I admit I've come to Peter Murphy a bit late. I always liked Bela Lugosi and Parties and then thought A Strange Kind Of Love was such a beautiful song. Then I kind of lost him. Recently I came across him again and my god he's done some fantastic stuff over the years, hasn't he? And his voice is still incredible - strong, with so much feeling. He really "gives". I would LOVE to see him live as the videos I've watched of him performing live are truly spectacular. Every rendition I've seen of Uneven and Brittle makes me well up. I'm doing my best to "catch up" at the moment and I'm sure many of his songs will become firm favourites for me. Thank you Mr Murphy for continuing to share your prodigious talent with the rest of us. Love from the U.K.
I might as well tell this story, & maybe others did the same? The first time I ever saw Peter Murphy or knew anything about him was seeing the 1983 vampire film "The Hunger" with Catherine Deneuve & David Bowie & Susan Sarandon, which has some beautiful scenes, especially the historical flashbacks; BUT the BEST part is the beginning, at a club where his band is playing (whether they are supposed to be Bauhaus or not IDK?) ~~~ & I went to every showing for two weeks, JUST to see HIM!!! Luckily, I took that semester off! LOVED him ever since!
His voice is unreal. The first time I saw him live, long time ago, I was enchanted by his voice. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe how I felt. One of the best artist/singer alive.
One of my fave vinyls is Bauhaus In the Flat Fields. I stopped playing it for a while. Then watched his live performance with Reznor doing Reptile live. Now I’m here in a Peter Murphy rabbit hole haha

True music with soul and depth, Peter Murphy has never sold his artistry of lyrics and his voice to the cheap mainstream ... humble, sophisticated and intelligent!

Great performance even without a stage setup. They created their own atmosphere with their music and energy. That was raw and I don't think I have ever seen that done before. I am very impressed!
I love Murphy since the '80s and his voice is exactly as it was then. Incredible. And those super intense blue eyes. Whoa. The bare stomach - maybe not, but he's earned it. Poor man had stenting done in 2019, but he's one of the very lucky ones to still be here and doing so well (hopefully).
It's just your voice and only your voice that has carried me through the end of the Cold war. I love You Peter. Thank You for making my childhood livable.
If I had a time machine, this concert would be my first stop. Thank you Peter Murphy, the musicians and everybody involved in bringing this to me, thank you very much.
His voice has maintained its level of quality over the years because he rarely if every uses his head voice or falsetto. It's all in the mid range of chest voice as i call it and that is much more likely to hold up over time or in a long show. Exactly the same with Neil Diamond. He sings in his natural speaking pitch level and he's doing well in live shows 50 years later. Now when you look at singers who constantly use the head voice, falsetto and rasp (i.e., Vince Neil, Axl Rose, David Lee Roth etc etc) it becomes much less likely to sustain the level of quality over time.
_"With mistakes that you do mean."_ _"Look for what seems out of place."_ Murphy drops some esoteric wisdom / spycraft in _Cuts You Up,_ for those with ears to hear...
I've watched this quite a lot over the last few years and I think it's awesome. Good songs, fantastic sound, great musicians -- it's excellent. I wish I could've been there. Bit far for me in the UK though! Thank you technology for enabling me to see this wonderful gig. Love to everybody...
watching him reminds me of how awesome we can be as humans....bless you, Peter Murphy.....peace is coming.....and you will have left the human race better off than before......
Che potenza Peter Murphy ancora oggi!!! Indistruttibile. Fantastico concerto e ottima band. Bei pezzi suoi che non conoscevo, raffinati, belli davvero. Complimenti Peter. Saluta la stupenda Turchia.
So glad I found this. What a talent even after all these years. Bauhaus still will always be my favorite band and my the reason I started playing music. The voice is still the same. Thanks for uploading!
Disappointed they didn't play their major radio hit, and the song that got me interested in Peter's music enough to buy the CD back in 80's. I always wondered how they would be able to perform that bass violin thing live in concert, since it is so delicate and perfect. It would be easy to mess that up live. Oh well, at least he played Strange Kind of Love, which is one of those songs that should have been a major hit but wasn't, and instead had become one of his secret jewels awaiting music lovers to discover with headphones on.
not so much contradiction as context "Murphy was arrested on suspicion of causing injuries while driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, felony hit-and-run and possessing methamphetamine, police said." www.latimes.com/socal/glendale-news-press/news/tn-818-0318-british-goth-rocker-arrested-for-alleged-dui-hitandrun-in-glendale-story.html
There is not another singer alive whose voice remains unchanged and as strong as ever since the 1980's. Phenomenal.
Peter Gabriel.
Good point, only that Peter can't quite hit the range Murphy can.
Mike Ness from Social Distortion is the same way. Amazing voices!!!
the tyrant harry conklin would disagree
I agree! Robert Smith also continues to amaze me.
Peter Murphy = Art.
This guy is an absolute legend. His voice not even swayed by the passing of time!!
Coz he's a vampire. Duh
Peter Murphy is an artist gifted with a beautiful voice
BAUHAUS and DALI'S CAR are proof of his sublime artistry
Thanks for posting this video
Dali's Car,one of my favorite album in the eighties.
@@68lemonk Para mim também, junto aos álbuns do Bauhaus, tenho os discos em vinil
Tenho os LP Dalis Car e os álbuns do Bauhaus. Concordo plenamente
His voice brings me to tears.

He makes it look so easy. Maybe he is a god...
Indeed, he is one of the select few.💙🌀🙏🏻
I'm here enjoying this gig.
Hello from Atlanta. 9.4.24
LOL I love this. This is some shit I would do.
Peter Murphy never fails to sing out 100% This is a really good showing for such a small venue.I've liked him since Bauhaus days enough said.
Legendary Peter Murphy, and his unmatched, chilling voice ❤️🖤❤️

yes, but unfortunately, he does this movement with the microphone that destroys a bit his singing power.

Great band and Peter Murphy has a sense of humor!
True music with soul and depth, Peter Murphy has never sold his artistry of lyrics and his voice to the cheap mainstream ... humble, sophisticated and intelligent!
Peter Murphy is a genius and a godly singer and musician. Heavily inspired by David Bowie but has his very own style. So fascinating and brilliant.

Everybody in the post punk era was an IGGY/BOWIE worshiper
I don't see Bowie at all in his acts and the lyrics are very far from each other. Peter is and was his own
Great performance even without a stage setup. They created their own atmosphere with their music and energy. That was raw and I don't think I have ever seen that done before. I am very impressed!
Peter has a unique voice, and his gotic/post punk rock is not comparable to any other artist of it's time, the 80's.....
Sir Peter Murphy, if the HIGHEST, MOST POWERFUL WAVE on the planet had a voice, it would be YOURS.
Love you Peter, thank you for sharing your great talents ❤
One of the more fantastic voices of the World.Great Peter!
Agree that those lovely eyes are absolutely ICONIC.
It's just your voice and only your voice that has carried me through the end of the Cold war. I love You Peter. Thank You for making my childhood livable.
Pete Murphy will always be the best, spiritual depth, passion, intelligence and humour. beautiful.......
The ghostly wings fluttering between the shadows of David Bowie and Iggy Pop.
yes...a revelation of bittersweet darkness !
Just my all time favorite for ever. Seen him in concert 3 times in SF
At the 20.32 mark is what my little granddaughter of 3 years old calls "The Murphy Bird" and she does it good.....We love you Peter !!!
I get goosebumps everytime he performs. I love him!
If I had a time machine, this concert would be my first stop. Thank you Peter Murphy, the musicians and everybody involved in bringing this to me, thank you very much.
The most haunting eyes ever...

Yeah, great opening track!! I never heard that track!

I think the same thing can be said about Tony Bennett. That is why he is still going strong at 92
Fair to say that he entered his career with a smoky aged voice to begin with so there was nothing to lose?
Oh my Gosh, i´m absolutely crazy!!! So wonderfull!!!! I go into total ecstasy, I cry, I dance, I go into eternity, as my veins boil!!!!
Was there! Such an amazing set -- an epic experience.
Incredible voice and artist! We love you!

Amazing! Hadn't heard Murphy in a while and stumbled on this. Saw him in T.O., on back in the late 80's, one of the 'coolest" shows for sure!
Thousand oaks?. I saw him at the Ventura Theater in 07
I was in the front by the stage. It was Awesome!!!

Classic persona in music history.
One very good show!🎸✌️
Such a great voice.
P.S. what a kind of perfect voice!!!
This is excellent.
Perpetual likes for this gig!
Clever use of bass for Melody lines end of Strange Kind of Love/Bela Legosi's Dead medley.

I agree what you mean. To me it seemed the place and Peter's vibe a bit too intimate for that song.
Still got it and loads better than whats around today !
Love 'Subway' at 19:00 "Blind Sublime" would've been great, too.
O melhor sempre! Viva Peter Murphy!
What an amazing voice. A true talent.
Офигенно!!!

Yep. Nothing hotter than a geezer wearing a waistcoat sans shirt.
