For anyone having an issue with the soft reset mode in that it will work for snes games (hold the "down" button and the "select" button for a few seconds) but not for NES. I found a way to get it to work. In any NES game you have to pause the game first, then while the game is paused you can do the down button + select and it brings you right back to the games menu
So i just bought a nes classic recently and yes people, it still works, after following the step, i have been adding tons of games, especially, GBA, SEGA GENESIS, SNES, GBC, and more nes game.....so dont worry what model ur nes is.... Thank you for reading

Regarding the driver installation, rather than find another computer, run Hakchi as an administrator, or change your Windows settings to allow access to any install programs for administrators.

My hesitation to complete this mod comes from all the posters online talking about how this could brick your system. In your personal experience, how possible is it to brick the system? I want more games BUT I don't want to lose my system if something goes wrong. UPDATE: I followed your directions and everything went great, no issues at all! Thank you again for your video! Now I am going to add more game to my SNES Classic. Do you know how many games can be loaded on it?
these things are nearly impossible to brick as long as you have the original kernel backed up, you can always flash it back (this comes per the Github page)

I see the box art and everything but once I try to play any SNES game it gives me a black screen for about 10 seconds and then back to the title menu. I did all the retroarch as described. I'm assuming this is a user error and that I missed something but what? Any words of wisdom?
Might be an issue with the snes roms you are using. Make sure they are in .smc or .sfc format . And make sure you have a Retroarch snes core installed.
If I want to add more storage to the NES classic, can I use an OTG Micro USB cable with power, then sync the games to a usb flash drive, then connect drive to OTG cable? Is this the correct way to sync games with added storage?
How do you organize the multiple console games into separate folders. I can only leave the original in the root and equally add by letter or number of titles. I was hoping to learn how to do custom folders. Sega Master System, Turbo Grafx 16, PC Engine, Game Gear and Game Boy. Any help?

The powered OTG adapter i'm using is garbage as it wont find the NES. I had to plug the device in without it and that sucks because i wanted to use usb flash drive. Now i have to throw the otg in the garbage and use something else that someone had mentioned to use on another video.

WDY 84 just dump it again its ok. Just make sure your kernal is backed somewhere else on your computer before dumping again because it may overwrite it.

Can someone please help, a buddy of mine barely installed more games on my classic nes, this was a normal non hacked nes straight from Best Buy out of the box and played for hrs and hrs no issues, my buddy said let me add 300 more games on there and I said heck yea, so he ended up loading only 175 games mixed with Nes, snes, sega, and game boy advance, and we selected the games I wanted from child hood and then dumped them on my nes, the transfer was done so then I come home plug it in, this hitachi etc logo comes up as the first thing to pop up then it goes to the nes lobby and I can see all the original nes games that were from the factory, so I ignored them and went straight for the ones we did, and I get a C7 error message and I click to another and another and the same message, all day the same message except for regular nes games, “But” the original classic nes games that came from the factory, they don’t work it’s a black screen and straight back to the lobby, can you please help what is going on and how to fix this issue????
I'm hearing a lot of different things, I want to hack my nes mini but its newer re release and I've found comments where people prefer I use Hackchi 1.2.X and that the version your telling me to use wont work or will cause issues.
I'm very worried about viruses because every time I try and open hakchi it says the publisher is unknown and it asks if I'm sure I want to allow it to make changes to my computer. Can anyone guarantee that hakchi is completely virus safe please help. Another thing is when I try and open my roms a message keeps on popping up saying that I need to buy WinZip if this isnt suppose to happen then can someone link me to a set of roms that won't give me this message?
Hakchi should be fine to run on your system. You're always going to keep getting that WinZip message, as it seems you have a trail version pre installed that has expired already. This has nothing to do with any zip file. Hope this helps.

you should probably backup original kernel to a safe place then start over. There is a couple different kernel variances out there so you want to keep them separated.

When I went through process again it wont connect to computer after holding reset and pressing power. When I turn it on it's still good. Just wont connect to show green button in hackchi app, nor does light on nes come on. Any ideas what to do?
There's a lot of different things that could be going on but one trick you could do is try installing an extra module. For instanse in the retroarch download there's all kinds of extra modules you can install. so say you install Stella after installing the green light should turn back on. But you might have to do this every single time you want to add games. I think the firmware has changed on some of the newer NES's that they're selling. There's a newer version of hakchi out "ce" but it gives a lot of other issues that are a pain to deal with.
Is it bad that I forgot to save the dump file before syncing the new games? Also, the only problem is now, it's damn near impossible to find any ROMs on non-dodgy sites. Or even on dodgy sites. I had a few ROMs on my computer already but now, it seems getting more is out of the question.
Torrents are still an option as well as just google certain games or rom sites. Better that everyone does it so at least someone will have the roms to share before nintendo goes even more overboard with this bullshit.

Pretty much everything is the same way just select snes mini when using hakchi instead. You can change console type under settings tab.

Nicholas Yiatrusis arcade roms vary so you will have to experiment with different ones FBA plays newer arcade roms well.
after doing these steps when i press reset for 5 sec and try to get the power on it wont come on did i do something wrong
some newer consoles are causing issues try re dumping kernel to get red light on.

Use Zadig to install a generic usb driver first, worked for me

Probably something wrong with the roms/format try some different roms out.
8 Bit Flashback yeah I had like 2600 roms from all different continents and stuff. So I added just USA roms and it worked.

Tasha Bacon sometimes it does affect game saves but its not consistent though sometimes the saves remain.
