I Forced Mathematical Constants to Play Mario Party
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the channel @winningsequence where they're using Pi to play Pokemon, but with each individual digit of Pi mapping to a specific input, with the goal of trying to find out if there's a sequence of numbers that will allow Pi to beat the game.
This gave me an idea, and with some help from @KNfLrPn , we not only were able to create our own version of this for Mario Party using the SwiCC, but also allowed for other numbers to compete alongside them, as well as my Twitch Chat.
Today we will finally answer the question: Which number is the best at Mario Party?
Chat's full number + breakdown of each section: github.com/ray...

Ok thank
Not that you read but Π is a function whereas π is a constant.
you should do this again but have that chat number from this video be an AI to see if chat can beat themselves.

Twitch chat also spammed emotes a lot.

In my eyes, the turn order was perfect. Pi is most popular, phi is less popular, most people who do not have much interest in math do not care about e, and twitch chat is twitch chat.
Fr idk what e even is but I’ve heard of pi a million times
e is Euler's number/Napier's constant and is used in a lot of math, but mostly graphs.
@@DrippycatBigmoney69e is extremely important number, especially when talking about logarithms or compounding interests. The natural logarithm is a logarithm with base e, important enough for it to get its own symbol (ln). And in calculus, the derivative of ln(x) is 1/x (which means the integral of 1/x is ln(x))and the derivative of e^x is e^x. So it's quite important for the field of calculus.
@@user-ky3of8ng6t yeah but for the average person, no
e Is One of the most important numbers, on par with pi, and in fact they are closely related. So it's pretty alt that it's Rosalina and the and it got the win
Nice thumbnail: Yoshi is counting, Waluigi is calculating the volume of each Toad's head, and Rosalina is modeling Toad population growth. Love it.
Oh hey, the thumbnail was updated so that the symbol π was replaced by the decimal expansion of π. Cool.
Toad is Jacksfilms according to π!Waluigi, apparently
I’d be fascinated to see if you added a 4th numerical constant (maybe sqrt(2)) and then ran this scenario 100 times if there is a statistically “stronger” mario party constant.
Would it necessarily start from the 1st digit every time?
How about Tau
@@PsychoticSonjano?
@@PsychoticSonja It'd make more sense that way

@@nicolasn12Pi is not infinite in the way of big number, but its decimals goes forever

13:09 It makes me irrationally happy that π got a score of π radians.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, let me explain. You may know about measuring angles in degrees, where a full revolution-one turn-is 360 degrees, written 360°. A half-turn is 180°, a quarter-turn is 90°, and so on. But mathematicians have found another way of measuring angles that is often far nicer for doing math, particularly for calculus and complex numbers: radians.
To understand radians, we need to start with a circle. (For my purposes, the inside region doesn't count as part of the circle. That region is called a disk, for those curious.) Draw a line segment from the center of the circle to a point on the circle; the length of this line segment is the circle's radius. From there, draw a curve along the circle for a distance of one radius-length, then draw back to the center of the circle. The angle you form at the center is 1 radian, which is about 57°.
If you repeat this process, except you draw 2 radius-lengths along the circle this time, the angle you get is 2 radians. If you use 3 radius-lengths, the angle is 3 radians. So what if you go all the way around the circle, for its entire circumference? How many radians do you get?
Well, that's the same as asking how many times the radius fits into the circumference. In other words, if you take the circumference of the circle divided by the radius, what number do you get? The answer is about 6.28, and we have a special name for this number: τ, the Greek letter tau. So 360°, one turn, is τ radians. 180°, a half-turn, is τ/2 radians. 90°, a quarter-turn, is τ/4 radians. If you have just 1 degree, 1/360 of a turn, that's τ/360 radians.
You may ask, "Wait, isn't τ just 2π?" Yes, yes it is. A circle's diameter is the distance between two points on the circle opposite from each other; π is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, about 3.14. However, as shown earlier, τ is very nice for working with radians. In fact, τ is nice for lots of other circle-related things, too. This comment is long enough as it is, though, so I won't get into all of it; for now, let's return to the point.
180° is τ/2 radians. Since τ is 2π, that means that π is τ/2, so 180° is π radians. Thus, the player π got a score of π radians in the Snow Whirled minigame in the Mario Party Superstars mathematical constant showdown.
...
(τ probably would've gotten double that, which is why I argue that it would've easily won the whole game.)
irrationally. Beautiful
And you think π didn't do it intentionally?, he is just remembering his friends
"irrationally"
The best thing to come out of this is that we have a portrait of Euler as a chat emote

Erm, E's a letter 🤓
@@damri_notfound Erm, actually, in mathematics useful, hard or impossible to directly write out numbers are often represented with specific letters, commonly from the Greek alphabet. Since there is a consensus among mathematicians to use "e" to refer to the Euler's constant, the base of natural logarithms, it is indeed a number.🤓

Same. Chat isn't even a mathematical constant, and you can tell they are there for filler. Ray should have used Tau or a different constant, I would have even been fine with an easy cpu.

Can't trust these numbers
Always making irrational desicions
e is too powerful, it has the power of the alphabet AND numbers
Legend has it that Waluigi is still studying the map.
2:42 What might be even more interesting is if you combined this with a little bit of machine learning, regardless of whether you use M.E.N.A.C.E or neural networks the basic idea is the same, you'd have each ai be limited to looking at the game state alongside the next few digits of its given number, it will have to choose between one of its next digits, this gives some level of game making decision to the numbers but still keeps things true to form since the ai will always have to go forwards through the number never backwards.

Slope of e to the x, is e to the x.
Inverse slope of e to the x, is e to the x. Deserves the recognition
Damn you Euler!!!

8:27 E saying “Whaaat?!” When they won us crazy
oh boy, i cant wait for oneycomb havoc
Without the h my brain just went "1ycomb havoc"
Is Oneycomb Havoc one of the games them "oneyplays" folks I've heard about play?
I was a math major in college. "Phi" is not pronounced like the second syllable in "sci-fi", as it is throughout this video. Instead, it's said like "fee".
I think Pi is also pronounced pee in Greek but nobody says that
I got so stoked when I heard phi was a contender
Honestly in a way it would have been cool to just have the constants duke it out with maybe one extra (sqrt(2)?). In theory the result should be the same every time in a tas input kinda way so we could 'objectively' see what the best constant is.
Now I’m frustrated that you didn’t show the amount of used stickers
Imagine sitting down at the dinner table, your mom asking why you’re late and you say, “I was playing Mario Party against mathematical constants” 😂😂😂
9:22 Hi, me! 👋🏻🙂

20 is my favorite mathematical constant
Dude this match was hilarious 😂
19:48 hi rays!
17:20 ofc he is, Mario always stealin 💩 -.-
I made a math problem based on the thumbnail:
The thumbnail shows all the Toads in a Toad population at the current time. A Toad’s pileus, or cap, can be well-approximated by an ellipsoid (“deformed ball”) with a width and depth of 50 cm and a height of 40 cm. The density of the pileus is approximately 0.3 g/cm^3.
The Toad population grows exponentially, such that at each time, the total pileus mass in the population is double what it was 40 years ago. At the current time, what is the best constant approximation for the rate of change of pileus mass in the Toad population? Answer in grams per year.
You treat ur twitch chat way to well, dougdoug would have wanted his to lose
17:57 shout out to a random guy called "bOssguy300"
Im assuming e is Natural Log(ln) correctect? Like ln(e^x)=1 ?
yes but that's equal to x
You mean e is the base of the natural logarithm, and ln(e^x) = x.
Yep, though I mainly know it for its properties in calculus - e^x’s derivative is itself.
