Amazing work man! It all looks incredible! It’s also super refreshing to watch one of these were the person isn’t dunking on themselves saying how much they hate a lot of the work ❤️ Can’t wait till the other sleeve is done and you make another 🔥
Henry is the best. I have two original paintings by him, a few prints, and two tattoos, but I need to get to Philadelphia at some point to do my chest. Also, thank you for watching!
This was so cool to hear you talk about your tattoo journey and all the designs. I am a big fan of the American traditional style so this was really inspiring, thanks for being so open and honest! Also that floral wrist cuff is stunning such a flawless concept and its a really striking image.
@@UXmatt Of course! Quick question were the flowers inspired by anything in particular? Because idk if you have seen the show but they look just like the white lotus from Avatar the Last Airbender?
He’s great and super a nice guy. I’m hoping to make it back Colorado sometime soon. I want another piece by Nate + a few things from folks at Til Death Denver + Cori James’ new shop.
Thank you! I just got a new camera (and a bunch of tattoos over the last year), so I’m going to do a update right after my next tattoo (with Teide of all people)
Wow! I'm from Clarksville and graduated from APSU. Now I live in Michigan! I just stumbled upon your video while researching American Traditional tattoos because I started my right arm sleeve in March 2022. (I have 4 tattoos on my arm so far and a total of 9 tattoos on my body.) So funny that I found your channel and you were in Clarksville and Michigan! Love your tattoos! And I also love that you're in academics and collect tattoos! Very cool! ✌🏾💜
I’m having the hardest time with Instagram making me think realism is the most incredible tattooing available. Then I got a decent sized expensive realism piece and when it’s fresh it’s breathtaking but as it’s healed it’s not very bold and strong and it has a lot of grey which makes it less strong. I’m new to tattoos this was my first tattoo and now I’m really starting to understand why traditional tattoos are so good. Do you have any experience with realism vs traditional??
@@B1gtommy Thanks for watching. I only have traditional tattoos (part of my background is in folk art, so it appealed to me immediately). My partner has a few tattoos that are non-traditional, mostly black and grey, but they all have super heavy line work. So, I can't speak to realism vs traditional from personal experience, but I think (as a non-artist) that it all comes down to the structure that a heavy, bold outline provides that lends longevity and clarity. It seems to function like an armature or frame that holds everything together.
@@UXmatt thanks 😊 so much for your response you and your partner seem so cool 😎. Ya I agree with you that bold traditional is the way to go there’s something about it that draws me in more than realism. How has your color held up over the years?? Has it faded the same as black??
I would say some of your tattoos might fall under the “neo-traditional” category as well! I’m the same way, while most of mine could be seen as American traditional they do have some neo traditional elements as well :)
more of a traditional / neo traditional mix but you have some nice tattoos man. would enjoy doing all those, im sure you're a cool client to work with.
I was hoping you go into detail on why you got each tattoos. Your tattoos came out good, but usually there is meaning behind each one instead of just getting ones that look cool.
Thanks for watching! None of my tattoos really have much meaning, to be honest. Not the ones that I covered in this video at least (I've gotten quite a few new one as of late - some of them have meaning, mostly pet portraits). But, for me at least, it's mostly just I want a tattoo of something that I think looks aesthetically pleasing or interesting.
I’m a big fan of traditional, I have a few but my questions is can you keep trad tats black and grey/white? I like a little bit of color here n there but is there anything wrong with getting trad tats in black and grey/white?
Yeah, there are a lot of artists who primarily tattoo in black/grey with some white highlights, etc. in the traditional space/genre. It's all good. For example, @blackbearwhiskey does a lot of incredible work primarily in black/grey, but he does do color as well. He has a private studio in GA. Incredible stuff.
Thank you! Becca Lerner did one (she just did a chest/neck collar for me that I love) and Murray Sell did the other arm. They're both incredible people.
All I am covered in is black ink traditional...full sleeves, packed with bad luck, with old school star and dot filler. Serenity prayer on other forearm, N/A symbol then packed with old school. Back of my neck, I did my legs. If anyone reads this, and are in Toronto, swing by Hydra on Danforth. Much love
If you’re still in Tennessee, check out some tattoos by Nick Moran at Riverside Tattoo in Knoxville. He and I are working on finishing a sleeve on my left arm and I believe he does amazing work.
I'm in Michigan now, BUT I just added Moran on IG. Looks like he's coming to Detroit in March this year....might be able to do something. Thanks for watching and for the recommendation!

@@themeatinthemiddle Thank you! Seriously, that was super, super kind. I really appreciate it.

Murray Sells is awesome!!! I did a guest at Grace and Glory and it was really fun. I was lucky enough to get a tattoo from Murray
