Great video... could you do a video on how you got the sip to dial up your node as it does at the end of your video.

I'm actually looking at setting this up myself, at least until I get moved into my own place again with reliable Internet, because...yeah...portable node, and not sure what I'll do for more permanent ones. The trouble I'm running into is that either the console doesn't work (using Mac with Safari or Chrome), or else it's all graphic and I can't use it...I'm blind and use a screen reader. Not sure where to go from here.

This video is 5 years old. Do you have an updated installation using a newer AllStar version and a newer Debian version? Dave KY0L

Great video Chris. I particularly like the "not so obvious" tips based on your experimenting.
Do you know how I can add allmon ... or, better yet supermon, to the cloud image?

Why would you want to setup this node on a server ?. What would you use it for if there are no radio,s connected to it..ime puzzled by it. Thanks for any explanations which could help me get my gray matter round it.cheers.

He explained this at the beginning of the video. Since he has some repeaters that only have cellular access, those nodes cannot receive incoming ASL connections (because port forwarding is unavailable on cellular connections). So, in order for other systems to connect to his systems, he has to have a node that does allow incoming connections. So, his cellular connected machines connect to the hub. Anyone who wants to reach those connect to the hub, not direct to the cellular connected repeaters. This is one solution for someone who has a portable node, for example, or who has a whole whack of nodes that are in some sort of network.

Great video but one question, you showed an outbound connection, and you showed using the SIP, but what about an incoming network connection. Without port forwarding technically the node wouldnt accept an incoming (IN) connection. So if I from my node CLI did a "rpt cmd ( mynode#) ilink 3 (your node#) would the connection be accepted from your node without the 45xx port forwarded on the VULTR server..........or at least your VUKTR server instance running?

is there a way to get on Allstar from an app only (Zoip, Zello), without owning a personal node/server at all? (like echolink)?
