For more information, go to tryforthepeople.com/redlinereviews Are you guys excited for the upcoming Crosstrek Hybrid? Seems like Subaru hit a home run this time around!
This hybrid will definitely sell like hotcakes despite its horrid touchscreen climate controls and laggy response times. Next, Subaru needs to surprise us all with a Crosstrek WRX, the hatchback WRX we all need lol
*"as fast as can be made will be sold"* absolutely spot on. Really an amazing vehicle already but the center stack which is a great design is still lacking in autonomous driving feature sets so hopefully that is dramatically improved for the 2026 model year😊😊
Wow, it's finally here -- a Subaru hybrid! Let's see the new hybrid turbocharged Outback now. 260+ hp, lots of torque, all terrain tires... and you have one of the best non-hardcore off-road options to go to the campsite and absolutely perfect for those hunting and fishing trips. That should sell really well. Can't wait. Oh, BTW: 14:29 look at the person in the background realizing they are shooting the video. :)
Not only is the crosstrek more than enough for camping and fishing, but my cadillac ats has been all over the east coast for week long camping trips with 3 mountain bikes and tons of accompanying gear. Vehicles are way oversized these days.
I guess they want potential buyers of other hybrid subcompact SUVs to hold off and wait for this one. But I agree the 10 month wait is too long and the hype will die down
from press release "The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is powered by a next-generation Subaru series-parallel hybrid powertrain that integrates a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine and electric motors with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). "
yes, another youtuber uploaded his review first without blurring it and the screenshots are circulating. It looks freaking awesome. He re-uploaded with a black box covering that area lol. Im sure Subaru will be contacting him hahahah
The Subaru Crosstrek is super popular for a reason! It's got all-wheel drive, which is awesome for handling different terrains, plus a spacious interior for all your gear. The fuel efficiency is pretty solid too, making it great for road trips.
I noticed that you excluded the line”the door has a satisfying thunk” as we know Subarus do not have that as the doors seem flimsy and they lack heft and the solid feeling of others.
That blinking digital display hurts so bad for eyes. I also prefer buttons over a huge glaring infotainment screen that distracts especially at night. Everything else is great.
i understand that this thing does not use their traditional CVT but rather the toyota's two-motor THS e-CVT. But what about their mild-hybrid "e--boxer" as well as the PHEV? Do they use e-CVT or regular CVT?
SHESH!!! well Subbie stepping it up! honestly I Wish Subaru brought back their performance HATCHBACK! the GR Corolla is nice.. but not 50k nice for that 8 speed GR corolla Also really HAPPY they included 360 CAMERA! literally the BEST thing in terms of camera tech in cars, They just now need to incorporate the cameras for integrated dash cam performance
I just need Subaru to make that gorgeous bright Oasis Blue available on this new hybrid Crosstrek Hybrid. It's available on the Impreza and JDM Crosstrek. Apart from that, I'll still wait a few years for Subaru to replace the horrid laggy infotainment screen with the new infotainment spotted on the next generation Outback prototype that includes physical climate controls, hallelujah
Toyota/Subaru finally listened to the requests. Toyota/Subaru needs to stop crippling a product they make by using a real transmission with gear's and a faster processor, more ram, faster responsive screen in there infotainment system. Plus stop charging people for remote start. Subaru wants subscription for feature that used to be built into the cars. I would avoid Subaru/Toyota. Since there quality control is lacking.
Toyota still makes the most reliable vehicles. Subaru has good reliability. If you know how to negotiate, you can easily get the remote start for free. I managed to get a remote start for free on my Rav4.
Yes Subaru needs to work on a better infotainment but there is nothing wrong with a cvt because you’re average buyer could care less and probably doesn’t know the difference. Quality is very good from toyota Subaru and honda at the moment considering that most German and American cars rattle after a bunch of miles and will probably not go 150k without big issues these are just fine
As far as the infotainment goes, it’s made by Harmon - Subaru has virtually nothing to do with the infotainment unit - it gets contracted to Harmon and they are the ones who ‘work with’ Subaru on the design and what have you That said, they surely need to hold Harmon accountable if they feel like addressing the issues that everyone has seen with this terrible vertical center screen they’ve been using for the last 6 years - and since it pretty much has remained unchanged and will be the same for a lot of their models for the coming years, it wouldn’t seem that they’re concerned with ruining their contract and relationship with Harmon anytime soon….
Great review Redline. Two thumbs up just getting to the point. As well, our next vehicle winter of 2025 to order. That will be our 5th Subbie. We hope it achieves 43 city like the RAV4 hybrid. Thanks for time and effort, and getting to the point quickly.
@ …..I found out about this issue while watching videos on the BRZ/GR86. Both these cars that have the Subaru 2.5L and are plagued with this, especially if you track them. I believe there is a class action lawsuit against Subaru if I’m not mistaken. The lawsuit covers the 2022-23 but 2024 and ‘25 owners are also experiencing this RTV issue in their oil lines. Wasn’t the other engine’s problem oil leaks and/or head gaskets? Not sure, I’m not up to speed on all the Subaru engines…and their issues.
@@theredline When shopping for an awd compact hybrid, these two come to mind. And knowing the proactive awd system in the Subaru, vs the reactive system in the Prius? To me it's a clear choice. But I'm only one person, not the mass.. 😄
if its a cvt, I am not buying it. I am good. I'd rather get an EV if I want all electric. If I want a gas car, I want some life in the car. But I suspect this car is aimed at a different audience.
it's a toyota e-cvt with a planetary gear, no steel belt like a traditional subaru CVT. You're right, It does appeal to certain audiences. I have a traditional CVT Crosstrek, with the lineartronic CVT and it does make for a smooth highway commute and gets great gas mileage.

hey @theredline whats behind the blurred square? lol. the other color? Forester Hybrid? new Outback? give us the tea girllll!!
Video starts at 1:53
This hybrid will definitely sell like hotcakes despite its horrid touchscreen climate controls and laggy response times. Next, Subaru needs to surprise us all with a Crosstrek WRX, the hatchback WRX we all need lol
A Crosstrek WRX is basically the car I want but doesn’t exist lol
*"as fast as can be made will be sold"* absolutely spot on. Really an amazing vehicle already but the center stack which is a great design is still lacking in autonomous driving feature sets so hopefully that is dramatically improved for the 2026 model year😊😊
A hybrid crosstrek wrx wilderness would be delightful.
About time! They needed an outback and forester hybrid like yesterday
and in the Wilderness version.
Hybrid Wilderness and I'm in.

damned we are now in 2026, I slept for a year?
it releases Late Fall 2025 but they got to be a year ahead type of thing
Sofyan buckled to ad pressure 😭
Pushing $40K for a subcompact and they couldn’t even do a plug-in? Wack.
I don’t understand why they put out 2026 models this early
I guess they want potential buyers of other hybrid subcompact SUVs to hold off and wait for this one. But I agree the 10 month wait is too long and the hype will die down
Ay finally a Crosstrek with no cvt
it does have a CVT lol. at least according to the press release
Probably an eCVT.
from press release "The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is powered by a next-generation Subaru series-parallel hybrid powertrain that integrates a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine and electric motors with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). "
Needs panoramic sunroof and a HUD
About time they launched a hybrid! If this can get near 40 mpg, this should be a slam dunk.!
14:28 ah, my spirit animal makes its appearance
@8:31 New Wilderness (Forester?) in the background of many shots. Particularly when he’s doing the interior review.
yes, another youtuber uploaded his review first without blurring it and the screenshots are circulating. It looks freaking awesome. He re-uploaded with a black box covering that area lol. Im sure Subaru will be contacting him hahahah
Do the rear seats recline? Could start checking that on your vehicles

My mom has a 2019 Crosstrek, and when it has to climb a hill that engine sounds like it’s dying trying to run the RPMs. 😬😬
I noticed that you excluded the line”the door has a satisfying thunk” as we know Subarus do not have that as the doors seem flimsy and they lack heft and the solid feeling of others.
The 2024 doors are heavy. Makes the inside quieter
Not my wheelhouse at all. But I do enjoy your reviews so much.
That blinking digital display hurts so bad for eyes. I also prefer buttons over a huge glaring infotainment screen that distracts especially at night. Everything else is great.
That the new Outback that got blurred and slightly revealed when you moved your head?
Sofyan, Wouldn't car shoppers seeking the 'insurance' of Toyota hybrid components be better off buying a Toyota? 🤔
Sofyan, do you think Subaru should go out of business to allow Toyota to use their AWD systems in their cars?
Hey Sofyan, where’s the Crosstrek hybrid built? Japan I hope….
2025 just started LOL
So only the hybrid will get the digital gauge cluster? Non-hybrid 2026 Crosstreks will still have analog gauges?
i understand that this thing does not use their traditional CVT but rather the toyota's two-motor THS e-CVT. But what about their mild-hybrid "e--boxer" as well as the PHEV? Do they use e-CVT or regular CVT?
Subaru vehicles are so hard to wash because of how the car is designed.
What are those cars in the back? 9:25
Good eye, almost positive it is the new 2026 outback! More SUV looking now.
@@cedrickwilson1248yeah I think the white one might be the 26 forester wilderness. Red might be outback.
red is crossterk wilderness, nothing new. and the blurred box is the new Forester Wilderness
if the red was the new outback, it would be blurred also.
Does it come with a lithium battery?
Did you guys see the 26 outback ?
Malibu cali 🔥
Might have to trade in my 2023 Sport......
Did they say why no wilderness hybrid?
Malibu? Was this filmed before the fires?
Another spare tire bites the dust, I wonder if a wilderness trim will have a workaround?
Beautiful! The Crosstrek looks good too. I was waiting for the entire shoot to turn into a fireball. Stay safe!
Whole interior is made with tuna can recycled plastics yikes

HexAgonal, not hexOgonal, thanks!
With all these kids nowadays saying bro every 3 seconds, his mishap is not bad..
You mentioned the Subaru hybrid Forester, but where is your review?

Nobody’s really going to be driving a Crosstrek aggressively so the CVT is fine.
@@zarbon700very recently actually Toyota took the number one spot from CR
After two center touchscreen failures, no love for Subaru until they fix that god-awful Infotainment. Almost everything else is perfect in their cars.

I love your reviews but take a breath every once in a while so our brains can keep up with the data dump.
Dude you're looking good. keep doing what your doing.
Making RUclips videos? lol
I've never been a fan of Subaru and their styling at all. But it's for a certain demographic of people. Just won't see any Subarus in my hood..lol.
Great reviews as usual. As far as the car...yawn.
Finally! But what about hybrid wilderness?
That's what we were asking for too!
Awesome they are using their own boxer engine and awd system to make it their own unique hybrid!
Another car using Toyota hybrid tech to help reduce Toyota hybrid markups.
Will this car have the RTV issue that Subaru’s have been experiencing of late?
Ummm that was mostly on WRX using the 2.4....so why would this with the 2.5 have issues?? Maybe research what you're talking about

Hot Damn!! Take my money!!
I like what I’m seeing with the directions Subaru is heading…
Terrible car reviewer, can you talk any faster
Subarus are so hideous

So basically, a better Prius.. Thanks Sofyan.
We doubt very little consumers will actually cross shop a Crosstrek with the Prius, but we could see both vehicles in the household!
