Wow! It's not often that a live cut comes even close to the studio. Great performance! They kept the spirit of the song but gave it some extra flair. Well done you, Bow Wow Wow!
WOW! What an amazing performance. It's hard to believe Annabelle had this much talent and confidence at 16 years old. btw Thursday bassist also killed it!
Some of the New Wave Punk British rockers, during the late 70s early 80s had this unique Native American, Jungle, Pirate fashion thing going on, like Bow Wow Wow and Adam Ant and others, with their Colonial Era clothing and Mohawk hair styles and face paints and even sounding that way, along with album titles like Kings Of The Wild Frontier and See Jungle and Last Of The Mohicans, ect, ect, friggin luv it and like miss it so very much it actually hurts, drifting further away every day.
This band and their bass lines plus drums 🪘 plus Annabella= a most rare a beautiful treasure. This band will definitely 💯 be forever known in the books of rock and roll history. Music history altogether. Imhpo 😅❤❤❤
I listen to Obituary, Sepultura,Slayer, Voivod,Overkill, etc but have to say these guys were always a guilty pleasure for me. I took alot of shit from friends back in the day for saying they were a decent band. These guys had skills and some serious chops and could really play.
Annabella Lwin (vocals), Matthew Ashman (guitar), Leigh Gorman (bass), and Dave Barbarossa (drums) What a fckn line up .. Leigh what an truly outstanding bassist....
Fascinating priceless footage, that thankfully some people back then had enough foresight to film, performances like this, for everyone to see and hear...
FUCKIN A I partied with these guys At ARLINGTON YX SIXFLAGS INN senior trip 1983 I’d just returned from my own tour in Europe remember ANNA lol we’re gettin lil older now damn we had a blast ONELOVE 👋👋👍👍👊👊KEEPONKEEPINON
Annabella Lwin was 17 in this video (18 in Oct). She joined Bow Wow Wow when 13 years old. ( I know 13?) But she shows her singing experience and talent now with 4-5 years experience back then. Very good bad liive! This is actually first time I heard them live...impressed.
I remember the whole 'album cover scandal'... Annabella was naked, though you couldn't actually see her privates... the fact that she was only 14 made a lot of people flip out! lol
NEW probably one best earliest tribal rock bands ever (: They probably responsible for giving birth too some grundge bands and there heavy bass and guitar sounds aswell as some thrash bands (: Spawned from the punk movement and 80s pop culture (: This band shook up the 80s in a time early on that just was ready form unique and mindblowing soooooo ahead of the curve sound (: How Kool would this band be had they started in 1990 instead of early 80s (: There sound and music would have ruled the airways and beyond (:
If it wasn't winter i would be shaving my side off my head trying to twice being 13 years old lmfao. I thought my mum was going to die, she's auburn haired and her face had turned the same colour when she saw off taken dad's favour to both sides of my head 😂 It grew out!!! Then i did these zig zags, back to confession i went 🤣 No idea why i was always grounded 😆
This takes me back. This is also a song from a popular movie of the same period called Private Lessons. You can find another gem by Rick Springfield from the same film called, American Girls.
I saw them in like 1980 or so in the Old Boston Garden opening for The Police. Pretty Funky opening act for the Police. I loved both bands either way. Who couldn’t love Annabella.
Formed by Malcolm Mclaren, the band featured a drummer whom David Bowie thought would be perfect for his global Serious Moonlight Tour in the early 80s. McLaren said no.
Took me forever to realize that this was a cover of the "Strangelove's" original 'I want Candy.' Love the energy. Killer guitar, poppin' bass, and drums. But man, they are all over the place tempo wise....
Wow! It's not often that a live cut comes even close to the studio. Great performance! They kept the spirit of the song but gave it some extra flair. Well done you, Bow Wow Wow!
I used to have a crush on the singer
That guitar riff has always fascinated me. Its so unusual and really not a simple thing to play.
What a beautiful sound coming out of that guitar. Perfect
Matthew Ashman on a fully hollow Gretsch White Falcon !! Who’d expect these sublime tones from a punk-rock band ?!?!
Absolutely brilliant playing. All three musicians fantastic and she has presence in abundance. Great band.
I hadn't realized how good the musicians were!
WOW! What an amazing performance. It's hard to believe Annabelle had this much talent and confidence at 16 years old. btw Thursday bassist also killed it!
what an INCREDIBLE bass tone and style. sounds incredibly ahead of it’s time.
Taking the Bo Didley beat to new heights, with some sharp musicianship, fine singing and dancing thrown in for good measure.
Dang. Not lip synched like most 80s TV performances And nailed it.

She's Myanmar
I’m pretty sure most of the musicians in Bow Wow Wow were in the original Adam and the Ants before Malcolm McClaren kicked Adam ant out

Savages - Vivienne Westwood
Pppfffffffffttttttttt!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂lmao
Fantastic performance! Very talented band for sure.
Even a "simple" pop song back then had skilled musicians. The guys are all killing it and Anabella was perfection.
Bass player is hybrid picking and slapping/popping. Dat jacket too. Pop in the 80s was amazing.
I listen to Obituary, Sepultura,Slayer, Voivod,Overkill, etc but have to say these guys were always a guilty pleasure for me.

All your friends have shit taste in music … be happy your the only one with any sense
He is killing with that Gretsch White Falcon !!
Then diabetes killed him at 35😢
Those Gretsch semi-hollow body guitars have such a crystal clear and rich, bright sound - in your face in the best way!
Don't know much about guitars but the sound and look of the guitar is excellent.
Great LIVE performance...so much better than todays music!
Annabella Lwin (vocals), Matthew Ashman (guitar), Leigh Gorman (bass), and Dave Barbarossa (drums)
What a fckn line up ..
Leigh what an truly outstanding bassist....
I love this, I love them, I LOVE her!
Killer live version!!
Annabella was one of my first crushes after Debbie Harry! ❤️🏴❤️🏴❤️🏴❤️🏴 (Does anybody remember Look In? Had my poster!)
Debbie has arguably aged much better than Annabella, despite being 20+ years older
gorgeous and personified what was cool in the 80s
Wow, love it! I never got to see them live, even prerecorded. YT is also good for my 90 y.o. dad, who can see all his swing bands live too.
The bass player is excellent
Happy birthday 🥳
Fascinating priceless footage, that thankfully some people back then had enough foresight to film, performances like this, for everyone to see and hear...
Damn, I can't stop watching this video. So good!
Wow that was REALLY live & REALLY fucking awesome!!
The drums baby!
Very tribal
Listen to the crap thats called music today. And then there's this. Phenominal.
I saw them live Masonic Temple Rochester NY USA. 1982 Or 83.
I love Annabella ❤️
That bass! Met these guys at Wave Waikiki back in the day! Great people!

Your math is slightly off. She was either 16 or 17 in this video, depending on when in 1983 it was filmed. She was born October 31, 1966.
nice cover..
Awesome drum beat!!
I love them since ever. So often overlooked band.
Even better than the real thing!!!!
So pretty!
Fucking unreal.i love that woman🤣🤘
Most underrated band of the 80s hands down.
You have to be kidding.
@@robjones8003 Not at all. They made so much great music in a short time.
Yeah so good they didn’t need to release a second album. They’re a one song wonder band
@@mrspeedo5837 You think they only have one album? Wow you know a lot about music!
Thats the Ant Band after Adam went solo.
she is beautiful
All great drumming insane
Saw them yesterday at Summerfest in Milwaukee and they were great!
Very cool! Frist time I've seen this video.
Something great from Malcolm's brain: Afro drums, rockabilly guitar and the beautiful teenage Annabella...
I agree but you know it is a cover song?
Love it.
Wide body guitar and that steel sound 🤘🤘🤘
Man, they were some skilled musicians.
Stolen right from Adam & The Ants, couldn't ask for better.
Not their song
@@caspacz8271 They played the hell out of it though.
Formed/produced by Malcolm McLaren.
❤
They fucking SHRED!!! Lwin crushing it on the mic.
Opening dance moves were choreographed by Elaine Benes
Ha ha. Love it!
😆😆
I knew I saw that move somewhere
Tolles Lied, bildhübsche Frau.
“Bow wow wow 4 ever!” said the Dog. What a great sound and band! We Miss you!
LOVING IT
Fantastic ....They're actually playing !!!!
Best version I ever heard no doubt
Loved 👍💕😍
man they were good!
Does it seem like 20 minutes ago this song came out?! You say nearly 40 years ago?! Haha - you're kidding!!............right?

Ants 2.0.... she's a beauty!
Wow! How good was that?!
This is really good.
GREAT!!! 🤘
They are phenomenal live! Cheers for the upload :)
ギタリストのファッションとギターがめっちゃカッコいい、これはグレッチですか?
着ているジャケットはエドワードジャケットってやつですか?
how cool were they ? Awesome
Fantastic, c30 c30 c90 go
I have a vinyl record when Annabella went solo- Fever and Warboys remix. It is out of the wrapper but it is in 100% perfect condition.
awesome

This takes me back. This is also a song from a popular movie of the same period called Private Lessons. You can find another gem by Rick Springfield from the same film called, American Girls.
What a performance, should have been massive. Anymore clips from this show?

1980... how old was she, about 10?
@@Guy_de_Loimbard She was about 13 yo then.
Do ppl still buy this record 🤔 if have a copy...
Happy Halloween 2022!🎃🎉
This is so cool!
ドラムが気持ちいい。
Sweet!!
The drummer had to be in good shape, lots of drumming pre Dave Grohl’s “Hero” drumming.
I want Candy and braved the very same hair cut in my 20s - can still get away with it now.
間違いなく名曲!!!
Most under rated band ever !
Gawd shes so energetic and effervescent...
How many times do you think she asked the drummer, to be allowed to start the drumming intro? :P

Go Anabelle.Lee💚you're my age now...
Now in 2022 , it's I want a Sugar Daddy !!!
Seems like she was a big influence on Gwen Stefani in terms of stage presence.
Rip Aaron Carter🪦💐
Better than original
HALLOWEEN
Les Claypool via Marc Maron brought me to the bass stylings of Leigh Gorman.
I named my juicy hard candy with the gushy creamy gift from the god of love Thanatos
The Original is the best version of this song.
What kind of mic is she using?
HAPPY NATIONAL SOUR CANDY DAY! AND HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY! AND HAPPY NATIONAL CAVIAR DAY!
Have you seen the movie Hop the rabbit made a remix of your song
