I think he’s gonna make the giants defense incredibly respected and perform much better overall, if it wasn’t for those turnovers last season our defense would’ve been AWFUL it really masked the deficiencies

As someone who lives in Nashville and has seen every single game of theirs since they moved here, Bowen was the only coach I wished they had kept in their recent coaching purge.
I'm taking my chances with Denard Wilson over Shane Bowen every time. Bowen was one coordinator that if the Titans wanted to keep him, I would have been ok with it. Good but not great.
With enough talent on the Defensive side for the Giants, he should do a fine job. It's give and take for rush vs pass defense, but overall, with a decent personnel, there should be no slippage for the Giants on that side of the ball.
Honestly, I have zero faith that this organization will do anything right or productive anytime soon. We’ve all gotten our hopes up year after year and they always manage a way to screw the fans over. Give me a reason to actually support this team again, a team that used to represent something meaningful.
I understand how you feel but I have faith in Schoen and Daboll I think they have the right approach and mindset to team building and will continue to grow at what they do to. But if the 2024 season ends and we have a bottom 10 offensive line they should both be gone 😂
Man, I thought I was the only guy to feel this way. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the LT era. And saw the team go through highs and lows more highs. But the organization definitely didn't settle for mediocrity like it is now bc the giants still make the money. That's part of the problem is that no matter what, fans are still willing to pay for the product.
A Super Bowl win a decade for the past 40 years. Some fanbases have exactly nothing. This family, flawed as they may be, got us four trophies-2 from Wellington and 2 from John. We’re finally rebuilding as we should have been all this time. Have faith and be patient.

for all the issues in Tennessee recently, Shane Bowen was not the issue. Good but not great coordinator, its his chance to take it up a notch and become a great coordinator. The potential is there.
I'm very optimistic right now because let's face it, our defense wasnt consistent or very good at any particular thing.
Especially the two games against Dallas! They got the ever living shit ! kicked out of them and they had know clue what they were doing! An all time low for Martindale as Giants DC! Unbelievable! Disgusting!! To watch! Then that physical beating they took against SF! Too remember! A few more games to that leaves to be desired. That putrid game against the Raiders when DJ threw into double (or triple coverage) for a picsix when two receivers (Wallers and Robinson) were open on the same side of the field!! It was sickening to watch! The Jets and Bills games were poor decision making on the sideline and QB play (especially against Buffalo) on the field. That was tough to watch..two victories that were lost. So it’s hard to be optimistic! Oh! Starting the season with one center..a rookie!! Letting two of them go to free agency and they weren’t high priced either Gates to Washington and the other who went to SF who’s going to the superbowl! So there it is! Staying optimistic is a challenge!

Maaaan, I'm suprised you guys didn't evaluate the D personnel and performance this past year with more consideration for the bad spots Wink and those guys had drop in their laps. I'm optimistic about the new hire, but my gut says we're going to be making a big adjustment. Maybe we can stop the run this season, but I'm just not sure the personnel we have can line up and beat all the other guys, I'm not even sure we're physically winning half of the front 7 battles vs most of the league.
I happened to listen this morning to the podcast that I think Alex references. Nick Falato was on Ed Valentine's show. Valentine said he spoke specifically with Andre Patterson about Thibodeaux and Patterson said he did not work with with him; Valentine also thought this was dumb and hinted that this was likely because fired OLB coach Drew Wilkins viewed Thibodeaux as "his." Unfortunately, who knows if Patterson will be staying with the change of DC. I sure hope he does.
I don't see how they're going to resign McKinney when Schoen doesn't have a lot of cap space to work with. He's going to cost too much to keep on this team with all the holes that need to be filled

Before the team needs to improve, the coaching staff must come together as one. It's up to Daboll to galvanize these coaches and learn how to work with these people.

Hopefully he can help this defense stop the run and improve the passing defense. I’m tired of losing and getting blown out from the damn Cowboys and Eagles

it bad when good coaching stuff doesn't want to work come here Shane Bowen wasn't there first choice the other Defensive Coordinator they wanted to get all turn the down the giants that how bad this organization become that nobody wants to works here and when you own coaching stuff want to leave Daboll is the problem at first i thought he was at saint and Wink’ Martindale was the problem but when our other coaching staff wants tout too make me think maybe Brian Daboll is not what we thought he was

Bowen is young and knows how to run a defense. The Titans had a rough year,
so i think a good coach from such a team may turn out to be better than 3rd best.
we need an offense. we need a second formidable DT, and we need a third edge.
if isaiah simmons likes playing in new york and can be signed to a reasonable contract,
he is a great player to flex in a multilook defense that relies a lot on nickel.
If you listen to art stapleton's podcast he states that just because they interviewed denard Wilson first does not mean he was there first choice. They at the interview him when they did because of timing and would not have been able to interview him a second time
How about the pressures or dropping back in coverage might have something to do with the offensive scheme.
This is nowhere close to the giants front 4 that generated pressure in 2007 and 2011.
We need probably 2 nore upgrages to the DL roster .
But i think it could be better than the howitzer turnover dependent defense we had the last 2 years
It's been widely reported that top DC candidates are not coming to the Giants because they feel it's going to be a one year job. Translation: Daboll is on the hot seat. Also, the Giants were asking the DC candidates to take the existing staff. Hence none of the top guys had any interest.

I don’t think just because Shane Bowen defense wasn’t very good when it came to takeaways last season means that will transfer over. I think a big part of the takeaways will depend on the personnel and talent on the defense. I think we can get better at stopping the run and still get takeaways too

to be fair we can't knock bowen for lack of takeaways the talent on that secondary in tennesee isn't very good and byard was washed lately
I see this as the perfect compromise hiring, not everything exactly as we wanted but more fitting to what we have. As Dale Earnhardt used to say, everyone wants the #1 guy in their field but if they can't work together you aren't winning anything. The #2 and #3 guys all working together smoothly wins championships. Alex keep letting them fly, without the passion you're just another talking head and thats boring. Anthony, I have to call you on it, you have been saying our personnel fits a 4-3 better then a 3-4 yet with the combined front we have to do massive changes to support the 4-3 side of it

They wouldn't have hired bowen if he didn't have some say in the defense as well as play calling
IDC about 3rd choice. Seems solid play caller. Would love to see us stop the run.

Giants gave up 150plus in the first 5 games. Couldn’t stop 🛑 anything on the ground. Wink have a job yet?
I think Isaiah Simmons should def be resigned and used a lot more and in different positions on this defense next year! 🔥🔥 think he adds a lot versatility

As a long time Giant fan you can never get your hopes up with this team. Expect the worst and once in a great while maybe they'll surprise you. But that"s a rare moment. I expect the downward spiral will continue this coming season unless by some miracle they can get a franchise QB which is highly unlikely.
Wink be missed, but next best Option. B grade, under circumstances.. Daboll the problem.
This is the only hire they have, if you’re a new coach and you can go to a team with a new head coach you’ll have time to grow and going to a lame duck coach is not the best way to start a new endeavor. This is season Daboll is in the hot seat

Why do you think we've had to Settle for Shane Bowen from what's coming out it seems like they wanted to keep Jerome Henderson and Andre Patterson on the staff and the other Candidates didn't want to do that they wanted to bring in their own guys so why is everybody saying that we had to Settle

If your going to make a statement about " settling ", back it up with what you would have done , the ravens coach never called defensive plays..Even patrick graham's defense was better than Winks ..again out of the D coordinators that were available, who would you have hired considering Dabolls circumstances?
They should move Adoree Jackson to the outside and have someone else play the slot cause he got beat a lot this past season

Draft position doesn’t matter, a win is a win, it’s good for team morale, (all though 75 percent of the team is not going to be here next season). Oh did I forget to mention I love being a delusional Giants fan?!?!
Kingsbury blew the second half of seasons all the time. Their head coach is now 28-3. Redskins gonna Redskin. Hell, they haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 90s. Stop being dramatic.

He really does. The Giants have too many holes at too many positions to afford to lose a talent like McKinney. Unfortunately, every sign I see says Schoen is simply not willing to pay him what he should be able to get elsewhere. I hope I'm wrong, 'cause if Joe thinks Dane Belton can adequately replace McKinney, he's dead wrong.

Exactly how do you know they offered the others the job? Never been more than media speculation. Bowen has much better history than Wink. Our D mostly sucked. Bowen has called plays. Good for an Offensive HC. Don't just be another talking head parroting others.
