    Thanks for sharing! I purchased a tenor Outdoor Ukulele after watching a couple of your videos. I love it and play it daily. I saw the Outdoor Banjolele on Facebook and came straight here to see how it sounded! Great video. Looks like I'm buying a Banjolele.

    I too love the Outdoor Ukulele. I have the Banjolele, Purple Tenor in low G, Blue tenor in high G, and Green Tenor in high G. One day I will get their carbon fiber Tenor too. LOL

    Thanks for the video. I'm enjoying mine now. Also, for anyone who is interested: A & F Style Mandolin Gig Bag fits this instrument decently.

    Hello! I am considering buying this instrument and came across this review!! I was curious how the sound quality compares to any non-outdoor tenor banjo-ukes you have played before. I have a concert and baritone uke and really want to expand to a banjo uke with that nice twangy sound, and I'm wondering how the sound on this measures up!

    I loved the box of my OU Tenor that I moved it to Switzerland when I moved from California :)

    Holy smokes that sounds LOUD! My upstairs neighbors would really be stomping on the floor😂 I really like OU's go anywhere and be reliable concepts. Great playing as always👍👍

    Thanks for the review! I dig your spirit and your playing. I noticed you had a review on a Slingerland Maybell with Mickey on the front, and wondered about your take on which banjo you like better, sound wise, playability, staying in tune etc? thanks!

    • @PeteyMack64
      @PeteyMack64  4 года назад

      Oh the slingerland was crazy loud, the both of them have a good tone.. the slingerland was more of a soprano scale the OU is a tenor and much easier for me with my huge hands to play.

    Questions for you! Is there a way to tighten the Remo head on these? You did mention the ability to replace if anything goes awry. And also, would you trust the internal bracing as a connection point to say, strap this baby to a backpack?

    • @PeteyMack64
      @PeteyMack64  5 лет назад +1

      withelisa I’m pretty sure you can adjust the head, no problem but the manufacturer doesn’t recommend tightening the head because the tightness of the head effects the action height on the strings.. and the bracing seems really sturdy but I’m not sure I personally would be comfortable using that way... a banjo strap attached to the screws that attach the head would work I believe

      @@PeteyMack64 excellent. I have their soprano coming in the mail now for an upcoming plane flight but- I'm sure I'll also end up with this banjolele soon lol. I'm usually a banjo player and it's just too cool to resist. Thank you so much for sharing and replying ☺ cheers

    If I can ask, what are your picking patterns? You’ve got a wonderful banjo rolling pattern that I’d like to try. Thanks much!

      Heyyah!!! Thank you so very much! It’s all basic... I just use a 4-1-3-2 finger pick with my thumb and index finger

    Not only does it not come with a gig bag, but Outdoor Ukuleles doesn't offer one at the moment. Have you come up with one for yours?

    • @PeteyMack64
      @PeteyMack64  5 лет назад +1

      briarroot I do not have a case no... but I have been told that some are buying mandolin gig bags and they are fitting nicely

      I didn’t find a banjolele case on their site nor a mandolin case that worked but I found a tennis racket case at a second hand store that works for me.

    Morning, Petey!
    Can a remo head get wet? I play in the pool but this doesn't look like it would be truly waterproof. Is it?

    • @PeteyMack64
      @PeteyMack64  6 лет назад +4

      Actually yes.. it’s made of Mylar and can get wet..if it had been a traditional skin type then no

    Looking to Order the OU banjolele and wanted a few more thoughts on it Pete, since you review (which is excellent).
    Was there any reason you got yours with the coated head, verses the clear head?
    Specifically, do you think one or the other, might be brighter in tone and of less importance any thoughts if one head might be more prone to showing scuffs or other marks from playing?
    Second, since the OU banjolele doesn't have a typical setup for banjoleles, that allow one to maintain and tighten the J-hooks and Tension bar, does the unique honeycomb radial bracing, maintain the tension for you now, compared to the tension setup during assembly by OU.
    Do you think an owner of the OU can change heads later on (most likely by a Luthier) and get the necessary tension, necessary for most banjoleles/banjos?
    Third, is the through bridge on the OU banjolele, easy to find the "sweet spot" and maintain good intonation, up the fretboard?
    Also, since you have had it a little longer now, do you still have the stock High g D'Addario strings on it or tried any others yet?
    Again, looking for your insight in possible, on choosing strings, that sound a bit brighter, but retain a more authentic banjo sound.
    My wife LOVES her OU Limited edition "Amethyst" tenor and had the Aquila Reds, with a Low G and gives her tenor a fuller tone.
    Scott at OU said the only reason he no longer offers the Reds as an option, was people not installing them according to Mimmo's instructions and not understanding that Reds, are more sensitive to extreme fluctuations in temperature and need to be mindful of if that's feel and tone, are what your looking for. Never broke a set of Reds on 2 of Baritones ukuleles and only had 2 breaks on her Tenor ukuleles in the same 5 years we've both use and prefer on our ukuleles.
    I'd Possibly consider Aquila's Sugers or Carbon black strings as well.
    This is going to be a 35th wedding anniversary present and I've looked at many Brands of banjoleles and eliminates some, like the Deering Goodtime banjolele $$$$ and smaller nut sizes (like the Gold Tone Bu-1, that has a narrow 1 3/16" nut), frequently used for banjoleles and with smaller 8" pots, they're inherently brighter.
    So, the OU banjolele is still my first choice, the Duke 10 from New Zealand (both with larger heads, that can be changed to the Renaissance head for example) and my send choise, is actually the Gold Tone little gem, which is a smaller scale, but has a slightly narrower nut, (at 1 3/8" nut) than OU banjolele that's a very comfortable 1.5" nut.
    I know, lots of questions, that you may not be able to answer, but highly respect your opinions on ukuleles and now the OU Banjolele.
    I've already talked to Scott about several of these questions about the OU banjolele, but hoping you might be able to offer your own perspective and thoughts.
    Thank you Pete, for all your demonstrations and review of OU products, as well as any and all responses you're able to make.
    Best Regards,
    Denny

    Did you like the reentrant tuning, or did it make you wish for a low G?

    • @PeteyMack64
      @PeteyMack64  6 лет назад +2

      I go back and forth... if it’s high G traditional claw hammer sounds great and low G sounds good for other songs.. but right now I’m just happy with the reentrant
