As someone who didn't get into the animes due to not being born yet, this taught me two things. 1. I REALLY know nothing about Pokémon and 2. I definitely don't have the brain capacity to learn now 😭
I've reached the point where I'm actually invested in the presenters. I care about them. I hope they do okay and would like to help that happen if I can. It's a bit weird, but pulling 24hr shifts while working on deadly stuff for the last 7 years does that to you. I tend to just whack on an OX/OXtra playlist when I'm trying to rest up on a recovery day and just doze through it as a kind of youtube comfort blanket. I think the pandemic will have done this to more people. Saying this as a 27yr old with pretty much no interest in pokémon who still made it through this entire video and enjoyed it.
I feel like it's actually easier if you are not into pokemon. Kinda hurts if you are tbh.. Haha

This is Luke’s slow descent into madness. By the end he’s just looking at nothing muttering Pokémon names quietly to himself.

I feel their pain, back in the 90's I used to have a Pinsir and I grew to deeply hate it. I for one would've gotten permanently stuck Paras and Parasect
I love how Jon pops on screen between Luke and Ellen from time to time like the benevolent god of pokemon to grant friendly reminders and emotional support. I adore these people. They are good for my heart.

@@marhawkman303 I was able to pull 121 in the 15min which I'm pretty proud of. I think if I didn't need to type, and more importantly spell, and could have just rattled them off to someone I would have gotten it done

Pretty much, ntm watching then has made me okay so many games that I would otherwise have ignored
yes - i have no consoles and the only computer game I play that they covered a time or two is Cities Skylines but I've watched them daily for years and years.
Luke saying this video isn't going to be interesting to anyone who likes pokemon or anyone who doesn't - what about the middle ground of people who enjoy watching other people visibly lose their minds over the course of 40 minutes?

I tried to do the quiz without pausing the timer, and i accidently scrolled too far down and saw "1 of 8." Im going to try to do all of them in one sitting one day, lol.
I might be able to do gen 2, gen 3 will be about 70%, and after that I might have like 20%, at most.

I have just spent the last 47 minutes watching two grown adults drive themselves mad over trying to remember Pokemon. And it was amazing.

First time Producer Jon shows up in the Pokemon box, I'm like "oh, that's a cool new Pokemon"
I really appreciate you took the time to add the photo of every pokemon on screen when their names were spoken, it really helped me understand what was going on, being a person who has never played pokemon

i love having this on in the background because 1) the music is so pleasant and nostalgic and 2) it’s like i’m in an office where two of my co-workers in the desk over have decided this is the right use of their work day time.

I think this is the closest to a breakdown ive seen Luke. Not even soulsborn gets him this crazy
This and the Dicebreaker Werewolf stream are the two that I can think of.
I think he got pretty close in all the Orphan of Kos attempts, but then he also reached a level of "don't care just want it dead" where he wasn't even worked up about it anymore. He was sort of getting there with Pinsir when he was discussing them just giving up on it. Just being so done with even trying to get it.

@@jonathandavies1716 He did get close to dropping them in Bloodborne though, lol. I feel sure in the edited together Let's Play Luke part of the Orphan of Kos fight that he was swearing since he knew it would get edited out in some way. I'm tackling Bloodborne myself and of all the FromSoftware games, it's the one that makes me swear the most and I swear a ton already.
Little tip, the chalice dungeons are an excellent way to gain levels rapidly if you're really struggling and need a boost.
@@scottneil1187 Thanks! I'll have my first chalice after I defeat the Blood-Starved Beast. Djura is giving me hell and I got killed in that big underground room place with all the cloaked figures. I'd killed a good many that followed me up to the platform above that room, but the room wasn't as clear as I'd hoped when I went back down. I forgot about dropping the chandelier on them and I had over 9500 echoes on me. I know it's not that many all things considered, but I want them back. I'm going to work my way back there hoping I don't die so I can grab them, and then use a bold hunter's mark to get back to a lantern to go level up. Fortunately, I'd already decided that I wasn't going to try to befriend Djura and I've doubled down on that, lol. I don't care about getting the gesture since I'm not playing online anyway. I'll try a chalice dungeon after I take care of the Blood-Starved Beast.
I haven't been struggling too much until now. Cleric Beast took 4 attempts. I beat Gascoigne on the first attempt; spammed the music box in both phases and got to the stairs on the right so I wouldn't get caught up in the gravestones, and I just went to town on him with the saw cleaver. He wasn't in phase 2 for very long, lol. I think I'm level 20-something now and my saw cleaver is +3 or +4 already. Whatever level it's at I need twin bloodstone shards now to level it up again instead of the single ones.

I haven't touched pokemon in years and I died several times
Honestly, having Paras as a close favorite hurt as well.
I always remember Venonat and Tangela because I feel like I only ever encountered them in the water bit below Pallet Town and that's memorable to me for some reason.
My mind immediately went to Pinsir when they went through the butterfree ones because I can never forget in that early episode I thought Metapod was gonna freaking die to the Pinsir because Ash didn't understand a thing about pokemons.
The only thing that actually reminded me of Pinsir was a mental image of one "chewing" on a pokémon with its pincers. I suppose that was the Metapod hehe
@@TheKaoticSanity I play a lot of Pokemon Go that just had a Kanto based event and still, the only way I figured out that they were missing Pinsir was the mental image of Metapod's almost demise.
Clearly the trauma of that almost metapod-murder was oppositely effective toward Oxtra & thus repressed alongside other childhood terrors, like the ending of James & The Giant Peach (which i assume, Because Roald Dahl, i've forgotten for A Good Reason).

This was a bloody excellent video. It reminded me of the Show of the Weekend challenges and I've deeply missed those. Also, watching Luke and Ellen slowly losing their minds over the course of two hours (or 45 minutes for us) was utterly hilarious. Luke's cheer at the end sounded primal, the poor soul. Well done to all three of you!

I think I got Gloom when they did. I was struggling to remember the name. I could picture it but there was a massive blank space where the name should have been. That said, my knowledge comes strictly from Pokemon Go since I never got into Pokemon when it was popular when I was a kid (grew up in the height of Pokemon mania when my dad, an elementary school principal, was confiscating Pokemon cards all over the place).
Magneton was mine. And Dodrio. As well as Gloom. and Weedle since they didn't fill it in for so long.
Totally forgot Pinsir though.
