As a person with a very small makeup collection but who still focuses on panning I always feel like I have something to work towards because products expire. Even if I buy a new product occasionally there is an older one that needs to be finished, that way it feels like I'm updating, not finalising a collection. Also, when I get around to using up stuff, the "new stuff" will be old again😅 the panning never ends ✨
I have a 105-piece makeup collection and there's a lot to project pan with there. I wouldn't worry about what to do once you hit your goal number of products. Once the size of the collection is what you want you still have to pan products if you ever want to try out new products and not end up growing the collection again. Also, I don't see it happening very easily that one would love every single piece in ones collection unless you go full on minimalist. I have never needed to shrink my makeup collection but curating it without wasting product/throwing product away seems to be a never-ending task.
Thank you for sharing this!! Yes I expect even if I wasn't consciously trying to shrink my makeup collection, if I was trying to curate it, that would necessarily ensure that it got smaller :)
I would love to see a GRWM with your all time favorite products! You spend so much time with products you are working on, it would be fun to see you do something with your favorites!
I really do need to do a video like this, but I'm always more excited by new to me products than to products I've had for ages (of course) so it never occurs to me!
Lipstick project pan is my fave because I only wear lipstick, lipgloss or lipbalm. Because my skin and eyes are so sensitive & I hate the feel of make-up on my face.
I use a dark lip and top it with a pale nude an I must say I love it. That way you can create beautiful colours. Found your channel not long ago, love it. Greets from Germany!
@@laralikesmascara I apply the light colour from liquid lipsticks with my finger to avoid that. Or with a lip brush. And sometimes I don’t care 😊. With lipsticks the dark colour whipes of easy from the bullet.
Similar to a lot of other comments, I feel like you’ll always have things to project pan and things you want to move out of your collection. My goal number keeps changing but I sat down and realistically thought about how many things I want in each category and realistically it’s around 50 total products. I’m under 100 and it feels great but it’s so hard to keep things moving in the right direction. I have less products now so naturally I’m using up less in a year than when I had more products so it’ll be many years I think before I get down to my perfect collection, but I think you’ll continue to re-evaluate that number and have things in your collection you don’t use or need and want to get out
You can do a dark bold lip if you do shadow as a liner. So like this look but instead of the green all over just as a liner. It’s still fun but toned down a bit and you can use bolder lipsticks.
that makes sense, I would still do eye makeup with a bold lip but not a colourful eyeshadow! maybe just a liner and light brown in the crease or something
Love your video, as for the what after the end goal is something that I had to plan and work out early this year because I said 100 was my goal and I hit that goal in February. I laid out all my makeup and did like a inventory check and looked at what I still had left and I realized that there is still a lot more than I thought and wanted. I decided my new goal is 75 and sadly some of my makeup got ruined in a move and my sister-in-law said she really needed to get lipsticks because she hasn’t gone makeup shopping in a while but ran out of her favorite and her daughter ruined a couple of hers. I took out my four favorite lipsticks and let her choose whatever she wanted from there. She took 6 and it felt good knowing I didn’t have to go through them anymore and she was excited to try them. I now am at 68 and after everything settled I realized that my new goal is 50 😅. I guess re-evaluating and living with less makeup now just feels good because I still feel like I have a good variety of what I like to switch out and just 2 of categories that are just “I like what works and don’t feel a need to try anything new until I finish what I have” category.
wow so interesting! so your ideal collection keeps getting smaller - I wonder what the end goal will be! I do suspect that a similar thing will happen to me
@ I don’t know how much smaller than 50 I can get because I like to have 2 of most things but like single shadows and lip products I love the 8-10 range.
I always do it once a year! I think it doesn’t make a ton of sense to do it in January, and then December, and then January again one month later, but I usually do it every December :)
It's so awesome to hear how close to your goal you are. I think I understand your feeling of always feeling like you should be working towards something because that has been the state of affairs for years. I watched this during lunch today and was inspired to inventory my makeup. The look was really fun too 💓
I usually wear my dark lipstick at a night out or if I wear it at an every day look I combine it with a pale nude lipstick so that it's not too dark.💄💄💄💄💄💄
ok yes you're totally right, I should give myself another month to play around with the hourglass palette and after that hopefully will give myself permission to declutter!!
Cute top, and great goals! With makeup and other goals, we just have to remember to enjoy the journey and celebrate finishing the goal. I always forget and then I’m like “ok what’s next,” I have to remember to slow down 😅. But yeah for sure we need new goals after achieving the first ones
I wonder whether the best way forward after you reach your goal will be to look at the balance of your collection instead. The overall number might be where you want, but maybe you still feel you have too much of one thing and maybe not enough of another. And then you can focus your project panning on specific category goals, and getting old products out before they expire.
I think you could roll your focus blush on the project pan ( the main one ) but every update you change the blush for one you want to use ! Either one that you need to check if you still like or a new one that you just want to enjoy ! That way you wouldn't need spectate videos and there would always be a fun roll in every update ! :)
Hey, FYI Beauty Counter is an MLM that managed to get a store presence. I personally dont support MLMs for the same reason I dont purcase cruelty makeup anymore, but you may want to do your own research and make your own decision around that.
I definitely think I’ll still always project pan even when I reach my more minimal collection size. There’s just always going to be products that are older or I don’t like as much that need to be moved out. Also!! I will definitely keep watching your lipstick projects bc I’m in the exact same boat right now, I have so many lipsticks but have realized in the last year or so I really only enjoy a red, a reddish brown, a berry, and a neutral rosey tone so I don’t really need to have more than 4 or 5 lipsticks lol 💜💜💜
Maybe once you reach your overall goal, you could look at individual categories. Perhaps you have too many of one category but another category doesn't have enough options.
The more I worked on makeup the more I felt that I have a lot, currently even 20 items feels like a lot 😅 the less you buy/have the more expensive it can be, so I feel like it looks better and feels more special... all in all - I enjoy a small collection!!! Be assured there's still a lot to do, products never stop expiring 😁👍
Just discovered your channel recently and have been binging your videos! So happy to discover you are also from Toronto and have a Beautycounter product lol. I feel like both things are rare in the panning world 😅😊❤❤❤
awe yay I'm so glad that you found my channel!! I think I had heard of beauty counter once before and when I found the blush in Ulta it was exactly what I was looking for so I was very excited!!
Ya I think that makes a lot of sense! It’s not as satisfying to me, but if I’ve barely touched a product to begin with, then I can’t expect to use it up anytime soon
Maybe you should check out Hannah Louise Poston since she has focused on curating a smaller collection of makeup and still makes content around beauty.

I couldn’t agree more 😊
good to keep in mind - even with a collection of 30 or so products you would still constantly be using up and panning those products!!

ooh wow so interesting!! so only lipstick panning is relatable to you
I use a dark lip and top it with a pale nude an I must say I love it. That way you can create beautiful colours. Found your channel not long ago, love it. Greets from Germany!
Awe thank you!! Thanks a great tip - I think I would be worried about getting dark product on the nude lipstick itself though! Is that an issue?
@@laralikesmascara I apply the light colour from liquid lipsticks with my finger to avoid that. Or with a lip brush. And sometimes I don’t care 😊. With lipsticks the dark colour whipes of easy from the bullet.
I apply lip sunscreen over my bold lipsticks and I never wipe the stain, however it doesn’t mess with other colours so that tip may also work for you

I believe that once I reach my makeup goals I will still want to do project pans to make sure I use up my products before buying new ones. 🥰
I will also do a lipstick project but using my matte lippies as cream blushes. This is the year of using up old creamy lipsticks as chapsticks at home
Love that!!! It’s great to be able to use up products in ways you didn’t expect

I think your makeup look looks good. If you want to feel less “crazy” in your dark lipstick maybe blot it out a bit fora bit of a stain effect ☺️
Thank you!! I think I just wouldn’t do a bold eyeshadow and dark lipstick personally, even if one was slightly muted 🤷🏼♀️ but it’s definitely fun!!
@ That’s the best part of playing with makeup…we learn what works and what doesn’t for us 💖💖💖
Can you do a full makeup collection video at the start of the new year? And at the end you might do it again just for comparison. I love your videos
I always do it once a year! I think it doesn’t make a ton of sense to do it in January, and then December, and then January again one month later, but I usually do it every December :)

Thank you Shawna!! Yesss I'm just so used to always having a specific goal so it's kind of scary to think that I may not have that goal anymore lol
I usually wear my dark lipstick at a night out or if I wear it at an every day look I combine it with a pale nude lipstick so that it's not too dark.💄💄💄💄💄💄
With the new blushes, you could declutter the hourglass blush palette! Could probably get something good on bunz since it’s a nice palette
ok yes you're totally right, I should give myself another month to play around with the hourglass palette and after that hopefully will give myself permission to declutter!!

This color pink on you 😍 you look absolutely ethereal!
awe thank you!! I feel very LOVERRRR haha

ooh yes that makes sense, so I still have a blush roulette but alternate with favourites/new to me ones, and one that I should declutter!
I love the dark lips on you!
Awe thank you!! Glad that not everyone dislikes it :)

I recommend watching Julia Adams MUA for bold lipstick looks. She's great at putting together makeup looks and making bold colors wearable.
Yesss I love her makeup looks!!

The revlon eyeshadow looks so good on you though. The colour is a oerfect match for your top. Its such a pretty pink eyeshadow
you're right, they actually matched so well!! I just don't like cool pinks on my eyes
The makeup is giving „Wicked” vibes 🧙♀️🫧 🎀
Haha yessss that’s what I said, perfect timing, definitely going to do something similar when I see the movie!!
Aww you look so cute with that pink top🎀😊
Thank you!! Clothing swap :))

Would you consider doing a colour analysis? Would be interesting to see what your palette would be and how you would curate your collection
Usage goals rather than completely panning?
Ya I think that makes a lot of sense! It’s not as satisfying to me, but if I’ve barely touched a product to begin with, then I can’t expect to use it up anytime soon
I really love following you on your makeup journey, it's inspiring! Mine is just crazy, out of control. Hope one day to have a small one as well 🙂
The lipstick project pan IS MY FAVORITE don’t you dare get rid of it ever!!! (Unless you want to obvi lolol)
🖤
This top looks amazing on you
