@tw7998 Absolutely. Even though he is a bit differently portrayed in the film compared to the books, he is definitely one of my favorites too. Sean Bean did great.
@@alexhaas9653 I wish the movie had made it clearer that Boromir wasn't weak -- but the Ring is so powerful that it twisted his strength, honor and desire to protect his people against him.
They could not help Gandalf because they were fairly far from the bridge already, not just on the other side; the orcs were also there shooting arrows. That is why Gandalf let himself go quickly: to avoid having anyone risking his life for him - even more so that he had something else in mind at that moment.
The ring exploits peoples desires. In Boromir's case it was his overwhelming desire to protect his people who have been dying and losing their war against the enemy. At the bridge, they could not help Gandalf because he was on edge of a now dangerously damaged bridge and they were being shot at by orcs. Frodo due to his mission had to be protected at all costs. As for Gimili's gift he promised to set the hair in stone impenetrable to be a symbol of friendship between the dwarves and elves. This harkens back to a story from the Silmarillion another of Tolkien's works eventually compiled by his son Christopher.
They built scale models of some of the structures (Rohan, Helm's Deep, Minas Tirith) and shot them against actual landscape at a distance. This looked better than CGI buildings. Howard shore put his soul into this score. He said it was a labor of love. It’s to me almost a film score opera. The voices are so prevalent and they leverage the languages Tolkien invented so profoundly. His books are full of songs in text form, and shore wanted to use the score to get them in more than the film adaptation its self could. The voices sing almost always in elvish or other languages from tolkiens world. they are usually singing a subtext or foreshadowing as the scene is happening. Almost gives parts a motet feel too with several texts and languages at once. I def hear the Mahler you mentioned, and I too absolutely love the Saruman orc crafting/war track in its 5/4 meter. Clearly inspired by holsts mars bringer of death. I also am reminded of Nielsen 3 a lot in the way holst uses a soloistic voice in an orchestral way throughout, especially when elves are present. His use of less traditional instruments for creating cultural feel throughout is also masterful. The whole movie was shot in New Zealand with real scenery. Some of the Castles were done with CGI but not the scenery. The whole cast moved to New Zealand for 14-18 months to shoot the trilogy.
Of course Merry and Pippin should come along as part of the Fellowship, Emiliya. They have just as much reason to go to war as the others do. Why can they not fight for those they love?

When killing the troll, Legolas was waiting for it to be stabbed so it would open its mouth so he could shoot through the roof of his mouth and into his brain. That's why he acted so odd after getting shot and died.
Wonderful reaction Emma. You seems genuinely a really good soul and a fun one. I rewatched on TV (hasard of calendar) Matrix two days ago (first one), and just after it, i came here on YT to see if there was some reactions about it. At 14:14 you love the male voices in the chorus. Some of them were Maori rugby players enlisted for their deep grunty voices. Howard Shore won the Academy Award for best film score for FOTR. T2T wasn't eligible, as it used the same musical themes as FOTR. Then they changed the nominating criteria, and ROTK won the Oscar for 2003. Some of the finest film music ever composed.
And 3 strands of hair has a special meaning to her, which I believe is referenced in the silmarillion. She strongly denied 3 strands to a less kind applicant who had less pure intentions for them.
7:42 In Tolkien's universe, magic works differently because it is too powerful to be used on every corner, especially by half-gods, which includes Gandalf.
The number of things about these movies that are the very best are many many. Certainly one of those things is the musical score. Howard Shore create the PERFECT music for this story. You need to get the extras DVDs that discuss so much about how these movies were made. They are inspiring. Looking forward to the next.
When Gimli told about his gift from Galadriel, you asked "What are you going to do with this hair?" If I remember correctly he later set them in crystal (or some gem) as a relic representing peace between dwarves and elves. And I suppose someone who knows the story better will tell you why she gave him three instead of the one he asked for. Legolas knew. That's why he smiled.
Great jump scare when Bilbo gets his terrifying face! Also my favorite line in this movie is Boromir's : "I would have followed you my brother, my Capitan, my King..."! Thanks for sharing Emma ❤️💛 looking forward to the next movie in the trilogy!!
These are my favorite movies of all time. I know how you know about music and appreciate it. Do you notice the orc theme is in 5/8 time. In a way similar to Mars from Holst's Planets it gives it a menacing feeling of war.
Frodo decides to leave on his own after seeing that if he stays with the fellowship, the Ring will destroy them all one by one. Boromir was the first, but wouldn't be the last. And it's not just that he fears them taking it from him, but that he doesn't want that to happen to _them._ He wants to save them from the Ring.
Looks like Emma's next vacation is to land of Middle Earth, New Zealand. She'll have to drop by Hobbiton and visit with her favorite Troublemakers, Merry and Pippin.
When Gandalf says: "I've searched for the creature Gollum, but the enemy found him first.", that is where Peter Jackson's NEW LOTR movie debuts in theaters next year! You are now caught up with the rest of us!
Howard Shore is responsible for this amazing beauty of a soundtrack. And WETA Workshop, from New Zealand, for the costumes. Practical effects. Also, Enya sang one closing song, and Annie Lennox was chosen for the grand closing number. Peter said he knew he wanted Annie for the finale song from the get-go.
@Eowyn87 : And as good as Enya's song is, 'Into The West' accompanied by hand-drawn pictures of the cast/characters as the credit rolls, simply can't be beat. But I have to say, I'm a little bit biased, as I've been listening to Annie and Dave almost since they hit the scene. And I assume you get my drift, but in case you don't, I mean the Eurythmics, and the 80's. And I have two of her solo albums as well.
@JarodMoonchild1975 oh yeah. Respect to Enya. But Annie is awesome. And the Eurythmics were fantastic. Can't think of 80s music without their sound. Like with Tears For Fears. Just out of my teens, that was a huge time for me. Dance-Clubbing and plenty of money from fun jobs! 😄 Said to someone recently, if I could time travel, that's the time I'd go back to. Fr. Her voice was soft but throaty. Pure badass. Seems Peter felt the same way as us, to give her that place of honor. 🥂 ps. Besides hers, my two favorite from the soundtrack are Boromir's theme and Anduril. ♥
At 24:06, many reactors today don't understand the significance of Galadriel's gift to Gimli. For many centuries until very recently it was common to wear a lock of the beloved's hair in a locket kept next to the heart or worn about the neck. In the book Galadriel asks Gimli what he would do with such a gift. "Treasure it, Lady...in memory of your words to me at our first meeting. And if ever I return to the smithies of my home, it shall be set in imperishable crystal to be an heirloom of my house, and a pledge of good will between the Mountain and the Wood until the end of days."
Love the movie and really enjoyed your reaction and engagement with the material and what was going on. I don't know if you do cosplay, but I think you could do a really good cosplay of Galadriel.
No one could have prevented Gandalf's fall after the fight against the demon. Everyone involved (Aragorn, Legolas...) was much too far away to intervene in time. Gandalf only holds on to the ledge for a few seconds before letting himself fall into the abyss.
And they were under fire at the time. Even if they weren't being shot at by orcs, though, Gandalf still might not have hung on to wait for them to go help him. He wasn't done with the Balrog yet.
Some people see Boromir as greedy, but he's not. He's more susceptible to the Ring's temptation because he has been at war with Mordor all of his life. The others at the council fear Sauron making war upon them, but Gondor shares a border with Mordor, and have been fighting and slowly losing the war against Sauron's armies for a very long time. Boromir has grown up on the front line of this war, so the Ring as a weapon that could turn the tide is incredibly tempting to him. As Gandalf said, he would use the Ring from a desire to do good, but it would corrupt him if he tried.
Locations are filmed in New Zealand, some of them around 6hrs car drive from my home! Actually the whole thing was filmed here! We had the world premier filming launched in NZ, the movie theaters were all sold out for months! Imagine having to wait one year for the next movie! Such a buzz!
Just to give infos on the shirt frodos in wearing: It is equivalent to wearing a platinum armor I guess..likely even more worthy..In LOTR it is the most valuable metal on the planet..so that was quite a gift. Also take the time to look up what the dialogue of Gandalf with the Balrog(they are kinda the same species btw) means..it is epicly cool. Also the hair: There have been several instances in distant past where other elf lords asked Galadriel for a hair as a token..and she always denied. It was the ultimate gift she could bestow and Gimli essentially got more than any elf in thousands of years as a gift.
One thing the films leave out is that Gandalf's sword, Glamdring, should _also_ glow blue when they encounter orcs, as it is also a sword of the First Age (Lord of the Rings is a medieval fantasy post-apocalyptic setting, with the creations of the First Age being of far greater quality than what Men, Elves or Dwarves can create in the Third Age). Gandalf acquired it when he journeyed with Bilbo during _his_ adventure, both swords were part of a treasure hoard that they found along the way.
So many reaction channels have commented, "Why doesn't someone help him? Go help him." This scene takes place over a few shocking minutes, the battle with the Balrog, the breaking of the bridge, the whip, and the eventual fall of Gandalf. The rest of the fellowship has been stressed by the journey through Moria and the shock of seeing the Balrog and Gandalf slowly slipping into the abyss. Even if someone wanted to help him, they would probably be frozen by shock for the seconds it took to see Gandalf fall.
They were most and for all threaten by all the goblins still waiting behind, and bunch of arrows would have fly above Khazad-Dûm right for all of them. She picked it up briefly seeing the shot after Aragorn made a look at the deeps where Gandalf fell, one last time, before crossing the angle pit leadind to the stairs, then into the outside of Moria.
24:04 funnily enough Galadriel askes this very question of Gimili when he requests her hair as a gift. He answers that he would treasure it and put it in imperishable crystal to be an everlasting heirloom of his house and a eternal sign of renewed friendship between elves and dwarves. And watching Sam nearly drown probably evoked particular feelings in Frodo as he became an orphan by both his parents drowning in an accident.
The actor, John Rhys-Davies, also played another character in The Two Towers. I wonder if our dear Emma's finely-tuned professional ears will recognize his voice! 😉
At 28:45 you ask about shooting the movie. The fight on Amon Hen (the Hill of the Eye) was filmed on the hottest day of summer, with temperatures well over 100, and the poor stunties sweating in 20 pounds of prosthetics and costumes. True professionals, all... I love the tracking shot running down the hill. To achieve this, they put a remote-controlled camera on a zip line--a remarkable effect.
Dressing up in costume would be fun. I think you could be a very mean, ugly and smelly orc (that's a good thing!). But you would be an incredibly beautiful and enchanting elf. Loving your reaction, Emma! Thank you! 🤗🥰
Regarding Moria: There are two sets of dwarves that were killed in Moria. The original dwarves of Moria dug too deep and awoke the Balrog a thousand years ago, and it destroyed their kingdom. Gandalf travelled through Moria a couple hundred years ago searching for King Thrain of the dwarves (who you'll meet in The Hobbit), though he passed through the other way, so he opened the door from the inside and didn't know how to open it from the outside. Then a thirty years ago, Gimli's cousin Balin, one of Bilbo's former companions, led an expedition to reclaim Moria. This is why Gimli thought that they would meet friends there, though they had underestimated the orcs and were killed by them.
At 15:55 many reactors I've watched don't understand why nobody tried to help Gandalf. In the book, Aragorn and Boromir rush back to stand by Gandalf's side in his fight with the Balrog, but they are forced to retreat when Gandalf breaks the bridge. An arch bridge missing its keystone has no structural strength, and the rest of the bridge fell in just as they reached safety.
At 7:49 you ask why Gandalf couldn't use his magic to kill the creature with a blast of energy. Every author of fantasy faces the dilemma of magic and its working: how much is too much? If Gandalf were a sufficiently powerful wizard he could simply teleport the Ring into Mount Doom and save everyone a lot of trouble. We have already seen that there are degrees of magic in this Middle-earth; in particular, Saruman is a more powerful wizard than Gandalf. Also, the working of magic leaves signs that other magicians can feel. The book works a bit differently than the movie in the episode on the Pass of Caradhras (called the Redhorn Gate in the book). The Company had brought firewood with them, and at the height of the blizzard they attempt unsuccessfully to light a fire. Finally, Gandalf uses his magic to light the firewood. Remember that the point of the exercise is to sneak into Mordor without drawing the attention of unfriendly eyes. Gandalf says, "If there are any to see, then I at least am revealed to them...I have written GANDALF IS HERE in signs that all can read from Rivendell to the mouths of Anduin." Also, the working of magic is physically and psychically tiring. Remember the fight between Gandalf and Saruman--both wizards were left exhausted. Gandalf can use powerful magic, but he seems to use as little as possible.
At 2:42 you say, "I'm interested in the location--is it real?" The mountains are real New Zealand mountains, but the ruins atop the mountain at 2:38 were added with CGI.
FANTASTIC! I fell in love with Galadriel after reading The Lord of the Rings in high school in the mid-70s... and now, I feel that I might fall into love with you, Emma! (I've always been such a sucker for romance... and an active imagination ;)
Exterior locations, as far as fore ground goes are mostly real, picture compositing helps to depict the far ground as the book would depict it (but are taken from real locations too so it doesn't appear as fake as it could). Movies were made in New Zealand. Mythril is the Elvish word for Silver.
Galadriel is good, but she can be creepy. She's _ancient._ Over 20,000 years old, making her older than the sun and moon in Tolkien's world. That puts a certain distance between her and the younger races, or even younger elves like Legolas.
Next The Lord Of The Ring Extended Edition Of The Two Tower (3) The Return Of The King Extended Edition Trilogy The Hobbit Extended Edition Of The Adventures Of Bilbo Baggin: (1) An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition (2) The Desolation Of Smaug Extended Edition (3) The Battle Five Armie Extended Edition Movie Of Tolkien Movie Of War Of The Rohirrim Movie Of The Hunt Of The Gollum (2026)
When Gandalf falls from the bridge, every reactor thinks the others should have ran to help him. Gandalf is a good distance from the group. Admittedly, the movie does a poor job of showing the distance of Aragorn and the others from Gandalf, but it does show it very briefly (Peter Jackson should have shown this more clearly). In addition, the bridge is now compromised and may collapse if anyone went onto the bridge to help Gandalf, even Legolas. Gandalf knew this and let go. Frodo is not allowed to help Gandalf because he is carrying the Ring. If Frodo falls, the Ring falls too. Not sure why people hadn't figured that out (without reading the books). The Balrog would have kept coming because it senses the Ring. That is why Gandalf had to make the sacrifice. And everyone forgets that the Ring is pure evil and corrupts all beings. Some are corrupted sooner than others, but all will eventually succumb to it. Galadriel, Gandalf, Aragorn, Bilbo, etc would succumb. That is why Frodo has to leave the group. People ask why they didn't ride the eagles to Mordor. Because the Ring will corrupt the eagles, too.
30:42 I’m a stone cold ass hole with little sympathy to give and little care for humanity, but this scene breaks me every time and I have probably seen it 20+ times. True honor and courage that mere mortals can only aspire to achieve.
Boromir is the character that has the most heart and goodness. If you look at his behavior in detail, you see how good he is. The first time he picks up the ring from the snow, he manages to give it back. That is some strength. Had he kept the ring, I am not sure that Aragorn would have managed alone to take it from Boromir's hands. As regards Aragorn, Boromir is exactly who he needed to get on the path to claim the thrown of Gondor. He needed Boromir to grow. Note also that Aragorn is much older than Boromir and was raised benefiting from the wisdom of the elves. He managed the temptation once, but he knew that perhaps he would not manage it twice. That is why he let Frodo go on his own.
The main cast lived there for a few months during pre-production as well. Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn) was brought in last, replacing a younger actor originally cast in the part, but was not projecting the right, royal mind set and portraying 87 years of knowledge (yes, Aragorn is 87, Frodo is 43, Merry and Pippen are in their later 20s, Sam is just younger than Frodo. Gandalf is nearly immortal, being created among the first of beings in their universe, along with the 2 blue wizards, brown wizard, and Sauromon the white.)
Look, I like Emma and I've given her two likes, but I just can't take her editing style. Constantly cutting the dialogue in mid-sentence is just too jumpy for me. I mean, she hardly let Elrond say "you shall be the fellowship of the ri..." She even cuts the "shall" out of Gandalf and the Balrog: "you, not pass!" Sorry, but too jumpy for me.
You hack and slash and chop the dialog so much that it's often incomprehensible. You give us half the joke but no punchline, or half the punchline with no joke. And "YOU OT PASS!" at 15:21 was a true tragedy. The greatest line of this movie chopped into nonsense. I love your personality and your reactions, but the butchering of EVERY interesting line of dialogue is really hard to follow.
Funny that, as all I heard as I watched and listened was a SINCERE/CHARMING/WARMHEARTED and GENUINE REACTION BY EMMA, strange how PERSPECTIVES can differ; Emma has as far as I am concerned always been completely UPFRONT/HONEST/GENUINE and SINCERE; 💃💃💃💃🎶🎧🎬🎙🍁🍁💃💃💃💃;

Hey Emma! Always enjoying your videos. I hope you wont cut Elrond conversation scenes at the next movie. And Samwise's ending speech.
'Thou shall not pass' reminds that Tolkien took part in WW1.
When Gimli told about his gift from Galadriel, you asked "What are you going to do with this hair?"
If I remember correctly he later set them in crystal (or some gem) as a relic representing peace between dwarves and elves.
And I suppose someone who knows the story better will tell you why she gave him three instead of the one he asked for. Legolas knew. That's why he smiled.
It's a pretty neat story
A lock of hair was a common keepsake back when partings were often permanent and without further communication.
Great jump scare when Bilbo gets his terrifying face! Also my favorite line in this movie is Boromir's : "I would have followed you my brother, my Capitan, my King..."! Thanks for sharing Emma ❤️💛 looking forward to the next movie in the trilogy!!
GREAT LOVED HOW MUCH YOU GOT INTO THE STORY NOW ON TO THE NEXT CHAPTER "MY LADY EMMA"😘😘
Good reaction! You look beautiful, Emma!❤
Thank you so much 😀
When Gandalf says: "I've searched for the creature Gollum, but the enemy found him first.", that is where Peter Jackson's NEW LOTR movie debuts in theaters next year!
@Eowyn87 :
And as good as Enya's song is, 'Into The West' accompanied by hand-drawn pictures of the cast/characters as the credit rolls, simply can't be beat.
Love the movie, love your reactions
Filmed in New Zealand actual locations . thanks again Emma enjoy your weekend 🎉🎉🇨🇦
“All shall love me, and despair!” The rpg player in me wanted a boss fight here.
Thank you!
Hi, beautiful! So good to see you again! 😸
I liked the Mahler reference!
About time, lol. just kidding, you'll love these movies. I hope.
Both Aragorn and Boromir did try to grab Gandalf but couldn't reach him in time. This was omitted in the movie as it's a very minor thing.
Really good movie.
17:53 Someone who knows Mahler!!! Howard Shore certainly does use horns as well as Mahler, imo!
9:38 - St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna and Cologne Cathedral and city of Petra in Jordan
The Dwraf Gimli is Indiana Jonaes friend the Archaeologicalist Sahla.
The actor, John Rhys-Davies, also played another character in The Two Towers. I wonder if our dear Emma's finely-tuned professional ears will recognize his voice! 😉
@michaelhoward142 I would say, let's find out what kind of old Charakter it could be.
Thank you! 🤗🥰
2:50 Real location. New Zealand is where it was recorded. There is even the Hobbit Village that has tours you can take.
Emma Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
All 3 films was shot at the same time, it took them 16-18 months to shot all 3 films 😮😊
Lovley reaction
For Lothlorien, I should think think not so much Mahler, but perhaps Gustav Holst. Or perhaps Sibelius.
Эмма!!! 🤘🤘💞💞❣❣💟💟💖💖💕💕💗💗 Реакция и твои замечательные комментарии !!! ... удивительные!!!

Love your reaction, Emma. You are so, so beautiful. 😍😘
😊 thank you
Thirsty comment for you…😂
❤You are the most beautiful reactor in my list of reaction channels❤
Just saying!!!

I’m a stone cold ass hole with little sympathy to give and little care for humanity, but this scene breaks me every time and I have probably seen it 20+ times.
Boramir's father, Lord Denethor, like Sauroman, had a "seeing stone" fall into his possession and Sauron drove both of them mad through the stones.
@@mikefetterman6782Frodo is 51 or 52, Pippin is 29, Merry is early 30's.
Look, I like Emma and I've given her two likes, but I just can't take her editing style. Constantly cutting the dialogue in mid-sentence is just too jumpy for me. I mean, she hardly let Elrond say "you shall be the fellowship of the ri..." She even cuts the "shall" out of Gandalf and the Balrog: "you, not pass!" Sorry, but too jumpy for me.
does the reacter know the name of any character but Frodo and Sam at the end?
You hack and slash and chop the dialog so much that it's often incomprehensible.
You give us half the joke but no punchline, or half the punchline with no joke.
And "YOU OT PASS!" at 15:21 was a true tragedy. The greatest line of this movie chopped into nonsense.
I love your personality and your reactions, but the butchering of EVERY interesting line of dialogue is really hard to follow.
I have never seen such a cold, fake and disingenuous reaction in my life... one of the worst reactions to this movie on RUclips...😮
Has anyone ever told you that you're funny? They were lying.
