    Sir, as the red colored ppts appeared on the reaction with nickel ammonium suphate and DMG then why is to add ammonium hydroxide

    Sir what purpose we use 1:1 HCl, 1% of DMG. and what purpose we add NH4 after boiled.

      1:1 HCl is used to prevent the precipitation of Ni as Ni- Hydroxide
      DMG is used as precipitating reagent
      NH4OH to create a basic medium which ensures stabilization of the Ni-DMG precipitate
