Thanks for another great video! I mostly collect low grade raw cards from the 50's, 60's and early 70's, also some prewar when I can afford. No graded cards yet, but not opposed to them. Started collecting in 1977, so I am building a 1977 Topps set in NM, only need about 10-11 to complete and one is the Brett, others are all commons. My first pack of cards I remember was in 1971, I was 5, but it wasn't until 1977 that I was a real collector. My card collecting has been hot and cold over the years, but what always remains constant is the love of the hobby. My favorite baseball card issues are 1. 1956, 2. 1954 & 3. 1960, my least favorite is 1969 topps. I watch tons of youtube card content, and I have come to find yours one of the very best, Thank you, Kurt A.
Thanks Kurt!! Appreciate you taking the time to watch and share. Sounds like you've got a pretty cool set. My brother has a NM complete 1977 Topps set as well, as it's the year he was born. Some great cards in that set.
Hi Graig, You have stated your case in fine fashion. There are so many lower condition bargains out there. A down market is the friend of the bargain hunter. I love the cards in this video! Much respect, Peter
Seeing what that hall of fame plaque postcard signed by Carl Hubbell sold for is mind blowing. He's the same guy who struck out 5 (future) hall of famers (Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe Cronin) consecutively in the second ever all star game. I have a couple of those signed hall of fame plaque postcards in my collection (Robin Roberts and Bobby Doerr) and didn't pay much for either of them.
It is INSANE what that Hubbell auto went for. He's been gone for 35 years and BEFORE autographs took off. There aren't a million of them out there. CRAZY that's all it cost.
I suspected these type of deals were available...but you knocked it out of the park!! What a informative video... Thanks again for spending some time at the card show...going through those stacks.. Hope all is well.. J.R. Vasquez
Another great example of some great bargains, that makes me re-think is I should continue to grade my raw cards and start looking for already graded bargains.
Hi Graig. Excellent video demonstrating how there truly are great deals out there to be had. Amazing some of the cards and prices they sold for. Thanks for the video, Stephen
Thanks so much Stephen. Glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes I think we all forget that we can get some awesome cards for reasonable prices. When people on RUclips are buying thousand dollar cards, we sometimes need to be reminded that the rest of us "normal" people can buy cool stuff, too!! :-)
Wow, only one card in a 2...and it's Willie Mays. Some really good variety too, I like the variety. Exhibits, stand-up, Post, etc. Definitely some deals out there. The 1961 Topps Whitey Ford in a PSA 5, for under $30. Interesting to see a Joe Namath on, this list as well. Namath is one of the more popular QBs -vintage. And same can be said for Johnny Unitas, too. A Willis Reed RC in a 5...under 30 dollars, and the Ron Santo in a PSA 3, are probably among several of the ones, which shouldn't be here.
Awesome video. I find it tough to participate in week long auctions due to family time constraints. Looks like all of the deals you showed were from auctions. I have gotten some pretty good deals from buy it now listings where my counteroffers were accepted. Got a 1958 Jim Bunning PSA 5 for $25. The deals are out there but they take some digging and patience.
The week long auctions are usually Thursday to Thursday, like with Goldin. So, I don't even look at them until Thursday morning. Then, they're 1 day auctions. :-)
Since you were showing some oddball cards I thought I'd ask a random question. I have a 1980 Granny Goose Rickey Henderson. Since you're in California I thought I'd ask you about Granny Goose snacks since they were a California company. Love the video
Granny Goose did a lot of potato chips out here when I was a kid. They had other snacks as well. I don't remember them having cards in them, but I do remember "Mother's Cookies" cards coming in bags of cookies as a kid.
I love looking for vintage multiplayer cards. They usually sell for a lot less than a player's individual card. So, they make for a great pick-up at a nice price! #TheHobbyist
How many of those deals did you buy. The problem with these deals is people who do comps and use last card sold for how much its worth these sales have devalued these cards. A dealer does not want someone to come up to his table and say 1966 mays was sold for 15.00 when he has a price of 75.00 on his 1966 mays. Thats why I use a average of what cards are sold at shows and shops for what cards are worth.
The point of sharing this information/video, is so people realize that there are cool cards of all time great players at all price points. We don't have to be spending hundreds of dollars to participate in card collecting.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's important to remind everyone that there are great cards and deals at all price points, and we don't have to be rich to participate in this hobby!! :-)
I had about the worst weekend possible and watching this video actually made me feel better about the day, We may ne related lol we like all of the same players, cards, rookie cup cards, lol
Sorry about the bad weekend, my friend. Hobbies are really all about making sure we have an "escape" from reality from time to time. That's one of the main reasons I'm so invested. There's a lot of "stuff" in this world I don't want to consume.
@@MidLifeCards Non sport bargain deals could probably be, in an entire video. Ryan Nolan @breakoutcards focuses mainly, on the highest graded (most) valuable ones.
Great video, really is a shame Spahn cards aren't worth much, Love the Post Cereal cards, have a Mantle, Niekro doesn't get the recognition he deserves, love the 63 Mays/Musial, and Eddie Matthews cards aren't worth much, Whitey Ford is one of the best pitcher's EVER, no recognition
Here's a question for you? Make 2 lists...first list is who are the 5 all time biggest names in baseball history( hitters only). Now make a list of the 5 best statistical hitters ever in baseball. Is there anyone that makes both lists?
AFTER SEEING WHAT YOU CAN GET FOR A 4 OR 5 GRADE YOU WONDER WHY PEOPLE PAY FOUR, FIVE AND SIX FIGURES MORE FOR THE SAME CARD. A 1981 LARRY BIRD SECOND YR CARD PSA 10 WENT FOR 2O THOUSAND AT AUCTION. I BOUGHT THE SAME CARD SCG 8.5 FOR I55.OO AT A CARD SHOW. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. THANK YOU.
I don’t disagree…but….time is money….I’ve picked up similar bargains in auctions…but I had to bid on many, many cards….to win a few….it can be rewarding but if I’m looking for specific cards, I will always jump at a fairly priced Buy It Now card….but it’s always fun to pick up a bargain….nice video as always….
For someone that is busy, I agree. But, for some of us, we like to spend extra time on our hands doing a little treasure hunting and digging for deals. But, I totally get your point.
Yes. But, I only do it with rarer cards. If it's a card that is common, like a Johnny Bench Rookie Card or a Rickey Henderson Rookie Card, they come up for sale all the time. So, I can be more picky about prices. But, if it's a rarer card, like a t206 of a player I've been hunting, and it's in a grade/condition that I have been searching for, I pay over comps rather frequently.
What this shows me is that our industry is in a major decline! And wasting the money on getting most cards graded has become a bit of a joke considering the cost versus subsequent value. And this is IF PSA grades the card properly!!! Unbelievable

My thoughts exactly. Let someone else submit, grade, and see how the graders treat them.
I know you usually do graded cards. Can you do one on raw vintage cards for under $25?
I can certainly look into doing something like that. Thanks for the idea.

Great content. Just got a 65 Drysdale BVG 5 for $12.
Drysdale is so overlooked in my opinion and I love that 65 set.
@@MidLifeCards I can’t believe how affordable the 58 and 59 drysdales are as well. The guy was dominant.
One caveat that may have been added below. The '65 isn't actually Niekro's RC. He had a 64 high number RC.
Yeah. That was an oversight. There are a couple of guys on consecutive "Rookie Cards" like that. Dale Murphy is another off the top of my head.

John Glenn Astronauts card 🔥
