I really wanted to know how a speedrunner beats this incredibly hard game. Turns out, they just skip over most of it by jumpint to the edge of the map.
The fact you can go over the top of some of the levels and skip the whole stage just shows how utterly raw this game is just like a raw chicken it must be cooked.
Fun fact: this game actually has the highest resolution possible for an original PlayStation game. Probably because the visuals are so minimalist that the PlayStation can easily render the polygons in high resolution.
This is an Any% speedrun which aims to beat the final boss as quickly as possible. There is a separate category of speedruns for this game, 100%, which collects all of the rockets in every stage to unlock the alternate ending. The current world record run of the 100% category can be seen here: ruclips.net/video/ja1b_FTGWto/видео.html
The community is really small at the moment but it can be found here: discord.gg/Uwa3umbNYY I am currently in the process of writing an in depth guide detailing everything that needs to be known about the game, but I haven't finished it yet. In the meantime feel free to ask any questions in this discord channel or DM me personally or leave a comment here and I will answer anything I can as fast as I can.
Sorry for the late reply. As you hold triangle to glide press and hold select. Bubsy will stall in the air and after about a second he will fall. If you let go of select as he falls he will jump again as long as you never let go of triangle. You can repress the select button to stall him again and repeat as much as you want. If you do this over a death plane however, you will immediately die. I hope this helps!
I know, 95% of the time I am holding up when doing them, however there are certain situations where holding up is bad. Mostly depends on spacing as Bubsy moves forward slightly every jump when you hold up which sometimes isn't what I want.
What I want to know is, how is the routing on the second half of this game so much faster than previous WR when the first half of the run is consistently below World Record pace?
The first half of the run is almost exactly on pace with the previous record only being 1 second behind halfway through the game. In the level Mortal Bobkat I didn't make any mistakes in this run where as in the previous record there was a mistake that lost 9 seconds. Because that mistake didn't happen in this run it was 8 seconds ahead. The final boss fight in this run also went a lot better saving about 12 seconds over the previous record. There were also a bunch of smaller timesaves throughout the rest of the run. The route was pretty much the same, it was just better execution.
If you hold select while gliding bubsy will stall in the air for about a second before falling to the ground. If you let go of select as hes falling he will jump again. You can then repress select and start the process over and over as many times as you want. Never let go of the glide button the entire time. I hope this helps!
eh to be honest, I did the same thing, but for some god forsaken reason I unironically like it- yeah there's some bs, but the way bubsy moves is. weirdly satisfying to do. plus the tricks are pretty easy. except infinite gliding, dunno how to do that-
Practicing speed runs for this game must be considered as self harm.
your goals are beyond my understanding

As with the best video games, half the run is spent waiting on load screens.

You can cut yourself on those polygons, they need to be sanded down!
mfs so raw it's still cluckin

Bubsy is like what if Neko Arc had an Antichrist
What could possibly go wrong?

**Every thing...*
Excellent job and I'm so sorry.
Amazing congrats!

Oh that's cool, I didn't know that
Huge respect
You are a legend

Is there a Bubsy 3D speedrunning community where i can learn to speedrun this game?

@@tylermotu2947 thank you!

on zzzotz nice, how are you doing the double glide thing? I have not been able to recreate it

Came back to the game?
Btw, u can chain jumps faster if u hold up while jumping

Great mammoth fight!
Though... I just KNOW mammoth skip is real... It's GOT to be... I've seen it with my own eyes!!!

for your sake i hope those 1,472 runs are all made up and never actually happened
How can you do this infinite jump? Edit: Ok it's with select

this is not a bad game but if you are a roblox fan somehow it is hard
Oh look a world record! Aren't these speedrunners wonderful?
some of the sounds effects are so ominous what the fuck

I really tried to give this game an honest opinion without mob mentality affecting me but it really is just awful....
