      i own an oculus rift and i would definately say yes.
      If you are that type of guy who only likes playing AAA Games and games with big stories i would say no because of the lack there of.
      If you like playing casual type games then definately yes. Its just an awesome feeling and i get a smile on my face everytime i start the rift.

    I've had the oculus and touch controllers for about half a year - everyone who's tried it has been blown away. I would say superhot and Robo Recall are the most incredible games out right now, really immersive and you completely forget about the real world. 10/10 would recommend.

      bobagoncheese you are using 2 sensors. I have some problems. When i turn around they dont track anymore and then you get a weard game glitch...

    • @mattsmachines
      @mattsmachines 7 лет назад +3

      I use two sensors and it works ok, there are some "dead spots" when you turn around but thats because your body blocks the sensor from tracking you. I'm most likely going to buy a third sensor so that I can place it behind me in my play area in order to fix this problem.

      I have had my Rift for one year now, and I can definitely say that VR is worth it. Sure, there are many short and boring VR games out there (mostly by indie devs), but when you are finding the good ones, the hours of fun never ends. There are coming more and more AAA games for the Rift right now and the library has become pretty big. The latest game which made me hooked was Onward. To be able to reload, aim, changing mag with your own hands feel amazing compared to "mouse shooters". Same with your movement, no buttons to press, if you want to crouch, then crouch with your own body. There are also many breathtaking 360 videos out there, which make you wish that there will come more 360 movies in the future.

    I got my Rift during the Summer of Rift promotion when it was $400, and boy do I love it. The touch controllers are phenomenally comfortable, and I like how they have actual analog sticks and the AB/XY buttons, compared to the clicky touch pads on the Vive controllers. I guess the Vive controllers have better tracking, but I haven't had any issue with tracking on the Rift.
    Honestly though, I don't think you'd really be disappointed by either VR option unless you have an issue with one's set of controllers or exclusive games. However, the Rift may be a better buy if you don't have a lot of space to work with, and the Vive is probably the better option if you do have a lot of room.

    Consumer VR headsets did exist previously, but not much to write home about, the dream died for me in the late 90's. Luckily it got a second chance, and I dove in with the Rift Kickstarter back in 2012. VR has been my main hobby since then, and even if people new to the scene are wondering why not more people are excited about it, to me it's more alive than ever. Gone are the days of random demos to download, where I tried _everything_ and now I have 60+ titles on my drive I haven't even tried yet. Quality of software is still an issue, and the price of hardware is creeping closer to main stream viability, but there is still a while to go until we have mass market appeal. That said, I'm super happy with the state of VR now, room-scale + motion controllers was all I could wish for, and I will enjoy it for however long it lasts, hopefully it sticks.

  • @craig1287
    @craig1287 7 лет назад

    I own both the Rift/Touch and the Vive, they're both quality devices that give a great VR experience, but the overall experience is best on the Vive due to the full adoption of room-scale VR and 360 degree gaming. The Rift and touch are better hardware, the Rift weighs less and fits better and the Touch controllers are amazing, but the Lighthouse sensor technilogy that the Vive, and soon other SteamVR HMDs, uses is a far better tracking tech, and that's what matters most. For the price though, the Oculus offering is a fantastic deal. Can't go wrong with either, but if you want the best overall, then go with the Vive.

    +Austin Evans The All-In-One VR headsets are good. However, the price of them are way too high. An Oculus Rift goes for $499 USD. There are less expensive headsets, that are smartphone driven, that are equally good. For example, Freefly and Freefly Beyond. Freefly VR comes with a Bluetooth Controller, while the Freefly Beyond has Crossfire Triggers. Freefly starts at $39.99 USD. This is only one of many I have. Look into this and who knows? You could make a comparison video.
