Rafa is actually right about the poster. The characteriations of the characters are slightly different but the poses and positions of the characcters are the same as the real poster
‘How did they know about this? It’s very accurate’ They explained that at the start of the episode when he’s reading the poster. The author travelled around the world and interviewed tons of people they interacted with. I was actually hoping to hear your guys reaction to ‘and a surprisingly knowledgeable cabbage merchant.’ But I think you guys were gassing up the poster art while they were saying that lmao
Also, many of the inaccuracies in the play are supposed to be due to the fact that the director and his actors don't quite understand how some of these things are actually supposed to function. One example is Ty Lee's chi blocking. The people they talked to were able to describe the effects of what happened but they did not quite understand how what Ty lee did to them correlated to what actually happened.
16:49 I didn't even have to remind them lol... Raphael remembered the "rocky relationship" line that he himself predicted would come up episodes ago. LOL I near died when he reacted. I was waiting on this episode just to say something.
Honestly, the movie isn't exactly inaccurate. It really is a Cliff Notes of Season. Accuracy isn't the issue: everything else is. 1. Bad Directing (Shymalan clearly was in over his head on directing an Avatar film) 2. Bad Acting (this goes without saying; a better director could have gotten a lot more from his cast) 3. Bad Script (all character are walking exposition dumps) 4. Terrible Pacing (no room to allow for characterization, just jump to the next scene because there's less then 2 hours for the whole film!) 5. Cheap Effects and lots of Blue Screen (honestly minor if 1-4 didn't exist) It would take a very skilled Director, a better script that (honestly) has to trim other details and give more meat to the important ones and a longer film length (the Director has final say on scripts). Shymalan wasn't the man for the job.
Fun fact: The actor who played Toph is a reference to her original character prototype, where she was originally a tall, buff man like in the show's opening.
It's weird for Sokka to say we should waste time he's normally the one telling everyone they can't waste any time such and such is two days away lol. I see you Sokka. He tryna spend some time with Suki subtly lol.
Its actually meta thing from the writers. The whole episode is that even the fact that they skipped the great divide because they ran it so many times that everyone hated it.
17:05 Yes, you are Sokka and Sokka is you XD Great reaction to this episode! It’s super lighthearted but it’s very necessary since the previous one was pretty heavy and dark. Plus it helps remind you how much the GAang has been through, and it isn’t filler since it features fire nation propaganda influencing people to actively root for the main characters to die and the main characters reacting to that knowledge. And it’s hilarious how the play is just the writers poking fun at their own show, a meta commentary recap if you will. Some things to note about the play: - Actor Aang being played by a woman was to emasculate him and make him seem weaker, and therefore the Firelord more powerful to the very loyal and patriotic fire nation audience, and how historically, real life plays often portray women characters by men and little boy characters by women, Peter Pan being one example - Actor Katara being overdramatic and preachy about hope was due to how a lot of the fanbase perceived her when the series first aired - Actor Sokka likewise was perceived as just the funny guy who likes to eat, also voiced by Scott Menville, most known for voicing Robin in Teen Titans, who also did the voice for several minor characters throughout the ATLA series - Actor Toph being a really buff guy is due to the original idea of her character being exactly that before the writers changed their mind and decided to go with a little blind girl, and because the people who contributed to making the play probably didn’t want to admit to being beat up by said little blind girl XD - Actor Zuko’s scar being on the wrong side is due to having a brief moment of it being on the wrong side during The Firebending Masters episode when they saw the rainbow fire, and supposedly the scar being on the wrong side happened various times when they were editing episodes before they aired - Them skipping over The Great Divide is due to the fanbase considering it the worst episode of the series because Nickelodeon rerun that episode a lot since it’s a simple self-contained story - People yawning during The Drill was because a lot of people found it boring, but I personally really love it, especially when Aang runs down the wall with the avatar theme playing - Jet’s death being really unclear was because Nickelodeon wouldn’t allow the writers to feature death on screen, or their original idea of letting Long Shot mercy kill Jet, hence the ambiguous ending for Jet, Long Shot, and Smellerbee - The play at least is better than the live action movie, seriously Also, I definitely recommend reacting to the final 4 episodes in one sitting! They premiered together are are meant to be viewed as if a mini-movie, but still feel free to upload the episodes individually! Can’t wait for your reaction!
I think you sort of mixed up two of the o points. The yawning during the Drill episode was because that was the episode that kept playing over and over, as well as it being part of an hour long special from what I remember. The Great Divide is just the episode everyone doesn’t like, hence why they completely skip it.
Yasssss I loved this episode. Been waiting for this episode ever since Raphael made that Rocky Relationship joke to prove he's not Sokka. 😂Seeeee you're Sokka in real life confirmed!
A) its just a fun excuse to replay the show in a creative way and you shouldnt worry about who wrote it or 'how they know' B) they give a joking excuse saying its written with the help of a 'surprisingly knowledgeable cabbage merchant'
I love how the "in-universe" explanation of why Toph is portrayed as a muscular man is because no one would admmit they got their asses handed to them by a blind little girl
10:53 I love how they casted Toph. The Firenation must be terrified of "Toph", they must have heard stories about "Toph" but not known she's a little girl lol
2:22 The Playwright scoured the globe gathering information, that's how they knew what was going on. Of course some information is skewed because of perspective and misunderstandings.
"I can't be Sokka" is totally Sokka, the exact jokes. XD Sokka vs Rapha is the fight I wanna see. But actually, technically, Rapha is stealing Sokka's jokes because this joke came out years ago. Sorry bro.
I just realized something. If you notice the playwrights made it seem like Katara agreed with Jet wiping out the fire nation village, because she is the enemy in the fire nations perspective when in reality she obviously wanted to save the village.
This is basically Avatar bridge it takes the everything you know about The last Airbender and they're compresses it and spits it out in a way that's both comedic and funny that everybody can relate to and it's a harsh reality check for the main characters one last funny joke before it all ties together.
Fun fact: the voice actor of Actor Sokka is Scott Menville, the voice of Robin in Teen Titans. He’s also played a handful of side characters in Avatar: the juggler from the fire festival, one of the earthbending jerks Katara bullies, the messager that gave Aang the map to Katara’s dad, and the “I was here first” guy from the Great Divide. One guy, one show, so many characters.
I KNEW I recognized sokkas voice actor and the juggler! I couldnt place it it was bothering me because when I looked up the juggler I didnt know what to call him so I couldnt find him! It was so familiar thabk you!😇

This is a recap episode done right. Of course it would end with the “good guys” winning because they’re in the Fire Nation. Toph was a guy because in pre-production she was supposed to be a guy but thank God that Aaron Ehasz thought Toph would be a girl instead. I never have subscribed to the theory that she was a guy just because Fire Nation didn’t want to admit that a blind girl beat them up.
I mean is there any reason it can't be both, and it's not really the fire nation for the most part that she's fought it's random people in the earth kingdom, and they would certainly talk about how they got taken down by a giant with the strength of ten men, not a twelve year old girl to make themselves not look silly
Just as I commented on JerzeyBoyz's channel, I'm yet to see a reaction of this episode where the reactors don't miss the sources for the play 😄. When I heard the "rocky relationship" joke in that previous episode, I also had the same reaction and I've been waiting for you guys to realize it too.
This is maybe almost my favourite episode of Avatar. But the thing I like the most about this episode is the fictional stage production of the play. From all the stage acting to the things that the players use. They really must have had researched about stage production. Because it is just fantastic in this episode. :)
When Raphael first made that “rocky relationship” joke, I couldn’t contain my laughter. It came full circle and I’m so glad he brought it up again. Cannot wait for you guys to see the finale. It’s phenomenal!
thanks for the reaction as always guys, u know i appreciate it! the best recap/parody episode in a show of all time. and its of ITSELF. avatar is goated bro. also, the playright knows because it says he interviewed prisoners of war, aka the ppl captures at the day of black sun, who know about their whole journey as they told them theirself
The lines on the way out after Team Avatar watched the play are jabs at… huh. That’s weird… I can’t remember what I was going to say. What were we talking about again? A bad movie? Oh yes! Avatar: The Last Airbender! But, there’s no mention of it being a movie here in Ba Sing Se…
15:21 Yes, that is literally all that Toph is. She never had no change. Toph is just action and jokes. Nothing more. 18:36 He really got excited :D 20:36 Yeah thats how it went. Zuko, the evil guy, just suddenly joined them. 22:03 The end quickly felt threatening, maybe it is the of the show...
its a cool episode to recap the show!! Creators did good. But boy I Remember when my bro Raphael told that joke! Lol i was like Holy 💩 wait untill he sees the last episodes 😂 and finds out sokka did said it. Wow Bro! You def have sokka's humor. 🙌🏻😅☺️ we all knew it.. lol This is it.. Finale!! 🔥🔥
Fun fact the reason Toph is portrayed like a buff guy is because when the play writer went to do research the fire nation soldiers were embarrassed a little girl kicked their ass so they lied and said it was a buff guy
I'm just prepping you guys right now not to roll your eyes at my comment when I need to see your Avatar Korra reaction. Cause this absolute masterpiece of a show finishes in 4 quick but amazing episodes.
The funniest part is that Raphael made the *"rocky relationship"* joke to prove that his humour is NOTHING like Sokka's 😂😂
Lmao the irony
LOL
At least he's proud of it now 😂
That long silence as it sinks in.
haha fr
I love the theory that Toph was played by a huge buff man because nobody wanted to admit that they got curb stomped by a tiny blind 12 year old girl.😂
Raphael deadass popped off at the same time Sokka did about his joke. You are the same person my guy.
Fun facts:
- actress Katara was voiced by Grey Delisle (azula's voice actress)
- The kid that said"your scar's on the wrong side" was voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen (aang's voice actor)
- King bumi & jet's actors were voiced by Dee Bradley Baker (appa & momo's sound maker)
- Yue's actress was voiced by Jennie kwan ( suki's voice actress)
- last but not least actor Toph & actor uncle were voiced by the same person ( John Dimaggio )

- Actor Zuko’s scar being on the wrong side is due to having a brief moment of it being on the wrong side during The Firebending Masters episode when they saw the rainbow fire, and supposedly the scar being on the wrong side happened various times when they were editing episodes before they aired
- Them skipping over The Great Divide is due to the fanbase considering it the worst episode of the series because Nickelodeon rerun that episode a lot since it’s a simple self-contained story
