. Practice body language.
I saw another review of this Goldtone and it too was favorable. I’m totally intrigued by this and want to get one. A minimally padded gig bag is a waste of resources. Either provide a strong, protective bag or the option to buy one. As you noted, this will be a difficult instrument for which to find a 3rd party bag. Personally, I want to protect my investments. Nice review (and fingerpicking) Bernadette! -phoenix, AZ
Just found your channel, I’ve never played a stringed instrument before and I’m considering either the standard uke or banjolele. So happy I found your channel!
It’s so cute! Love it! I just ordered an Outdoor ukulele because I want a ukulele I can travel with. It does not come with a gig bag although I could have ordered a soft cover one or a hard case. As it is, I already have a good tenor sized gig bag.... So as it is, I’m totally fine with not ‘getting’ something extra, but I am getting a ukulele the way I want it: strap pins, plug in, carbon fibre strands 😀
Hi Ivette! 👋🏼 An outdoor ukulele?! Those look so nice! I haven’t played one yet, but I’ve seen them all over the Internet. Having a travel uke is great. My little travel flight is awesome because of how small it is and the plastic means I can just throw it in my gig bag ❤️
Bernadette, thank you for reviewing the banjolele! I discovered one of these being played in a video recorded musical group recently, and loved the sound (banjo), but playing technique was ukelele style, which is what I’ve been working on learning (thank you for your tutorials!). Thank you for pointing out it’s strengths, and for mentioning the gig bag +/-, too. Thank you for explaining the ruler and it’s benefits. I hope to get a left handed banjolele. My mom played banjo and I found it’s sound so unique, however, Mom was right handed, and my small motor skills are strongly left handed. Thank you, again! 😊🎶
I agree about the gig bags, Plazi! I would pay $10, maybe $20 more for a more substantial bag to protect my investment. I mean, these ukes are NOT cheap...I know they are not as expensive as some, but for me, they are getting into the realm of maybe unattainable, or "only when I am really good at playing"....and they don't come with all of the extras that some of the more affordable banjolele sets do...and some of those instruments are getting REALLY great feedback...so I think Goldtone could step up their game here to justify the price a bit more. (saying this as I have been researching banjoleles a TON lately, and if I were to take the chance on a Goldtone versus some others, it better knock my socks off, ya know? I have 5 ukes right now --I did have 7, but I gave 2 away to high school kids who needed them--and some of my ukes are from famous brands and some are from not as well-known and more affordable brands...and my favorites are actually those lesser-known, more affordable ones! So, I use caution when approaching...it all comes down to what you like, not just a name!) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR THE UKE COMMUNITY!
I like the headstock so much better than other banjo ukes because it's a very traditional shape for a banjo. Gold Tone is a banjo maker soooo... I'm a hard case kind of guy although I just bought a Kentucky KM270 that has a major nice gig bag that I really like.
Thank you. I looked at something like this in Kmise, very similar, gig bag is the same. I ended up with wood, and it is a fine instrument for the price. Gig bag is only just but will persevere with it while it holds up. The banjolele is much more rugged than a conventional wooden uke. Now to go practice that 4 finger picking, I am plucking and brush-thumb (which gets beautifully addictive once achieved), using the chords, also in a group where all else is strumming. Lends itself very much to being played like a 5 string, with that high G. Tried low G tuning, but then it doesn't really sound like a ukulele or a banjo!
This instrument just deserves a great gigbag.. I don't take my instruments outside my house, but I think a gigbag is part of the overall feel of getting a new instument. It's the first impression, so you should make it count. My (vintage) guitar has a hard case and I just think that is so cool❤️
Ohhhhh!!! You’re right!! It is the first impression. When I picked up the box I was pleased with how heavy it was, but as soon as I opened it I was disappointed with the gig bag. It felt floppy :( If they had a $50 upgrade for a hard case I would pay for that in a heartbeat!
Wow! A banjo Ukulele... I like the white because it appears to be a "mini" banjo! It seems so different, but actually it isn't is it? ! Sounds very nice... Enjoyed your review! Good job!
No, I got this one from a brand called Vangoa, after I setted it up (like place the bridge in the correct spot and change strings) it sounds great! I plan to possibly replace the head (the drum skin) with a real calf skin eventually one day (which will improve the tone a lot!) Interestingly that Gold Tone looks a lot like my main banjo (which is a Deering Goodtime!) because of the maple neck!
Goldtone is quite underground famous for quality instruments. Musicians from Luke combs to Dan Weller have a goldtone. They have their own RUclips channel as I recall.
I never thought I would have an interest in a banjolele until I saw your review of this instrument. Now I am giving it some serious thought. As to the question of gig bag quality, I am not opposed to a 'lesser' gig bag starting out. This is just my approach to it though. I want to see if I'm going to be traveling around with the instrument before getting it upgraded. If I find that I Am going to be taking it out and about much at all, I will usually want a hard shell case for my favored instruments. This is mostly because it's going to be traveling with a fair amount of other equipment and more protection than what is afforded with a gig bag is needed. Congratulations Maria Donna on your new banjolele! Thank you Ms. Bernadette for including our friend AriGato at the end of the video, such a Handsome kitty!! Hope you are settling in well in your new home and surroundings. Thank you again for the continued inspiration for all of us who are benefiting from your lessons.
Just a tip, I have a concert sized banjolele from another company, and it fits perfectly in the Ibanez Power Pad concert sized ukulele case. My banjo uke is the Luna Ulu, and didn't come with a case at all, but I also have a concert sized ukulele with that case, and found the Ulu fits it perfectly. I think it was around $30, well worth it, IMO.
Hi Steven! 👋🏼 I’m going to have to ask my music professor about those first! Anytime there’s something I’m not great at, I go back to him for advice and his teachings 😃
oh yeah, there are options for gig bags, it's just a much more limited market. Gold Tone's resonator ukulele gig bag was incredible. I wish they would have made this one's gig bag the same. It was padded and lined, and very elevated.
Oooh I love it. Have u heard of a song called “traveling soldier” by the Dixie chicks? I think this instrument would sound great for that song. And Tennessee whiskey
I used to listen to the Dixie chicks, back when landslide came out. But yesterday I heard traveling soldier on The Voice. Sung by Chevel. It’s such a good song. I tried to find a tutorial, but there r only covers on RUclips. I did find the chords online, but I can’t get the strumming pattern to sound right
This banjolele is beautiful and looks like it is very well made. better quality gig bag for an extra 10 or 20 dollars would be nice. I think it sounds a lot better for single note stuff and banjo rolls. Chords sound kind of muddy. I think it is not meant for that, just like a Banjo.. Really enjoyed watching the review, fantastic job as always. Arigato wants to play a few chords on the Banjolele :D
As I watched this demo, I though of a design for a fitting to keep that bridge in the correct place and so that it would not need a measuring device. It would be incorporated into the string anchor and would be very simple to add to this or any instrument of this type. Engineers never stop engineering just because we are retired.
I have a banjolele too but find it is so loud that it’s hard to sing along with without being overpowered. Would love some banjolele tutorials though 🤗
wow, not only is it a fun instrument, mix of hillbilly/hawaii cultures in it, but your fingers move so feminine and smooth, it's almost calming to look at! 😄
I've seen these little babies before. Lovely vibrant colours. Some real twangy sounds going on there. Bit loud lol. Gig bag wise, I'd rather pay more for a better quality one. I love the ending with Arigato! I think you should do that as the norm lol.
Thank you for the Kitty footage at the End, you know thats what we all are here for really! :P and great review as usual. I have been thinking about getting a banjolele myself at some point. They just seem to be so much fun and the sound is so different. Its like you are suddenly able to play a whole new Instrument.. But without learning it. Cheating at its best ;)
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic I have the kmise, it is very cute, nice sound. Hard to tune A, but after it is tuned it sounds really good. If you could just show how to play the way you did in the beginning of this video slowly, it would be great
Hi Bernadette - one thing you didnt cover was how you could attach a strap - it looks as if there is a strap button on the tail (no idea if that terminology is correct) but there was only a very short glimpse of it so I'm not sure and it looked covered. It is heavier than a normal uke so you really need a strap. Alan
Hi Alan, I am not sure that it has a strap button, but The Hug Strap is designed for all types of ukuleles, even if they don't have strap buttons, so that one would definitely work on this one!
This is a great ukulele! It is so cool to know that they are selling banjolele that are unique. Yes i would buy a gig bag that is a high quality even though they are really expensive here especially hard cases. I love clear red body of the ukulele. Is gold tone one of the best banjolele brands? Did you buy this or gold tone send it to you? Thank you for the review! You are the best! I love you!!
You know what’s funny ? I was watching an episode of a show called The Office and this guy Andy Bernard Was playing this instrument and I was like it’ll be cool if you also knew how to play this and guess what ? You do And it sounds fantastic Too You’re a Wonder Of A Woman
Bernardette Teaches Music las mejores fundas para los banjoleles de 8" son las de mandolina, tienen la misma medida y son mucho más resistentes y de mejor calidad.
Bernadette I recently purchased a Magic Fluke Firefly Soprano banjolele. I studied reviews and videos of several brands, narrowed down to three. The Goldtone was one of the contenders and I really wanted to love it for the reasonable price and the colors. I would have selected red. In the end, I liked the sound quality of the Firefly best. Plus, it's very very light. As for your gig bag question, I would definitely be willing to pay for a better one right up front. Now a question for you. You mentioned something about moving the bridge. Under what circumstances would you want to do that?
Hi Arlene! 👋🏼 Thank you for your comment. I’ll have to check out the Magic Fluke! The bridge on the banjolele is like the bridge on some orchestra instruments or on the Sanshin... it’s not drilled or glued on. It stays in place because of the tension of the strings. This means the bridge can move, so the ruler helps set it up again
Ah hah, I understand now. My Magic Flute arrived with the bridge turned down and pencil marks for where to place it. I'll have to pay attention to make sure it's always in the correct spot. Thanks for your reply Bernadette. I love your videos and comments. Keep up your good work.
@@alstroemeria1031 Plus you can deliberately change its position to alter the sound of your instrument. A few millimeters can make a huge difference to the intonation, which you can take advantage of to suit different songs, the noisiness of your environment, or just your personal taste. But be aware that every time you move it you'll need to retune.
Interesting video. A couple of our band players have banjoleles and you are right they do stand out from the rest of us. This is fine until they make a mistake and then they are really noticed! Reckon they are probably best as a solo instrument. Love and best wishes to you and your family, cats included. Ken XXX.
Hi Ken! 👋🏼 Oh yeah, banjoleles definitely stand out of the group! I think they're a great piece for people who want to stand out and play solo pieces or solos on top of an ensemble
Just check Amazon, excellent reviews. Although for the price an upgraded gig bag should be included. Forgot to ask? What's the edge like where the arm rests upon it? Thanks.
Yes, this is pricier than the ukuleles I usually review. The reviews on this channel try to stick to $100 or less because I remember what it was like to be a music teacher on a tight classroom budget. Are you talking about the rim?
I kind like the sound of banjoleles, but still, I think it only goes well with certain type of songs, not for everything, so I would only invest in one if I had a repertoire with many songs that would fit its unique sound. The only song that I play, (that actually is one of my favourites) and that I always wondered how would sound in a banjolele or a resonator is Jolene. A part from that I can't think of any. But is lovely anyway!
Jennifer, I agree with you. I think they sound best with specific music 🎶 I think if I taught more songs that had the style it calls for, I would definitely be much more into it. Nonetheless I love the construction of it and the clear head is really cool too. It is well made!
It's a nice instrument, but I prefer a traditional ukulele. Wondering, though, is the body prone to scratching? It looks like it could be easily scratched. Good to see AriGato. What a ham! 😺
Hi Lauren! 👋🏼 Ohh, that's a good question. I noticed you could see light stains from where my fingers touched it (after I did my makeup). I had to clean those up. I'm not sure about the scratching and I'm too scared to test it!
Great video Bernadette Teaches!!!!!))) I think your ready for some Blue Grass!!!!!!!))) I played banjo some but it’s been a while. That is a nice instrument and it sounds good!!!!!!!!))) I did dueling Ukulele on one of my Instagram videos Chek it out it is not hard to play and you can play it how you like and you can play it with another ukulele!!!!!))) Have a wonderful evening !!!!!!!)))😊😊😊
AriGato❤️❤️❤️😍.....aw, always too cute!!! Wow! Gorgeous instrument!!!!! Not familiar with the Banjos at all.....Just googled the difference between banjos & banjoleles......Really cool!!! Gotta have😍. I would definitely put “it” in one of those hardshell carrier cases (if i traveled outside with it)......but use the “gigbag” it comes with maybe just to keep it protected at home.....when it’s not being displayed. That’s a definite display item. The sounds - when you play high up the fretboard sounds “unique”......Maybe there are some songs where it could perfectly fit with. Love the price - Very reasonable for sure!!! *And unlike the ukulele or the guitar - where u can only see the sound hole........Its cool to play an instrument where u can see inside for once😀😀😀. Thanks “Coach”!
Thank you so much for reviewing this. I have always wondered what a banjo Ukulele sounded like. Does it come in different clear colors? Also is this the size of a soprano, concert or tenor Uke?
Hi Tim! This is a concert sized banjo uke It comes it blue, clear, amethyst as well. There are links to each one in the description box right under the video
Bernadette, I am shopping for a Gold Tone Gen Diamond, thank you very much for the review. I will not be traveling with the ukulele very often, do you think the gig bag will hold up just to store it in? Also, I am very new to playing, I’ve been playing for 3 weeks and your 30 day lessons have come in very handy! I am getting this ukulele because I have fallen in love with fingering style, any recommendations on any trainings that may be out there?
I really want to buy this instrument, but I’m afraid that it might get damaged during international shipping (they don’t sell it in my country) What do you think? How was the packaging?
Bernadette Teaches Music It’s a nice looking instrument but the transparent red gives it something extra. Very unique sound too! You should do a few videos on it before it goes.

Absolutely prefer a nicer gig bag even if the cost is more, otherwise the gig bag is just going to be landfill sooner, and that's a negative for me.
Does this take to alt tunings? Ex. Low G.
I guess if you changed the strings, it would work with low G

Kitty so cute, all "ready for my close up, gotta keep my fans happy"
If that's the new lens it was totally worth the upgrade. The quality is noticable. The sharpness and the details seen in kitties fur is impressive.
I saw this exact one at a local music shop and it stole my heart, and your video just confirmed that I'm going to buy it tomorrow
I love the looks of this banjolele. I find that it is quite attractive. My favorite is the purple. I did get to handle one in a local store and was surprised at how heavy it was. I personally like a much lighter weight so I don't have much interest in this instrument but I do think it is fun!
Hi Julia! 👋🏼
Yes!
Your reviews are always so comprehensive! Thank you. Cool instrument!
Hi Tami! 👋🏼
Your comments are always so sweet! ❤️
Thank you so much.
The sound on this is great!!
omg her cheekbones are GLORIOUS!
I love the twangy sound 🙌🏼 But the high notes do sound a bit flat.
I'd really love one not made of this type of plastic but made like banjos normally are! I might get a banjolele then 😁
yeah! It took me a little while to get used to it, but I really like it when it's played with single notes and fast :) it adds character
Also not to mention real skin hide heads can be difficult if you live in a humid climate (luckily I live in New Mexico and it's pretty dry here (although the altitude could have an affect)
Skin heads certainly have a have much more pluck and it certainly sounds beautiful!
Nice! I like the red body versus a white one! Too bad you gave it away because a fingerstyle cover of “dueling banjos” would be so cool with a banjolele and a ukulele!!
Hey Connor! 👋🏼
I liked the red one too! I was between this one and the purple one. I thought this one was more festive 🎈
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic I love the purple one, because it looks like an Amethyst crystal, which I love.
Yeah it’s really cute and pretty. I loved that one too!
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic The red does come in a very close second though. But alas! The gig bag is SOOOO flimsy!
“If you ever want to stand out in a room full of ukuleles..” I have never had this problem but at least if I do I’ll be well prepared.
Very nice! Thanks for keeping it classy, Bernadette.
Now I want to tell you something someone told me.
You will make mistakes on stage.
It’s what you do after that matters.
When we make a mistake 9 time’s out of 10 the audience only finds out because of our face and body language. So as you practice, keep going even if you make a mistake. Practice body language.
Bernadette Teaches Music Thank you, I will keep these words in my mind!
❤️❤️❤️
I saw another review of this Goldtone and it too was favorable. I’m totally intrigued by this and want to get one.
A minimally padded gig bag is a waste of resources. Either provide a strong, protective bag or the option to buy one. As you noted, this will be a difficult instrument for which to find a 3rd party bag. Personally, I want to protect my investments.
Nice review (and fingerpicking) Bernadette!

Nice Banjolele!!! Another great review Ms. B🤗🤗🤗Peace&love!!!
IAM! What’s up?! How’ve you been?!
I’m doing good Ms. B🤗, I was just a bit busy. Right at this moment I’m trying to get over my cough😓. ✌🏻&❤️
Hi Ivette! 👋🏼
An outdoor ukulele?! Those look so nice! I haven’t played one yet, but I’ve seen them all over the Internet. Having a travel uke is great. My little travel flight is awesome because of how small it is and the plastic means I can just throw it in my gig bag ❤️
Ivette Pache I have one. It’s only good for strumming.
So glad you do these great reviews. Save us alot of money and time . Thank you..😊
Bernadette, thank you for reviewing the banjolele!
Loved it loved it. Oh and loved the cat and the Ukulele too. Brian
It felt floppy :(
If they had a $50 upgrade for a hard case I would pay for that in a heartbeat!
Wow! A banjo Ukulele... I like the white because it appears to be a "mini" banjo! It seems so different, but actually it isn't is it? ! Sounds very nice... Enjoyed your review! Good job!
I just got a banjolele for Christmas! (It’s my first ukulele, but certainly not my first banjo!)
Oh how fun!!! 💛
Did you get the Gold Tone banjo uke?
No, I got this one from a brand called Vangoa, after I setted it up (like place the bridge in the correct spot and change strings) it sounds great! I plan to possibly replace the head (the drum skin) with a real calf skin eventually one day (which will improve the tone a lot!)
Interestingly that Gold Tone looks a lot like my main banjo (which is a Deering Goodtime!) because of the maple neck!
Yeah I agree tuning is critical on any resonator instrument. Let me just say you would stand out in any crowd 😂👍
Goldtone is quite underground famous for quality instruments. Musicians from Luke combs to Dan Weller have a goldtone. They have their own RUclips channel as I recall.
I would say spend the money to get a better gig bag, but I agree with you that the ruler is a magnificent idea and very unique.
Yes! The ruler was a great add on! I was very happy about that 🤗🤗
Great review, I love the colour 😀
I love mine. It lights up.
I think I'd rather spend a bit more and get a nicer gig bag, especially for such a specialized instrument.
Thanks I am already taking notes
Nice. Maybe you can show us some strumming patterns for the banjolele like Formby style or claw hammer.
Hi Steven! 👋🏼
I’m going to have to ask my music professor about those first! Anytime there’s something I’m not great at, I go back to him for advice and his teachings 😃
Great review and charming personality :) Subscribed! Thank you from Belgium
I think if you search for a banjolele gig bag specifically, you’ll find round shaped ones quickly. I have my eye on the Luna one. Haha or a harpalele
oh yeah, there are options for gig bags, it's just a much more limited market. Gold Tone's resonator ukulele gig bag was incredible. I wish they would have made this one's gig bag the same. It was padded and lined, and very elevated.
Yeah, I guess it just depends on what price they think will sell more. Or maybe once they see how well it sells then they’ll make a better one?
Yeah you never know! Bondi Ukuleles seriously stepped up their gig bag game up. They made really big strides in that department. Love it.
Oooh I love it. Have u heard of a song called “traveling soldier” by the Dixie chicks? I think this instrument would sound great for that song. And Tennessee whiskey
Haven’t heard of traveling soldier, but I have heard of Tennessee whiskey!
I used to listen to the Dixie chicks, back when landslide came out. But yesterday I heard traveling soldier on The Voice. Sung by Chevel. It’s such a good song. I tried to find a tutorial, but there r only covers on RUclips. I did find the chords online, but I can’t get the strumming pattern to sound right
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Love the song "Tennessee whiskey!"
It's true it doesn't sound fantastic out of the box, but take a little time tweaking the setup and it rings like a bell!
Ahh, you may need to get a little amp and a microphone!
wow, not only is it a fun instrument, mix of hillbilly/hawaii cultures in it, but your fingers move so feminine and smooth, it's almost calming to look at! 😄
Very thoughtful giveaway!
Maria was so welcoming when we arrived in Maryland. She had put together a care package and everything. It was so heartwarming.
I've seen these little babies before. Lovely vibrant colours. Some real twangy sounds going on there. Bit loud lol. Gig bag wise, I'd rather pay more for a better quality one. I love the ending with Arigato! I think you should do that as the norm lol.
Aw this looks really cute! Hopefully one day I'll become a really good ukulele player and have a reason to buy it :)
You should set a song milestone!
Like this, “When I am able to play the song ______, I will buy my banjolele!”
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic that is such a great idea! Do you have any song suggestion for me to put in mind?
Diana Prince I have a good song that sounds great on banjolele , any bluegrass song lmao. But seriously I’m not wrong

Please, make some tutorials for country songs on banjolele! Love you. I've learned to play the uke thanks to you.

LOL
Finaly! I am so happy! I have one! Not red, but also very cute!
Ohhh!! Really?! Which one do you have?
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic I have the kmise, it is very cute, nice sound. Hard to tune A, but after it is tuned it sounds really good. If you could just show how to play the way you did in the beginning of this video slowly, it would be great
Hi Bernadette - one thing you didnt cover was how you could attach a strap - it looks as if there is a strap button on the tail (no idea if that terminology is correct) but there was only a very short glimpse of it so I'm not sure and it looked covered. It is heavier than a normal uke so you really need a strap. Alan
Hi Alan,
I am not sure that it has a strap button, but The Hug Strap is designed for all types of ukuleles, even if they don't have strap buttons, so that one would definitely work on this one!
Really really fun instrument!!
Ahahahaaaaa!!! I know which episode you might be referring to!! I love anytime the Nard dog played and sang!!!
I love love love The Office!!
Mighty purty. I like the gig bag just fine.
Thank you, a wonderful and fair review.
That head shape is very banjo like.
I want one so badly now!
Hi Arlene! 👋🏼
Thank you for your comment.
@@eviltwin2322 I don't ever intend to move it. Thanks.
Interesting video. A couple of our band players have banjoleles and you are right they do stand out from the rest of us. This is fine until they make a mistake and then they are really noticed! Reckon they are probably best as a solo instrument. Love and best wishes to you and your family, cats included. Ken XXX.

@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Hi, Yes the spot one gets "uke arm".
Wow! I really like it😍😍😍

I love your cats 😺 I have 3 lol
I think if you're going out of the way to buy a banjolele and not just a typical uke then I would prefer to pay the extra cash for a quality gig bag.
It's beautiful
It's a nice instrument, but I prefer a traditional ukulele. Wondering, though, is the body prone to scratching? It looks like it could be easily scratched. Good to see AriGato. What a ham! 😺
Hi Lauren! 👋🏼
Ohh, that's a good question.
That is a nice instrument and it sounds good!!!!!!!!))) Beautiful lady. I play 6 and 12 string guitar just bought countryman pro banjolele to add to my collection :)
I play a banjo and red is my favorite color
Hi Tim!

Are you going to teach some music with this banjolele? Please!!!!!!
Ah! I don’t think I can squeeze it in. I’m giving this one away on Saturday!
