  • A Westport Coastguard unit scatter 32 roses at the Point, Westport, close to the site of the sinking of the yawl "Victory " which was carrying over 130 people for transfer to a larger ship, The Elm, to be transported on to Scotland, where they were employed to pick potatoes, known as tattie hokers, on 14.6.1894.
    This was the 130th anniversary of the tragedy.
