Fishing the Okefenokee Swamp in Winter

  • The winter is a good time to visit the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia if you want to avoid the mosquito's, and see fewer gators. The fishing may not be the best though. Me and Brent (from the Marsh Plummer RUclips channel) got some crickets and caught some really nice bluegill. He had fished there when he was a kid. You have to have a small motor to fish there or just use your trolling motor.

    I love fishing the Okefenokee, back in the seventies I would go three times a week. Been off and on since but ready to get back out there. Trolling for Jacks was fun too. Looks like you had a great time!

    Hebard cypress company took 95% of the old growth cypress out of the swamp. King Fisher landing is another spot you can fish. The swamp is mudfish paradise. Griffis fish camp on the west side is a neat place. Old man Mr. Griffis( if he is still alive) is a walking ‘swamper ’. He knows more about the swamp than anyone.

    Hey Chris when I toured a Plantation can't remember where either Georgia or Carolina that were crocodile everywhere I don't think I want to be in there in a in a little aluminum boat. That's what my dad used in the rivers in The Lakes LOL Evinrude chartered

    Is not this place, just beautiful. We used to fish the canal, every year In march using crawfish to catch warmouth.
