I was born not to far from there towards the ocean… I know that area , actually most of portugal like the back of my hand. One thing that abosulety ticks me off is the annual fires…..some of which are set unfortunately. One thing that is on my bucket is skiing Serra da Estrela even thou it is tiny and the snow is hit and miss… I live in the States…..
@@ciprianoneves7246 Oh how nice! It’s a stunning area 🤩 Yes, really sad about the fires. I hope to give the skiing a try as well. Maybe even this winter season. Let’s see ❄️
Weather almost 40 degrees fahrenheit is not cold!! Are there houses for sale anywhere near Serra da Estrel? I cannot tolerate hot weather. I desperately need cold weather (snow in winter).... I would love to move to Portugal but I'm worried it's too hot there!! :( It appears unless I can get an off grid house somewhere close to Serra da Estrel or Guarda I wont be able to live in Portugal. I am not sure if there are any houses in the mountains in Serra da Estrel or Guarda for people who want to live off grid? I looked into other areas of Portugal but it's way too hot climate.
It certainly is a very individual sensation 😄 The weather is definitely on the mild side, if you compare it to Scandinavia for example. There you would find snow for sure. In Portugal, the area around Covilhã, Manteigas, Loriga might be interesting for you. Take a look at idealista.pt - there you can find many property listings. Good luck 🍀

Love this quote 🥾💚
Wonderful! Thank you for showing my country!
@AlongThePathsOfNature
Very grateful to be able to enjoy it 💚
For the Summer try "Praia Fluvial da Loriga", by Loriga, Serra da Estrela. Also don't forget to eat Ham & Cheese in Manteigas.
@@magnusmotor1364 I love the area around Loriga! Very beautiful. And the cheeses are delicious too 😋
Yes Iris..."One day" i will make this kind of hikes like you do...but not this time around(I´m 77 and week hearted)
It was a tough hike for sure, especially because of the weather 😅 Better wait for spring ☀️
