- So after the release of the controversial finale Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, the creators bravely stepped up to a QnA where it was revealed a pitch had been made to Dreamworks to continue the series, off the end of the film, wrapping up the story in 8 shorts, with 2 releasing each year. Nothing has been confirmed, but today we talk about how the shorts might just save the ending, or potentially ruin the story forever.

@@sana4359 I love Dragon Prince, I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one, but this is Netflix we are talking about. I have to say, the Dreamworks production values are great, but sometimes the writing does let it down big style. I wish they'd just finish on a high, it wouldn't matter if there are some loose ends, just as long as they don't subvert expectations.

I love the visuals so much in that series but it bugs me so much on so many levels in terms of the story and the rest of the characters. There is more I'd like to write, but there is a text limit to comments. Lucifer is a series I haven't watched. I like the actor who plays Lucifer, he's a fellow Brit who has been good in a number of things prior, but no, I've not delved into it yet. I hope for your sake they stick the landing on the ending. Fingers crossed. For Lost in Space, kill all the crew except for Penny and the Major. Then we'll be good.
Even if trollhunters returns with Toby being the leader, it would be really boring to see gunmar and morgana again after they have been villians for two shows.

@mahan toosi because gunmar, morgan lafey and other villains won't be changed based on who is the trollhunter because they are the trollhunter's origin story. you can finish their part of the story faster and bring new villains to the story but you can't remove them from the story
Maybe they will be defeated easily, which would lead to new villains, or side villains who will get bigger roles rather than Gunmar or Morgana

I would personally rather see the old timeline that Jim abandoned. yeah that's right, abandoned. I don't wanna see everything all over again with Toby and Jim switching places. I want to see the aftermath of the battle with the titans, I want to see characters coming to terms with the fact that their friends, family and fiance's are dead and Jim no longer exists in a way that's relevant to their universe, and most importantly those Akiridion septuplets

The problem is ,that in the way they have stated time travel to work ,it seems like that timeline doesn't exist anymore , not just co exist with the alternate one

@@miltoska9708 That’s not how time travel can work, just because one person goes back in time that doesn’t mean a timeline is destroyed. Think of it as the conservation of mass and energy applied to time, it can only change forms and when the gang time traveled in wizards they only ended up creating their timeline. It has already been shown that time travel doesn’t work like that in universe and it conceptually cannot work like that, the closest you can get is losing access to a timeline.
Yes on preserving Jim and Blinky’s relationship! Their father son relationship was one of my favorite things about Trollhunters and the possibility that it won’t happen in this alternate timeline upsets me so much more than the ending itself.

I choose to believe in the new time line Jim choose Tobi to be the Troll hunter And they will both be made amulets at some point as Jim choose Tobi because he wouldn't be there without him and so giving the series a second chance at life and new series timelines and events as well as there being a ton of foreshadowing and changes to how things happen and new characters as tobi will go a slightly different route but not completely off the original

Also why TF does everyone think Jim is going to do the same thing he did in Unbecoming? C'mon people, Jim is not dumb. He's not just gonna have Toby be the Trollhunter and let him deal with all the problems. Do you really think Jim would do that? I personally don't think so.
I honestly feel like Jim's gonna try to help Toby, but Toby's gonna fail. Then Jim will have to try another timeline, and another, and maybe eventually ask Douxi and/or Merlin to help him. He says it himself that he'll deal with the responsibilities, and maybe he'll come to terms with the fact that the ending he got may have been the best one for them, or who knows? Maybe he'll find an ending close enough to the one he wants.
for the past month or so i just been entirely ignoring that the ending existed, but this are actually good ideas, honestly i would really really love if they do something like this to redeem the franchise

Honestly a wizards season 2 would be great since I felt like douxie needed a lot more buildup and development plus it gives them time. Also honestly I don’t want to continue because honestly the ending literally ruins the franchise. Especially since the series confirms that Jim needed to be the trollhunters and I don’t see why tobey would get chosen instead.

What’s annoying is that Trollhunters has proven that they are not afraid to kill off beloved characters like Drall, so the ending of this movie just makes it feel like the people in charge were to scared to have character die
As much as I love Toby, I 100% agree. They’ve proved several times that killing off a character isn’t a problem. They even did it in the movie with Walt
I love Toby, but was it really sacrificing everyone except for Jim just for him, if I was in charge of the tales of Arcadia series, I would had treated Toby like Iron Man in Avengers Endgame, the characters would move on, and the series would end like this, or they could have done Wizards season 2.
i will say that drall did quote die from creepersun, which could be cured. but i think them breaking after turning to stone is a solid death and no coming back but you had morgana bring angorot back but maybe she had a piece of his essence so is to how she brought him back.
The thing I hate the most about the "go back in time" thing, is in the entire seasons of Wizards, we get that "be careful when you go back in time because you can never predict how things will turn out" modo & we're made to believe that Douxie is just gonna be like "yeah! Jim! Go back, do it all over again!"???? NO WAAYYY.
Also there was a episode of Jim wishing he wasn't the trollhunter and went back in time too so the ending to rott was bad choice given the warnings before
That’s true, but the only reason the future ended up that way was because he went back into the past.

I personally thought the movie was solid but once the time travel happened at the end, it really put a sour taste in my mouth. And it’s too bad, because I genuinely liked the movie up until that point

I didn’t. I personally thought that the movie entirely put a bad taste in my mouth and soured the troll hunters franchise in general. Also I feel like douxie should have been showcased a lot more than he was. The simple fact that the good wizards and witches hadn’t had any significant parts in the movie made me want to punch someone. And when Nari died I was like WHY.

What most people seem to forget is that we have presedent for this happening! In 3below there was a timetravel episode and Blinky himself stated that Fate will arive at certain conclusions no matter what! the path they take will be diferent but they will be as they once were again! The old timeline isn't erased just delayed! (sorry for bad english)
I would like the ending if later Jim starts to regret his decisions and realises that he can't escape his destiny and he must become the trollhunter and go back to his timeline

I just imagined it like how in a fire moment the Amulet Re-chooses Jim and reveals Jim's Original amulet (The one powered by the Chrono stones(?)) And just show off a completely different armor and sword also re-unlocking all amulet function along with a few time based ones... Pretty cracked now that I wrote it down

I get that she's a Queen know, but I think she treated Jim horribly, especially based off their natural dynamic in Trollhunters and 3Below. there was a brief redemption arc in the last episode of troll hunters where angor rott became a good guy. maybe they could experiment with that. maybe giving angor his souls back rather than destroying it and he might become a fan favourite character.

honestly. it would be nice if they tried to redeem themselves. my theory is when nari said, “krohnisfere will make right” she meant as in you can see things before it happens. just like how Claire saw blinky was about to die getting crushed by a huge Boulder but saved him. so I think nari meant you can use the krohnisfere to see the future and prevent rather then going back in time and erasing everything. so maybe there might be some consequence or troubles for going back in time, like as we all seen in wizards. given Jim’s knowledge of the future he has to be careful, because like Merlin said, “there is no fixing anything. every change has a consequence, knowing the future is a responsibility to bear with caution. lest you cause worse things to happen.” like Jim trying to rehabilitate strickler, if strickler is a good guy, he never finds angor, Claire doesn’t get her shadow staff and who knows Claire could get caught up again, but possibly get killed because she has nothing to defend herself with. in this case Bular is alive again, and could be more craftier than he was last time, and who knows Gunmar could still get out, but possibly quicker. so many things are possible tbh.
Bular would have turned Toby into a large mass of sticky goo under his foot. End of series.
The franchise feels kinda dead to me because Jim basically lost his MC title, throwing everything he had learned in the trash and making him go back to him never accepting that he could be a hero. It would be interesting if they turned both Toby and Jim into heroes, with Toby maintaining the amulet while Jim claimed Excalibur or some other magical weapon that could give him magical powers again, maybe the way to go is with two chosen ones instead of just one (I'm referring to the whole troll hunter title btw)

Many fans other discussion miss the part were Naari gave us a big hint for the future of the Trollhunters. "Time can branch off in different directions." Toro isn't going to do this without merit, there has to be something more to this.

The worst thing about rott ending is that Jim's accomplishment are erased. He was the first human trollhunter (and the strongest Imo), he killed Bular, Gunmar, Angor Rot, Bellroc etc, he did so much and no one will remember....
He does though, if he is so great then why dismiss him so easily? isn't that the irony of being a hero? what makes a hero is it the action or the public acknowledgment of the action? I think it is the action (especially if the hero chose this for themselves from narretative perspective).

Bro I’m extremely PISSED that Jim was whining throughout the whole movie when he already had his character development arc. I feel lost during some parts of the movie and it also felt like everything was so rushed. Can we also talk about the fact that Jim didn’t turn into half troll again? If was extremely disappointing.
IKR!?!? I wish he could've turned back into a troll again, or at least STAYED one. Its EXTREMELY disappointing that he lost ALL of his character development, about getting used to being a troll and all the hardaches he had to go through to become the person they need him to be!

I kind of wish that they had just repaired the amulet as it was right at the start, and we wouldn't have to go the entire movie with Jim doubting his chosen one-ness. I mean, Douxie literally just made the original amulet with Merlin in Wizards, I'm sure he remembers how to make it. And Morgana's dead body is right there. Just hack off her other hand to make fix the amulet. The pieces were literally all there, right at their feet!
I had been saying that RotT would have worked *so much better* as it's own 10-26 episode show ever since the movie came out! I have no idea why they opted for a movie or approved that horrible sctipt!!!

To be completely honest i'd totally rather see this great franchise end trying to redeem itself with a new series where everybody's memories are restored than buried under it's greatest failure, there should be a way to fix this ending as if the timeshift never happened it's just a question of whether or not the team behind the franchise and dreamworks have the vision to move forward and i know i do
Someone else commented that maybe Jim finds deeply regrets his decisions and the new series is him working towards getting back to his original timeline.
Maybe he sees things are worse like the "its a wonderful life" episode.

i think jim still has his medallion..but it has become more of a part of him, and the new time line he told toby to fetch it this time so toby could be a hunter as well.

I got a little theory that there is more to the 9th configuration. In that the other trollhunters get a shot at the amulet until it circles back to Jim on the 9th go with everybody's memories in tact to lessen the cost of victory. That way they can save everybody on earth and in space, and probably have more allies like a good guy Morgana and Angor. Plus in defense of the ending Toby will probably do a good job as wielder. He was always ready to do hero stuff despite how scary it was and supported Jim no matter what.

I think they should make either another or two more movies creating a 2 or 3 part story preferably based around the multiverse and either introduce a new final villain based around the concept of time or use time travel and the multiverse as a way to bring together the big bads of each series such as Gunmar, Morando, and the Arcane Order, while also bringing back the surviving cast of heroes from the main timeline. In order to help Jim on one last adventure to at least give the series a satisfying conclusion.
Recruiting Douxie ASAP is also one of the things I’d want for the new timeline. I’m still trying to figure out what weapon(s) the New Timeline Jim should be sporting.

Yes, the amulet choose Toby because he was worthy. But being worthy and being a good Trollhunter are two different things.

Meh, Eli would probably be worthy too, but Jim is still the "chosen one" of the Trollhunters, the one the Merlin truly chose for a reason. Without him as the Trollhunter the world is screwed.
Jim pushed Toby to become the Trollhunter, as he did the same with Draal in "Unbecoming".
In Unbecoming Jim pushed Draal to become the Trollhunter and then saw what would happen. He should have learned his lesson and not push Toby.
I think that there might be two Trollhunters. Toby has the original Amulet while Jim has the rebuilt amulet from the original timeline. Jim could also convince some of his adversaries from the original timeline to be on his side in the new timeline like Strickler, Nomura and Angor Rot for example . Besides if Jim gives Angor Rot his soul back, he can teach Claire how to make Shadow Magic. I’m not sure how Steve and Eli would get involved though. But, as for Aja, Krel and the rest of House Tarron, well they could be called by Vendel and Draal to help them. As for Douxie, the team should awake Merlin before visiting Douxie. When Jim convinces Merlin about the upcoming encounters with the Arcane Order, they could run into Douxie’s store and warn him about the Arcane Order
I agree but they Jim and the others can show Steve and Eli Troll market and I am thinking though if they talk to all of the other villains and from trollhunters and get help from angor, maybe even Morgana. We have seen him change strikler’s thoughts of a human trollhunter back in season 2

I think Jim still has the green amulet. Its quite possible because the amulet not only used one of the Excalibur stones, also it has the literal time stone, meaning it can't be effected by time. I think guiermo del toro is planning and endgame level event.
Hearing that they were gonna make another season pisses me off. They could've done so much with all the different characters and utilized everyone in their own unique ways and so we can sit on character deaths and therefore have more emotional impact

In the movie I was waiting for Claires baby troll brother because he had so much character development and he didnt show up. And where the hell are the 100 babies he brought back. You cant tell me they all got adopted. And if those babies are in the real world. What happened to their changeling counterparts.
They left a huge plot point just open.
Another comment gave me this idea: what if, everyone finds out that Jim pretty much killed them in another timeline to save Toby and they start to hate Jim and Toby for it. Aja and Steve would be mad because of their children that cease to exist and Merlin would be mad because he is messing with time. Perhaps even Toby does not like Jim’s decisions. Eventually they will probably come around though.
Thing is that all Jim’s friend _agreed_ to him resetting the timeline…

It's like they were scared of killing off characters in a cartoon, which is sad, because the resulting loss would have meant so much more and created a really cool future.
Honestly, I would love to have seen the final result stand and and additional episodes, movies, etc. dealing with that loss as well as some more focus on the 3below characters and their intergalactic struggles (possibly culminating in attacking Earth and using the help of the magical beings to stop them). Could have been pretty epic...
I think they should do a continuation of the show after the movie where Jim after letting Toby have the amulet is seeing that over time it was a big mistake and that the people he loves and things around them are being more affected by his choice and that he needs to try and fix it before it's too late either by telling Clair and Toby what happend in his time-line and trying to make it right again with even them possibly meeting up with the others from the differents series like 3 Below and Wizards tales of Arcadia and most likely even Steve and Eli. Just bringing the whole gang back together.
Jim should still be the troll hunter without the amulet. ( The whole question of the movie). It has been shown to fly to him like Thor’s hammer so I see no reason why it would send him back in time and not follow. The time stone could be lost in the process but it should’ve gone with him.
I’m about 80% sure he has the remastered Amulet with him.
Honestly best case scenario for me would be that the second amulet still exists and jim still has it [the one that has Arkaridian tech and merlinian magic in it from the movie, that nice cobalt shine is too good to let go of] if that would be the case... I would be alright with Toby having the original amulet. Somehow the New Second Amulet found its way into the new timeline connecting 3 below and wizards prematurely causing who knows what could happen. like 3below would be like 'why are our scanners picking up arkiridian tech over there??? we have never been here before'.
Or even leave traces of the previous timeline. like the reset was not perfect, they already kind of did it in the movie with jim waking up at a different time and the play taking place on a different day. could be fun chaos theory

This timeline isn’t an overwrite it’s a different one altogether. Time unfolds like a flower, this is a different petal which Jim can influence with his knowledge. He can get the ball rolling on on so many character redemptions early, find Merlin and the staff of Avalon early, redeem Steve early, redeem strictler and nomura sooner, disclose that Morgana was imprisoned beneath the hearthstone all along, find the bridge after it’s moved, give Toby the exact location of the Darklands nursery, redeem angorrot sooner, collect the creepers sun poison antidote ingredients early, prevent Draal’s death, and possibly redeem Morgana early by telling her the arcane order revived Arthur as the Green knight after her failure centuries ago. Also no incident like too many Jim’s because he’d inform about what the stone of Madrax the many actually does. He can out queen usurna immediately for conspiring with the enemy and giving whelps to the gumngumns to indoctrinate including AAARRRGH her own son.

How about at some point, Jim has to go back to the old timeline and they do a mashup where he and Toby defeat all evil together as two trollhunters and somehow the timelines merge and everything is back except everyone of the team survives...?
That is a really cool idea! For all the time travel plots we've seen in various shows, I don't recall ever seeing one where two timelines merge to make an arguably better 'super timeline' before. It's such a unique take on time travel. I'd definitely love to see this. Especially if everyone had their memories of both timelines!

I really like and agree 100% with all of your ideas to how the shorts should be handled. I think (and really wish) that the writers and creators and everyone just takes a long scroll through the fandom to fish for ideas bc we are the ones that interact the most with the content, after all. During that speech, Claire looked as if she recognized it. Would that mean she partially knows the time has been reset to the beginning?
And at the end of the movie they showed a clip of Archie and Douxie in the shop, keep in mind that Douxie is a Wizard. Wizards know when the time has been changed.
It could be that Douxie may go back to Merlin to ask him to check the timeline. The two will go to Jim to ask him if he changed something to the time.
AAARRRGGHH might also know the time was changed, because the troll is the key to the trollhunter. Which means AAARRRGGHH has a connection to the trollhunter.
that is the best theory ive seen so far and it makes far more sense than all the other ones, i agree with you that claire had defined recognized the same phrase. in my theory, jim and toby will head to trollmarket and the voices of the spirits of the trollhunters will bring jim to the place where they train and he will be able to access it.

And maybe one of the top lines of the list is getting the Creep Slayers together so Eli can help getting stuff done because he's already very much into connecting stuff together with his big pinboard.
They just have to watch out not telling Steve too much because he probably can't handle spoilers.
And I would like to see getting Nana and Varvaatos Vex getting together a little sooner so Toby can have more parental guidance. I think Nana was kinda neglectful at times.

I would love to see if they manage to redeem it like I saw a theory that jim just reset time so the memory could come back in déjà vu but I don't think that will work but it would be interesting.

I was on vacation when the movie came out and I watched it in the middle of the night, so I was just kinda crying because of disappointment and sadness at the needless death of some of my favorite minor characters
I would honestly be ok if they did a copout of that ending. Jim has timetraveled and given up the amulet before, idk why they tried it again.

The main thing I’d like to see in a short is Jim is surrounded by a ball of light he lowers to the ground and smiles. Only his memories traveled back but Jim could feel it, he knows he just created a new timeline.

It might be handy to remember that the amulet that Jim had at the end of the movie was not his original amulet (aka THE Trollhunter amulet created by Merlin). Which means, if done properly both Toby AND Jim could be Trollhunters. At least, this is how I like to think it happens in my head.
3Below was supposed to be 3 seasons, wizards was supposed to be 3 seasons. you have no idea how much they rushed the show after trollhunters ended. I guess someone in Netflix wants this show canceled and can't just do that.
With that ending i believe a part 2 to the movie is needed .Jim should learn that he made a mistake going back in time try to get the medal back and then going back were he left when the timeline changed but something appears like a timeline protector and tries to not let Jim return to where the new timeline extisted because he would die something like that i bleieve is needed

We've watched Jim grow into his role, finding unique ways to solve problems, make friends amongst enemies (Strickler/Nomura) and then.. this ending. wow. How to ruin a brilliant show in ... how long was it? Five minutes?

I think the best way to move forward would be for something to happen that would force Jim to restore the old timeline. Have him Jim use the knowledge of the future to create timeline where all the characters that have died are now alive but due to mystical shenanigans he is forced to admit what he did. This leads to everyone teaming up to save this new timeline since no one wants to see the people they love die. However, things go wrong and Jim has to restore the original timeline with the only positives being he keeps the amulet, Excalibur, and is able to go back to when the Titan's movie started. This lets him beat the bad guys during the train fight and so prevent the events and deaths of the movie from happening.
The only catch is that Jim isn't the only one who remembers the altered timeline. We saw during 3Below that Aja was able to remember the time loop she was in due to tech so she also remembers and is not happy. She wants the timeline where her parents are still alive and doesn't like how Jim saved Toby but let her kids be erased from the timeline. This leads to a split among the heroes and sets up a Civil War style fight where Aja and her group work to restore the altered timeline and Jim and his faction have to stop her.

I think if they make a new series it should focus on the conflicts of if this was really worth it. Jim questioning himself might be really good, who knows maybe that line merlin said about Jim being taller may have meant something when they first met.
I think really driving in parallels between Atlas and Jim would be cool.
I think if we get a spinoff like Tobyhunters or something I'd be interested how toby as trollhunter would end. Would it end with bular? Janus Order? Gunmar? Who knows.
It would end in two episodes, with Draal killing Toby. There is no possible way that he could have survived that fight with only two days of training like Jim did. Did you see how unfit he was in the first episode?

If we were to give him best scenario. He somehow survived draal, bular gunmar, Angor Rot, morgana and survived 3below and wizards. In rise of the titans either jim will be the one to die. Then toby goes back in time hands jim the amulet. Then some time loop where it switches from jim then toby cause they both die in rise of titans. That is if the movie with toby being the trollhunter would play almost the same
Toby was always the sidekick character and him being the main hero character feels wierd. Am interested if a spinoff is made how all this will end since every possibility can be canon and not canon

When Jim arrived in the past, he was waking up from his bed rather than fall through a portal as was the case when they visited Camelot.
Jim's instance of time travel is the mental type rather than physical where only his mind and memories was sent back in time.

i think your idea is great! i mean, i personally liked the ending of rise of the titans but maybe that just because i enjoyed the nostalgic end and i care too much about Toby to leave him dead. however, your ideas with the shorts would be great, the only problem is that if they quickly defeat Morgana, there would be no need for the human trollhunter to become a half troll so that whole "Jim forgetting to tell Toby about it", while interesting, would never have happened.
I hate this ending, Steve actually was having huge character development rather than just being a bully, as well as having new kids JUST being born but just restarted. Blinky was becoming a father figure to Jim (Besides Strickler). Krel and Aja were just about to have happy lives on Earth. Jim finally got his amulet back and now that just bit the dust. Duxie became a master wizard. I wish they would just revive Toby and just call that an ending and accept the other deaths
Remember when in one of the episodes Jim had a day that he wasn't the Trollhunter and Draal became the Trollhunter and it all went to bad! And he had to realise that he had to carry the burden. Why the hell would Toby be any better?! That was my question when I saw it. Your idea is truly wonderful! Yess I miss Vendel and Especially Draal!
I loved the movie itself, but the ending with Time Travel was not necessary.
No matter how good Jim's intentions are, Time Travel ALWAYS leads to devastating consequences. Sure he may have saved Toby's life, but what if someone else has to die in his place? What if Claire dies instead of Toby?
I love Toby as a character, but I feel that his sacrifice, and all the sacrifices Draal, Vendel, Nomura, Nari, and Walter Strickler made to help Jim save the entire Earth were now in vain thanks to Jim time travelling back to the very beginning!
It should've ended with Jim and all his loved ones in Arcadia mourning over the loss of Toby at his funeral. A funeral fit for a soldier, with the bagpipes playing and rifles firing in the air. And a statue of Toby on the Bridge of Arcadia. It would've been sad and beautiful at the same time.
Then there would've been an Epilogue where Jim and Claire have a baby a decade later, a son named Tobias Walter Nunez-Lake.
Instead, we got fucking Time Travel. It may not be so bad NOW, but that doesn't mean that there will be no consequences LATER!
And I thought Jim had learned his lesson about changing the past, the hard way after that one dark Trollhunters episode called Unbecoming.

I think the best case scenario, is that despite the time travel. Somehow, Jim still has the new amulet from the movie and it somehow stayed with him (we just didn't see that), so he let's Toby take the original. Then there'd be two trollhunters; thus throwing a wrench in the original plot. Would cause Vendel and everyone else to seek answers.
And, maybe it would cause a whole new set of problems. If they'd continue that'd be something I could at least swallow.
Claire should still world the shadow magic. She's too good not to. They could maybe even develop Steve and Eli quicker. Heck, premtively stop Gunmar. Which, doing so may somehow release and even more powerful foe....who knows.

season 1 build up the characters
(show the world building how they fall into place the people they know show us the world that they fall into or at least get the ball rolling)
season 2 start putting mystery in and start raising the stakes
(it dose not have to be game of thrones but instead of just zooming past it all we can linger and let it set in it is called suspense)
season 3 NOW GO FULL THROTTLE TO THE END
(with season 1 and 2 giving us more info on whats going on and more attachments to the characters the ending would be more enjoyable
but that is just me... i do love the tale of arcadia series but it just painful to see it being mishandled the way it did

1. Jim becomes the trollhunter
2. Do the Romeo and Juliet Play to get Clare
3. Wait for blinky and Arggh and tell them that he knows what he’s doing bla bla
4. Save Clares Brother for being in darklands
5. Make strickler be with his mother
6. Destroy the bridge
And boom no angor rot no Gunmar no morgana and yeah no idea what to say about the 3below characters and wizards but yeah that’s what think they should done for the ending
no magic girlfriend, no enhancement stones to power up the amulet. no training his body that's reverted back to it's old form... yup, just a weak and pathetic kid with no powers when the aliens invade and fucking kill everone.

If they just want to restart first encounter for entire arcadia thing, Jim is Doctor Strange of this show. Multiverse must be intreduced. If not getting sad ending is enough, Jim would've greaved and started to rebuild city, keeping memory of fallen friends. This would make new part more immersive with real life stuff.
I can't just restart hamsters lives, do I? Things have to be moving on, that's how world works.
Adding OC's into fanfics about it could be nice idea for a book. No time erasing, just sad tone with fixing city.
What I would want is a new franchise where Jim guides Toby with the amulets and then finding his own new powers or maybe his amulet from his own timeline appears but that’s just my personal opinion
I like your idea on how they could make another season of Troll Hunter. Showing how Jim could help lead the others into a better future were hopefully no one dies.
But I do however have this big nagging issue with the whole “go back in time” thing. The amulet chose Jim for a reason. They bring this up several times in the Troll Hunter seasons were Jim tries to get rid of the amulet or questions its decision.
If the amulet does indeed choose Toby now, couldn’t it also have chosen Claire? Both of these two are worthy knights/hero’s in my opinion. Meaning that the amulet could have gone to either of them earlier in the series when Jim was at a low point and tried to get rid of it. BUT IT DIDN’T.
So now I’m left with the question on if the amulet just stays loyal to the first good person that picks it up? Or does it choose someone “special” which in that case like you mentioned, it might just go right back to Jim.
This two could lead to an interesting story. Were Jim is chosen again and has to do thing over, but now has to explain his future knowledge to others and convince them not to go down the wrong path. Thus leading into the possibility of new villains , romances and friends .
I personally would love to see Jim reveal to Strickler that he knows he’s a changeling and should eventually tell his mom the truth on how he looks.
Imma be honest, Toby would be a terrible leader. He’s too clumsy and he doesn’t have the same level of critical thinking that Jim has. He works best as a support character or a communicator with his optimism, productivity and loyalty.
There is a strong chance that Jim will almost immediately be reunited with the amulet seeing as he was merlins chosen one. We saw a timeline where Jim didn't become the Trollhunter and it resulted in the early release of Gunmar and the destruction of Arcadia. With that logic, it is possible that Jim will realize his mistake and find a way to reprise his role as the Trollhunter. Another possibility is that Jim will find a way to create the amulet from "Rise of the Titans" early so that he and toby fight side by side as Trollhunters
@Asmodeus Guy The thing with time travel is that when you change the past the original timeline isn't deleted a new one is created so the beginning piece could have been blinky from the timeline that Jim abandoned
The thing that's bugging me is.. Jim has proven time and time again that he was worthy of carrying the title of the trollhunter. But in this new timeline, the amulet chose Toby because he was walking past it. WTH? Its almost as if the amulet would choose anyone, even Steve as long as they were near enough to hear it call them.
In my opinion, I liked the ending for Rise of Titans. Now now now, put down your guns and pitchforks and such. Here me out. When I watched Trollhunters for the first time, I always notice how Jim was so dependant on characters such as Tobey, Blinkey and Aaaaaargh. So much that it seemed that he was always taking advantage of them, especially when he had his major outbursts. I even began thinking and hoping that Tobey would be the Trollhunter, since he was more strategic, fun and interesting than Jim. And with Tobey being my favorite character, I cried so much during his death scene. And then they did a 180 and not only brought him back to life, but also made him the Trollhunter. It made me so stunned, shocked and happy. This ending was not only amazing to watch, but also allows for a new direction to take with the series. Such as a season that switches back from the universe where Tobey's the Trollhunter, and when Jim is the Trollhunter, allowing us to not only learn more about time travel, but learn how Jim's actions affect both universes. Maybe eventually having them form into one universe where none of the good guys die but they all keep their memories of both timelines.

In my opinion Toby becoming the troll hunter literally dooms the world.
Stricler dosnt just have feelings for Barbra straight away. It's a. Slow fall for him. Part of it initially is to get to Jim. And from where I see is also to manipulate Barbra into stopping Jim at times by well. Being a parent. He himself admits that he didn't feel romantic feelings for her at first but as time went on he began genuinely feeling for her. Without him as the troll hunter strickler will have no real reason to see barbra therefor giving his feelings no way to develop. Are they going to make strickler flirt and develop feelings for tobies legally blind grandmother?
This also gives Jim a big dilemma. With blinky spending more time with tobie I wouldn't be suprised if Jim comes to see this timelines strickler as a father figure. Hes aware that Stricler is capable of change but also knows strickler has no reason to change. Nore does Toby have any real emotional connection to strickler to strive for that change
Not only that but while Jim to me seems to hold to his human morals more than the troll morals I don't see Toby being same. He tends to follow the rules and when he dosnt it's normally to get out of something. The complete opposite to Jim. For example Toby was considering to finish the fight when it came to chompsky in the og timeline while Jim already had no desire to kill him. This difference in moral with Toby listening to his elders while Jim listens tk his heart will likely cause conflict between them. While Toby would want to listen to troll law Jim will want Toby to listen to heart and his own moral code.
Not to mention Jim is throwing all his trauma on toby. Toby has been shown in the first season not to be half as brave as Jim and yet hell be going up against people hell bent on his demise.
Jim and clair bond after her brothers kidnapped and taken to the darklands. Before that they just friends and the play is nothing more than a school project. So is Jim going to just going to let Enrique get taken just to get closer to clair? And what éclairs just going to be okay with Jim letting it happen. Trollhunter Jim is integral to their bond strengthening. Without it clair has 0 reason to notice him
Jim and blinky would no longer have the father and son bond they gain in the of timeline. Blinky would now share that bond with Toby. Like I said previously the father figure hole for Jim in this timeline can be filled by strickler but this will likely end in conflict.
Unless Toby has some training montage and loses some weight he's gonna have a hard time. And he likely won't have a love interest. While Jim is super focused on being the Trollhunter Tony's the one who while supporting Jim focuses on their rep at school. While Jim already had a thing for clair and other than Steve and his two friends bullying Jim and Toby Jim seems well respect by other students meanwhile Toby seems to be an undesirable uo until the the prom. As the Trollhunter Toby would have 0 time to fantasises over an anonymous person in a mole costume. He wouldn't find out about the moles identity being darci due to his Trollhunter priorities. So unless he does get a training montage gets in shape and darci takes a liking to him or he feels confident enough to pursue darci and darci alone. Then hell have 0 romance.
Now the dark lands part is also pretty much screwed.
Firstly. Jim can't even make a faithful promise to get Enrique back. He bearly had a say before now he has none. What does Toby get out of it? Nothing. Clair ain't his romantic interest. The troll council and vendel would be well against it. Toby would likely say. Sorry but there's nothing I can do. And even if Jim wanted to do it himself. The amulet is now Tobys. He can't do a thing.
Jim can probly out usurna as a spy for gunmar. But all that will do is dispose of killahead bridge I definently. Gunmar would never be unleashed and Enrique as well as all the stolen babies would likely be in the dark lands until the Gunmar and dictatious get hungry. Oh. And blinky never learns of his brothers survival and dosnt blind him perminently.
The changlings HQ is taken down by the Trollhunter earlier on thanks to Jim's past timeline knowlage.
But at the end of the day all this is just fairytale
Cause there's no way in hell tony survives his first encounter with bular. And if he somehow dies. Hell die to their first true battle or he'll die to angor rot
3below still happens. Possibly with Toby dead and Jim as the Trollhunter once more. The only difference? Jims aware of their true identity from the get go and would likely take Tony's role aiding them. Even being more integrated into the story. Steve and elai still learn about the trolls and also about akiridians. The romance with Steve and aka still happens. Elai still leaves with aja and krel still stays on earth
Wizards still happens. Steve, douxi and clair still time travel and Morgana is still redeemed. Which that in itself should call into question the movie.
Morgana find peace. And leaves eveeyrhing to douxi. This means that the battle of killahead bridge should of never ended up happening. Morgana should never of gotten sealed away by merlin. Angor rot wouldn't of lost his soul and became inslaved. Gunmar would of gave up on his quest for the eternal night. Of not that'd make gunmar mor eof a psychopathic antagonist than just a cold hearted one. The changelings would still be discriminated against and never redeemed thanks to Jim. The amulet wouldn't need someone who can sympathise with Trollhunter and humor more would the human compassion and supeenature properties of a troll be required for the next Trollhunter so Jim would never be chosen.
So either the time travel was all for nothing and only makes Toby die sooner. Or the movie and Trollhunters itself should no longer exist because erhe threat of Morgana is integral for the creation of someone who is in merlin own words. Not quite human and not quite troll either.
It's just so unbelievable that at the end they all just go back in time and start all over again. All their lovely memeroies erased.
I realy think Steve should become the owner of exacaliber and maybe become the main character of a new series and they could name it Knight: Tales of Arcadia.

Fresh off finishing the whole series, and my thoughts are if magic is involved - then there are no mistakes but unexpected possibilities!
Jim Lake Jr now has the burden that Merlin had. If GDT wants to make more money, they will make more content. Im gonna buy whatever they keep making, and Im further going to contribute to the efforts. For me, that means creating content that ties Trollhunters into existing culture and gaming.
As for what could be, Id love to see the shorts or other universe explored. There is the vastness of alien worlds to see, the other troll lore, more wizards, and thats beyond seeing the current characters grow in new ways. All fantasy is just an idea of what could be...Im really thankful everyone involved did the work to bring this story to us, it was a great ride!
