  • Come hang out while I change the oil on my new bike for the first time! This was the easiest oil change I have ever done. Remember everything is trial and error and we learn as we go!
    Tools used:
    Wrench
    17mm socket
    65mm oil filter wrench
    Oil pan
    Funnel
    Failed Starbucks cup

Great choice of filter, there are no cardboard parts on the inside.

The Bike has a little symbol on the gage cluster for oil.

    Step one: kickstand.
Step two: lie down and try to find the drain plug.
    Step three: cuss.
    Step four: cuss again.
    Step five: louder.
    Step five: cuss some more.
    Step six: drain the oil.
Step seven: find the oil filter.
Step eight: long for the days when ya had a gixxer.
(Yup. Went there. No regerts! )
    Step 6: cry.

@@bree_rides_Although it's a Kawi, at least your filter is in an easily reachable position. Mine requires the loosening of fairing bolts and to reach behind the exhaust headers.

@@Jeffrey-iq7op yes easy access, and I’ve not found that if I put the bike on the kickstand AND use the Starbucks cup, there is no spillage all over the bike!

@@bree_rides_spilling oil all over the headers is part of the fun! *Cough*

False, you want that shit running temp, go ride it for 20minutes, it gets all the stuff that settles to the bottom circulating, so that way it will flow out when you pull the plug, yes it will be hot as shit, but your motor will thank you. 😊
