HAHAA! I just had to take out the airbag, then the Cruise Control sits there on it's own "jock", ready to change from the old one. Job done, and tested, works perfect. Thank you for your help!!
I just bought one from ebay with £49 ,all i have done was to take the old one off and put the new second hand part in!No computers no nothing ,it works like a dream! The only hard time i had was those 2 nuts at the back! One of them i managed to do it with a spaner and the other one only by hand :)

@@cristibabyface nice one! Yeah the unit usually is around 450... Then fit and Bla Bla... But like you said if doing yourself then better get second hand one and job done!

Will I need to get under the car for this job or can all be done from inside? (Steering module conked out, told new part is £960 plus fitting but no parts available anyway so best to scrap car - not on my watch! )

Hi I've just bought a 2nd hand one. But on the top where your one shows 4 bolted sticking up. Mine only has the 2 on the right. Does this matter or can the ones in the old unit be used?
@@bigmik3566 if you talking about the ones I'm showing at 5.26 in this video then you can't use the old ones .. that means that someone has broken them off when undoing it and that's no good as it will be dangerous and insecure without them in there unfortunately
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne Hey...thanks for the reply 😎 This car was fine until it was left for a couple of weeks. Flat battery so got AA to look. They jump pack started it but said battery was done. I've been told that if you get the same code one it's not a problem. I've done quiet few and never had to code it... All you have to make sure is that the steering is straight and that you put the uni joint how it was and etc... Then just clear all the fault codes once it's plugged in.
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne Hi Alex - tell me more about the uni joint bit... thinking of doing mine myself and have heard there was something to watch out for and this sounds like it!
@@PaulKurnyta hello mate. Yes have a look at the joint on the new one and the angle it is at... Try and lock steering to that similar angle so when you connect new one to the steering rack you don't have to turn wheels for it to fit. Because there is only one angle that it fits.
This one didn't need to be coded. I'm not 💯 sure... As some might be. I've ordered with the part number on the old one and they said it's just plug in and delete codes and that's it. Worked for me

Sorry unfortunately i can't get hold of one
Will a left hand fit right r They interchangeable can swop parts over to make fitt thank you

It can be your steering column motor giving up to be honest. You need to plug in to it and get some codes. Unless you got some suspension issue
Hi. How do you get the lock box off? The small metal box that has one electric plug going into it.
Will I need to get under the car for this job or can all be done from inside? (Steering module conked out, told new part is £960 plus fitting but no parts available anyway so best to scrap car - not on my watch! )

I'm sorry buddy but I honestly can't remember now. It's been quiet a while ago. I think I might of mentioned it in the video I would think
hi do you have to do any of that to change the steering rack please?
No.... but its also a big job.
Awesome tutorial. One question. Do i have to read out the values and reprogram the new unit? Or is it just to replace it and drive?
Thank you. In my case I've done 3 cars and as long as its the correct part number you just replace it 😀 then clear the codes and all good

That's not good mate. You need it to have all 4 of them. Is not it's not supported properly
Do you remember what caused the electric column to fail? What code did you get?
first sometimes it gets hard on steering then it comes up with warning light and fault codes usually say that its steering system fault.
