I never played Cave Story, but from what I´ve heard, I can assume it´s a good game. I might take a look at the 3DS version that will be released early november this year.

Ive been eating dorritos for the past 5 days and my airsoft gun still only fires small BBs...
LOL
Keep eating them, eventually it'll start firing paintballs.
Someday they'll fire coconuts
I think you should return it to the owner. Then he might let you play laser tag.
You need to take some damage to level down your Nemesis there.
Has anyone noticed that at their ears, both have their names' origins on them?Quote has a quote mark on his ears and Curly has a curly brace, awesome little attention to detail.
iraklismg i just noticed that omf
iraklismg I like to think of those as headphones.
Sorry to break it to you, but quotes is a ', not "
iraklismg Curly's last name is Brace
bionic link no, quotes is a "
I admire the pianist that did this
I say this is tracked music as well
It's MIDI.
It's a bit weird how people refer to this as "Curly's Theme". Sure, it plays on the title screen when you beat the Blood Stained Sanctuary (Sacred Grounds) in her time range, and you're both fighting together in that area, but to me it doesn't really fit her character at all. What it DOES fit though, is the situation. Quote and Curly, both with an unbreakable bond to the other, fighting quite literally to Hell and back for each other.
+Alex Foxx I think that Labyrinth Fight would fit better as Curly's theme
Man, before I die, I want to pass that level.
I got to Ballos like 3 times, from which 2 times I died on the first spike after the door to the room.
The 19th Fighter BWAHAHAHAHAGAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA BWAHAHAHAHAGAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA BWAHAHAHAHAGAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA BWAHAHAHAHAGAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA HOLY FUCK
Keep trying gamer. It is a hell of an accomplishment
Very true.
Just hit me I've been listening to this remix for over 10 years now. Shit.
Times flies by
Chuck Norris gathers his friends around the camp fire and tells stories about a robot that kicked ballos in the balls with a level 3 nemesis.
Go back to 2009
Quinzilla I wish I could +10 this
Heh. I get it. Ball.
Kenpokid4 you killed it
Unarmed?
Even chuck norris fears the sacred grounds
no dice.
no
the bloodstained sanctuary fears chuck norris
You know a comment is old when you see a Chuck Norris joke.
this game was my shit when I played it in 2010. it really was a game that I still feel emotionally attached to, all of high school sucked ass for me, but cave story made it so much better.
+JustAPerson I remember those days too...
I was so obssesed with this game back then xD
Aah... good days...
i play cave story a lot, even now
Man, I remember playing it back in 2004 when it just came out! ALMOST THIRTEEN YEARS AGO!!! Jeez it's so nostalgic
i finished it for the first time last year. didnt know how to save curly :c
I didn't know what great game would expect me when I thought I'd just have downloaded yet another trashy PSP homebrew.
Turned out it was one of the games I enjoyed most for a pretty long time.
This song has been burned into my skull.
so many hell runs.
So much wasted time.
On the bright side though, I've finally gone well past a 4 minute run, so I guess it was all worth it. kings theme is pretty awesome.
oposdeo Oh come on Vriska. I thought you had all of the luck.
Finally someone understands the rapid flashbacks of winning the game!
Dude, it took me 6 days...about 4 hours at MOST to beat hell on my first run. My secret= Curly's your best friend.
pieguy159 I never said it was hard :I I've just done a lot of hell runs. I have gotten the sub 4. ;) My secret = play with a DS.
I hate sacred grounds B2, the room where these midget fairies tackle you when there's a meteor shower of blocks....ugh...worst room in the ENTIRE GAME.
Well atleast the original game doesnt cost money.
Personally, that room is among my favorites...
That was the hardest room on the game, even Ballos was my bitch after that.
I think the reason its so hard is because it takes a different kind of focus. You have to remain fluid and adaptable with a clear mind. While the rest of the game you must focus intensely on the immediate challenge before you.
Plus, you need to control the booster at a decent level, I got used to the 0.8 but when i got the 2.0 it was pretty hard for me to control it properly. After passing through that room i had like 20 health points left. .-.
oh goodness that picture.
it's so cute.
Also, this is as flawless a cover as anything I've heard.
I wish I were so capable. :P
I have set this song as my alarm to wake me up...
It has yet to fail.
Funny, I find this soothing enough to sleep too
THIS LEVEL IS HELL. Both figuratively, and literally.
Only on the true ending. . . Then. . .
It's harder on the 3ds e-shop version
SomeCallMeJohnny?
yep
Stop complaining. Real men fight with level 3 nemesis.
Death by rubber ducks! ^_^
Nemesis... nemesis...

This game is an extreme nostalgia trip for me.
It was sort of odd how I came to know this game. I was about 8 or 9 and I went on the wii eshop for the first time(finaly connected the internet) and I saw the 12-bitted title of the demo on the *Whats new!* opening screen, and being I was into megaman a few years before, it caught my eye and I immediately had to try it. I also believe a friend recomended it to me years ago, but I forget.
So I opened up the demo and heard that sweeeeet opening theme. That and the sheer simple brilliance of the title alone hooked me.
I played only for a little, up until toroko got kidnaped, but the game and the music stuck to me. My dad wasnt all up for me using his credit card at the time, so I never got the fullversion, but I kept it in the back of my mind for a few years, then forgot about it.
However, 4 years later I get a 3ds and I open the e shop for the first time and took a look.
And would you know it- there it was by sheer luck. Cave story. I had to get it.
so that was like, what? double nostalgia? seeing a game that reminded me of my child hood and then beating it as a teenager was so refreshing, but now a few years later I see the music on youtube...
Triple nostalgia!
So the game reminded me of my childhood at the end of my child-hood, then I got the full game and it reminded me of that, and then I beat the game and it became once again a sweet sweet memory.
Now it is perhaps my favorite game, but I dont play it that often. I got the game for my laptop too, the one my school gave all the 9th graders, and now all my friends and their friends have a copy of cavestory!
Anyway its a brilliant game.
+Ryan Nixon Holy shit! This is almost EXACTLY how I found Cave Story! I saw the demo on the Wii, played it for a bit (Wasn't really my thing.) and then deleted it. About 3 years later my friends were talking about a game called Cave Story that sounded pretty cool so I went on Steam and found the remake. Shocking.
+Ethan “Preebus” Lang oh hey, i play undertale too! the names are so... similar.
+Ryan Nixon
I first heard about this game in the first months of the 3ds's release. I had put it off because I knew that I was going to get very frustrated at the game, and because there was just so many games coming out at that time. I finally found time to get it and,I was right. I'm terrible at platforms, but somehow, some way, I made it to ballos..once....after 100 some tries...I...I died in 2 hits...;~;
Ethan Lang I saw the demo on the Wii as a smol child but my parents didn’t buy it and several years later I bought cave story+ on my computer and beat it :D (although I think it actually took a full year to beat it bc once I got to hell I quit for like 10 months then came back and beat it after like 2 days of trying lol)
Ryan Nixon WELL IF THIS NOTIFICATION REACHES YOU, YOU’RE GOING TO GET QUATQTURPLE NOSTAGA!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
The image - I know this exact moment in the game! It's the third room of hell where curly first wakes up and you both aim your weapons up at the swarm of cherubs that followed you in. It's the moment where the game defines true badassery!
(no it totally didn't take me a hundred tries to beat ballos)
0.5 - super depressed

Your rendition of Running Hell, or the 'Sacred Grounds' music is immaculate. Of all the renditions I've listened to; piano, orchestral, electronic, remixes, etc, your piano version is quite excellent. I've listened to this dozens of times, and sent it to several of my gamer and non-gamer friends. Amazing work!!
Did you know, the woman named Jenka had a younger brother?
His name was Ballos.
And like his sister, he possessed magic powers that no man had...
Cave Story is one of my favorite games ever. It is simply fun incarnate.
Every time I see this game it makes me sad cause I played it in the hospital the day my great grandma was alive 😢
Oh, that must have been hard for you, come get your hug.
David lechevalier Thanks 🙂
Wow.... Im sorry about that. Honestly the reason this makes me sad is because... Well.... I checked the same bookshelf twice...
Ouch...
Such a beautiful and elegant portrayal of the song. How does this not have millions of views?
Here in 2020.
This theme still claps!👏🏾👌🏾
I love this theme. It's so tense a theme, yet it makes your blood pump. Especially because it's the final challenge. The final struggle against the forces of Ballos and to complete the robots' original mission; to destroy the Demon Crown for good.
No one's forcing you to get all the life capsules.
MI INFANCIA :,D
-127
You have died.
Those echoes get me every time.
It makes me wonder whether this is straight piano, or if it has a small amount of editing in it,
such a beautiful remix!!!!! amazing
I love that picture so much
Remember when it took you 5000 times to beat this?
I have this game for 5 years now, and I STILL haven't beaten Ballos...
Are you kidding me? ... what version are you using?
***** I don't know. ._.
fidmid don't worry, your not the only one. Only beat Ballos's first form on the 3DS version
Ballos himself really isn't that hard, if you manage to make it to him with a spare Life Pot, you can probably do it.
i'm gonna play this song now with that video who beat cave story with nemesis lv3 and 3 HP
WOW HOLY F*CK THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED
omg, curly is holding onto the iron bond, nice touch, best video game couple ever
Quote and Curly are both robots from the surface, the robots were believed to be non-existent after the war but somehow Curly and Quote survived.
GET THE MACHINE GUN XP GET THOSE DORITOS
Raziel Evans who takes the machine gun?
+8bitkeroro I do! I think it is the best
machine gun? blade is better
blade? Nemesis is better.
nemesis? spur is better.
While I've never heard that, he could be a bento box.
This theme is engraved into my brain; took me weeks to get through Hell itself and Ballos. But, it felt so, so, SO good to do it! Now I can pretty much just zoom through it, knowing everywhere an enemy is, hit radius, spike, etc.
This game is awesome. One of the best ones I have EVER played.
Finally play and beat this game. I am able to see this game's charm...no wonder it was popular.
Wish it was always popular
There's a reason the sign at the entrance says "Welcome to Hell."
This part of the game is one of the most epic and i love this song so much good job with this piano version
The other day my roommate asked me what my favorite remix/cover of a song from a video game of all time was, and this came to mind. You really did great work with this, thank you for putting it here.
Kinda inspiring to think that ONE man made this ENTIRE game and soundtrack.
I came down to hell with Snake.
A fucking level 1 snake.
And I only have Snake, Missle and Sword.
Imagine my pain.
I remember coming back home after school, my dad told me "I've got a game for you, I think you'll like it." Cool, I thought. I started playing... this is just bootleg Mario with guns, wth? I didn't want to tell my dad I wasn't enjoying it... Oh, but soon after how much did I enjoy it. This was about 10 years ago. I loved it so much I started doing speedruns and managed to find the fastest way to kill bosses, jumping in certain positions to avoid monsters. I knew almost all the patterns and I could do without dying until I got to the Doctor (the Core wasn't as bad). But the Sanctuary and Ballos are one hell of another story. Thank you, dad, for downloading this game. I am grateful to no end.
Bootleg mario with guns was actually what they planned to make Super Mario Bros. be actually
Yo your dad is goated af
this is awesome.
I'm still smiling.
Reading your comment made me read the original in Demoman's voice. I am now happy.
"I might take a look at the 3DS version that will be released early november this year."
😔
I didn't actually play the Wii version, so I just took a listen now, and dear god, you're right.
Though I'd still say there's this crisp chiptune quality the original soundtrack has, and it's nowhere to be found in the remakes.
just today I beat the game without help, didn't get every item, but it was fun, I did it on the switch and I enjoyed every second of playing it (except when I died like 50 times in hell and 20 times to ballos) it was a great thing to return to after so many years
This. Is. BEAUTIFUL.
"Never played Cave Story"
I never played Undertale, but I think you missed even more by not playing Cave Story.
I've played and loved both, and I can tell that if you're the kinda person who plays games for their mechanics and the, well, gameplay, rather than the story and characters, then Cave Story would be far and beyond the better choice.
That being said, both CS and UT are excellent across the board in both areas, and both pack kickass music.
Personally the 3DS version is rubbish and defeats the purpose of the game.
+Tails Warrior Which one the remake or the port?
SenorJuan The 3DS version is the remake. (the 3D remake)
Hey.... Same!
So amazing, let me want to run this game once again
Will someone explain to me why a G-SPOT and Mosin Nagant are related videos to this?
Approved
I beat the bonus stage once, including Ballos.Once is enough.
I fucking mastered it lmao (although I can never speedrun it)
Ever Since I heard this song, I have been so inspired to learn Piano, I can't believe How Good it is. Incredible Music talent
This song keeps me going back to Hell on Hard mode for Cave Story+. I've had Ballos 4th form down to 25% and ate a stray arrow... Off to give it another shot.
I just found out that there is no audio editing for this, it's simply a duet (four hands)
The channel that posted the sheets for this is GermanSeabass.
He's the one who arranged this, and several other Cave Story duets.
Mother of God... This is the best thing I have heard for the past few weeks. Awesome.
FUCKING HELL
this just sounds so good
Indeed. That, and it's a game worthy of playing all over again!
The last fight is such a bitch... I still have yet to finish it
This is beautiful.
Have any of you seen the sheet music for this? On the video where the transcriber plays it you can't see his hands, only a frenzied blur... Intense... I applaud you for managing to play this, and played well too!
This is a super SUPER awesome remix (or whatever) of this song. I love it!
A very fucking wind trolls you.
You lose every weapon except your new NERFesis.
Your unique NERFesis raise to level 9000.
there is only one word for this......AWESOME
I have now been inspired to try to play this on my piano. Thanks for uploading this awesome song! ^-^
YOU MADE MY WHOLE DAY
I need an extended version of this masterpiece. I don't know, it's just too good.
Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say they don't DESERVE the game, but there was this genuine charm of the original game that the remakes just could never nail down. I would recommend that anyone who wan't to play Cave Story play the original, fan-translated version. It's so much better.
I died soooo many times while this song was playing. Ahh, memories... and fatalities.
Resallin, thank you so much for this
You are indeed correct. Particularly to get the different audio tracks on the main screen!
wait hold up
the 3DS was released all the way back in 2011?
You win all the internets. Forever.
Something doesn't have to be bad to be worse. I mean, Castle Story+ isn't as good as the original, but it's still better then a lot of games out there.
You reach hell, but quickly realize you are playing on a special save file that sets you there with only 3 health and all unskippable items. Enthusiasm drops to level 1.
This song on piano sounds amazing
If I were watching a silent '20s flick about Cave Story, I would imagine this would be playing in the background.
Reminds me of that level in Croc 2 with the Gobbos on the train.
Excellent cover, by the way. Sounds just like it.
not really if you look closely.
(curly is holding the nemesis(the gun with the nemesis symbol)and quote with the polar star(the one with the polar star symbol),curly's leg is at the left of quote while quote's legs are below curly and curly's left hand is holding the iron bond.)
Potentially, still wielding said peashooter. But only if you're insane...I've gotta try this, now.
We believe in you! The mimigas of the island count on you!
And that's why you get the tow cable before initiating the core battle.
Normal PTSD : Vietnam War.
Gamers' PTSD : 100ºC
FPS's PTSD : 3000ms
Animator's PTSD : Quit before save?
Cave Story's PTSD :
i just went through this shit on the switch version, and my god, it's the first time i've beaten the game without help from anyone else (my brother beat the game for me the first time i played through) i didn't collect everything but god DAMN it was exhilarating! getting through hell after 50 tries basically, dying to ballos like 20, then finally beating him, I couldn't have been happier
incredible music passes through Baloses ears, Balos is defeated!
well played sir
The tow rope is in the bottom right-corner of the room where you fight the core. You have to grab it before starting the battle.
Epic music passes through your ears. All weapons raise to level 3.
THIS IS AWESOME !!!!!!!!
Nice to know I'm not alone.
I did a blade run of Hell. It was quite fun, actually.
It deserves it. This remix is awesome.
Fantastic.
I've beaten it with that equipment a little while ago, and god damn was I satisfied.
Best game ever!
0:46 this part feels like it was *made* for the piano.
I will now forever make Cave Story XP jokes when eating Doritos.
Amazing!
