well, it's not going very well with Amiga remakes. there's a chaos engine remake on steam that sucks, speedball 2 sucks, shadow of the beast sucks. I actually wish I had the time to make a proper remakes of these titles... I mean shadow of the beast, went from a nightmarish tornment with heart pumping atmosphere into a cheap god of war clone with beast being "to cool for school". To me, that game was about surviving against the odds in a nightmarish hell, seeking vengance on your captor. Capturing those three core aspects in an exploratory metroidvania fashion and Shadow of the Beast could be saved. For Chaos Engine it's a bit harder since top down shooters generally don't attract people anymore. :\ Any ideas? :)
Loved this game (although it was tough to beat). The visuals, sound and setting was very well put together. Arguably one of the most polished amiga releases imo.
Thanx for posting this up. Those sounds bring back so many memories of long hours of gaming into the small hours, I can almost see the points in the game indicated by the sounds and still have the original boxed game. It was all such a heady time, the games industry was growing with stratospheric rewards for the few and some superb games for the punter.
I rememeber playing this on snes! One of my fave games besides super metroid and secret of mana. Been gaming since ColecoVision first came out and haven't looked back since - especially once I transfered to pc gaming. In 2012. 48 years old and still gaming strong! They say rock and roll never dies. But same goes with gaming. Especially with Covid lock downs. I hope many folk found gaming to be the best escape.
Good music, especially the classic intro track, and BADASS looking character portraits just like Hired Guns, and the early PS1 game Loaded, and all 3 games had sick soundtracks!
One of my favorite games on Amiga 500 and this soundtrack compliments it so well. ... Oddly enough it wasn't music I was concentrating on in this somewhat hectic game. ;)
Such a great game and a great soundtrack. If anyone's interested, check out my remake of The Chaos Engine theme tune here: ruclips.net/video/pLCpi-gRsms/видео.html
This collection seems a bit piecemeal, like we are getting some parts of the tracks but not others. I understand that these tunes adapt to gameplay cues, so making an album from them is difficult, but as presented here, it's not hugely coherent.

Really? I thought the first one was "Stage is over" all this time
I still think this game could be a really good candidate for a remake, and use a slightly updated version of the intro theme. Could be a winner.
There is "remake" version available on Steam, but let's be honest - it sucks
They fucked up the remake of Speedball II. Unfortunately.

@@Taijito5 Why do you think it sucks??
@@Taijito5 They are working on a version on the C64 ;-)
The tune around 9:42 was always my favourite - such memories.
Was that the shop tune..
@@TheRealKaiProton yup!
one of the best Amiga composers #RIP

tough, yes maybe, but i remember my brother, cousin and parents watching me clearing it at the age of 9 with eyes wide open lol
Maybe a bit tough at first but you could learn all the sequences when things happened and get quite far.
I remember the words when I beat it with my brother "The Chaos has ended, you will be remembered". It took a lot of work, Navie and Gentleman team.
The Bitmap Brothers and Richard Joseph combo ... unbeatable
God's, Speedball 2 and this - awesome 👌
Speedball 2 and Speedball were AWESOME.
Magic game. Only two disk. Awesome. Poland.
What an absolute banger of a soundtrack. Of its time culturally but ahead of its time from a gaming perspective. RIP Rich, what a talent!!
when he pass?
ill have to do a rememberance cover. was planning on covering a track for deflemask!
NVM, i found out when and why, man that sucks! Lung cancer is a bitch. RIP
This game and Bitmap Brothers are a Legend.
All time classic. Still gets my blood pumping.
I didnt know an amiga could do this until this. Well done.
This game, SpeedBall2 and Gods are the games who had a killer soundtrack, idea and graphics back then.

This game was amazing one of my favourite amiga games plus the sound track was awesome
Whistles and horns at the ready! All we need is a massive abandoned warehouse and a huge sound system
It reminds me so much of early Prodigy
Brillant score, thanks for posting this. I had hours of fun playing this classic game.

Imho it's a good reflection of stuff happening in British music in early 90's. Reminds me of Utah Saints and some more things I know.
Made my day this.
best example, showing it has to convince in mono or else leave it, awesome music
Man, Pedro's suggestion was on point.
This and Superfrog best games and with the music

This and rollcage soundtrack best on planet.
Amiga had amazing tunes and composers! Barry Leitch and this fella!
when ur with ur mate and do the level 1 tune, one hits the high notes and the other deep notes, and its by mouth
damn i loved this intro :D
there seems to be a couple of audio channels out later in the video, not a proper recording.
re listening to the intro and the first samples made me cry.
amazing soundtrack
thanks mr joseph 🦾
This soundtrack had no business being this good

Fantastic game backed up by a fantastic high energy OST
For those of you who might not know, Chaos Engine is available on Steam.
Sadly it's not very good emulation. The game is hard enough without high input latency.
@@Mnnvint and the sound issues, that was the kicker for me
brilliant Game and Soundtrack
I still remember all the characters to this day after reading the review in Gamesmaster.
This ma ringtone
My chin almost hit the floor when I first heard this music on my Atari STe
I blast this while working & in the shower every chance I get 🔥
Damn goood !! .. but it is not full stereo as Amiga is used to split track/channels.

THX for that beforehand!! ;-)

I just realized: In level 2, phones were able to beam you somewhere else - many years before The Matrix!
Channels missing in level 1 music
I prefer the Soldiers of Fortune snes version, but this is pretty great.
Wasn't that the exact same game?
@@ElBloeTigre No. The music was remixed and a few other changes were made.
TUUUUUUUNE!!!!
You can make the same, with DOS version of Chaos Engine? Please :)
+Jarl Sigvald a man tried that once. He dd not survive trying to listen to the DOS Chaos Engine Soundtrack.
This mix is from multiple platforms, not original stuff. I would not bother commenting if not for respect to Richard Joseph´s legacy.
