Minecraft has been making series’s on their RUclips channel, and recently the last episode of their “Secrets of Minecraft” series, however there’s some stuff in the video that people have pointed out to be a bit suspicious. At the beginning of the video, a character named Jonathan is shown showing a feature that will “change Minecraft forever”. Afterwards, one of the two hosts of the show, who in the previous episode was shown the “future of Minecraft”, is trying to say what the feature is, and eventually reveals that they’re adding “Mobbo” to the game, who was a character that was originally shown in the “How we Make Minecraft” series, who’s whole point was that he defyed all of Mojang’s rules when adding a mob to the game. He says that it was a desperate attempt to boost sales, and that it will ruin the game forever. After the two hosts see Jonathan adding Mobbo to the game, the same host from before mentions that he “warned everyone about this two years ago.” Many people in the comments see this video as a “cry of help” from Mojang, and that Jonathan represents Microsoft and Mobbo represents the chat reporting feature. This is further solidified by the fact that “two years ago” was also when the account migration was announced. I don’t have a specific view on this, nor do I think it's 100% true, it's just something I wanted to point out.
Sounds "Likely" but you think a worker could use a friend laptop, make a "Not calling fooking stupid for not knowing insider baseball" post on Reddit or 4chin. Is it really that hard?
@@watersnortmoment3734 He's trying to say that one of the Mojang employees could leak everything going on anonymously. Yeah this reads poorly but it's still comprehensible
I think it's likely that this is a combination of microsoft and mojang's fault, although one thing is certain: this is not the fault of the developers, and whoever made this decision has set the devs up to take the blame. As if they didn't have enough to deal with already.
@@mellohi6175 you know what's painful? We need to boycott Microsoft, but any time anyone mentions that everyone’s like “how they’re too big?” Well not they are not, look at Budweiser and target, they lost billions due to the boycotts which are still continuing mind you, if Microsoft were to lose a few million or even a billion they wouldn’t care they’d keep doing what they’re doing, but if we kept up a boycott for long enough we could severely damage their income and they’d have to make a change, or Minecraft would simply be a massive hole in their pocket, I believe a profitable Minecraft is a dying Minecraft, so let’s make it not so profitable for them anymore, delete Minecraft make videos comment as much as possible and stop buying marketplace items and any new releases of any games or products related to Minecraft, we all love Minecraft but like a drug addicted family member, it needs some tough love before it falls deeper into its hole. Hell I might go as far as to invest in Linux and get rid of windows.
My biggest fear with the updates they seem to be peddling is that they’re going to try and phase out the ability to access older versions in Java. I’m a modded player and almost only play modded Minecraft. So with the marketplace in bedrock I’m really worried they’re gonna phase out the older versions so they can introduce a marketplace system and destroy the modding community. I could see them arguing something like “we’re phasing out the old versions so because of the moderation and player reporting system” just to introduce the marketplace to Java the next update.
@@f1reflam3 Imo the worst thing would be make the Mods like "DLC" but it will be buggy, annoying and say you dont like Thermal Expansion, you are forced to buy iy to see if you like it or not
There is zero chance of that happening even if Mojang wanted to, most of the version JARs have been extensively archived and can continue to be archived even without Mojang's consent.

I remember playing Pocket Edition very soon after release, probably some time in 2011 or 2012. TNT didn't even work, survival wasn't in the game, and the creative inventory was like 1 page with barely any scroll. It was barebones, yet still enjoyable and incredibly nostalgic now. I haven't really touched it since Bedrock came out, things went downhill pretty fast even if the game got much more fleshed out. Likewise, I played Java since 2013, starting in 1.5. I've enjoyed the game off and on since then, but I stopped after the account migration and recent events only solidified this position. Its just not the same anymore, with a clear corporate vibe cropping up that just erodes what makes Minecraft so great.
@@MrExdous69 Okay but the game *remained* pretty damn good up until recently. Even 1.17 and 1.18, while underwhelming in scope, were still quite playable and had some decent new content that fit the Minecraft vibe. I wasn't terribly pleased with the new 1.18 music but a simple resource pack dealt with that. The more recent events are in a whole other category however. Minecraft has taken a serious and sudden change of course (well, mostly sudden, there were warning signs like the whole debacle about sharks and dolphins, mob votes, ditching C418 over licensing, and especially how they've treated Bugrock edition). You clearly didn't read or understand the whole comment - I have still enjoyed the game up until these problems started to crop up and mar the experience, and I may still occasionally hop on older versions in singleplayer until that gets boring.
@@StuffandThings_ everyone is just blowing this whole thing out of proportion. A chat reporting system! What ever will I do? Don’t be a prick and it won’t effect you in the slightest. And I know all about bedrock since it’s the only version I play since I’m a console player
@@MrExdous69 It will affect _everyone,_ since now we have to constantly worry if someone might try to troll or take something woefully out of context, banning us from the entirety of multiplayer. Socialization, a core aspect of multiplayer, is now crippled. Java since the beginning was player-run, where Mojang put their trust in the players and the servers to moderate as they pleased. There were communities for everyone, some curated more than others, and it was up to players to chose and be mindful of their environment. The game has been fundamentally altered in a way that flies directly in the face of what it always stood for - a decentralized, player driven experience made up of various communities with various standards and various ways of experiencing the game. Mojang is now forcing their own moderation on everybody with little regard for nuance. Should there have been some sort of multiplayer moderation tool baked into the base game? Yes, of course. But it should have been server-side and optional, like most moderation tools already used, and not this monstrosity. I take it you either don't care, or pretend that this will be a good system because it will ""protect"" people who were already protected by server moderation. Java players have generally been quite okay with most updates, this is by far the most riled up they have been and for good reason. Minecraft was great, but it seems that they now want to turn it into a heavily curated marketing tool.

@@phoenixthewolf6301 They can't. Java Edition is basically open-source at this point. It is a very open platform, as it can be perfectly decompiled easily. It means that if they ever wanted to stop mods, they would basically have to rewrite the whole game or kill Java entirely. Even then, it is still possible to decompile and mod Bedrock, although way harder due to DRM. Even if they were to block modding somehow, people would just switch to older versions, even if they have to pirate it (i know i would). It's simply too late at this point in time to block modding. Finally, nobody at Mojang seems against mod devs. I mean Kingbdogz is one of the aether devs after all, they added features like horses with the help of modders in the past, and they even release official deobfuscation maps to make projects like Forge and Fabric easier to update.
Genuinely, I think my biggest problem with the game as it stands now, is that it doesn't have the same atmosphere that it did before, sure some of this may be due to getting older, but I feel like a lot of the magic the game orignally had: "the fear of the night, the prolonged midgame, the fun playing basic but unique maps, has ben all but lost. And (like I said) some of this is definately me getting older, but at the same time it seems like microsoft wants to comlpetely burry that part of minecraft's history, they want to completely change the textures, add more endgame content to make people even more overpowered and less afraid of the night, etc. A large part of the fun that I had orignally with minecraft was the process of going from naked dude in the middle of the woods to owner of a castle, but it seems like that process has been completly overwritten in newer versions, now you can just walk into a village and get basic iron tools, then find a shipwreak and start getting diamonds. A lot of the progression and the work that you do while progessing was taken away, which is fun for some people but it basically leaves me trying to find "vanilla" modpacks that make the game harder and playing the older versions.
To me, Minecraft is more about collecting resources building things to your liking, than surviving any danger. I appreciate quality of life things in the late game, though it would be nice if there were more features for our early, game loving friends, like a revamp of difficulty.
@@miimiiandco yeah, I think that's the big thing about Minecraft, it caters in some way to everyone, or at least it's meant to. What I may not like about the game is exactly what someone else might love about it. But there is one design philosophy that I've noticed more recently Minecraft has drifted away from, that I believe will improve the fun on both sides of the coin. Balance, a lot of the game has more recently been focused on an almost power trip style gameplay loop where the options open to the player allow them to conquer the world and be safe from any reasonable danger in mere minutes. That's not to say that danger is the most important element of Minecraft, I still do believe that the most integral aspect is the building and the taming of the world, but when that task is so easy to complete that the main problem facing me every time I play is where I'm going to put ultra megabase 3006; I think there is a problem. The achievements made in Minecraft feel much more real (at least to me) when they were hard won achievements, I don't have fun playing a game where everything is handed to me I enjoy carving out my niche in a world through my own work. And maybe we differ in that thought process, but that's why there are multiple difficulty options. Essentially all this is to say, I agree with you, there needs to be some rework of difficulty, and It can't just be giving zombies some more health and power, it has to be a real tangible effect that forces you to change how you approach the game.
Just disable structures. Then you have the "old" minecraft with nothing in the world. Or just don't go to the village or shipwreck if you think that's cheating or to easy.
@@max5183 if I turn off structures I'm going to be missing out on quite a bit of the game, and "just don't go to shipwrecks" doesn't fix the fundemental problem with the current way the game is balanced. My argument was that the fall of Minecraft is the loss of "hard won" battles, essentially that the midgame and early game content is being ignored in favor of late game content. That favoritism (at least to me) makes the late game feel cheap and unsatisfying. And because of the small amount of content being added specifically for the midgame and early game, just not going to shipwrecks is like a band-aid on an amputation it doesnt fix the fundemental problem, that after a while going through the same motions over and over again starts to get boring.
Just to clarify, the "pointless warning popups" are actually about the serious log4j exploit that happened a while ago. Since the older versions of minecraft don't have a fix for the log4j exploit, the only way to stop the log4j exploit on older versions is for the owners of the server you are on to launch the server using a line of code that looks something like this: "NoFormatMsgLookups=true" I'm pretty sure this is the only time people really used this for fixing that exploit. This applies to not only minecraft, but things like large social companies like discord. I'm reasonable sure that most of the companies fixed this by now, but since mojang doesn't want to go through each and every version of minecraft available to players and adding a fix to the apache log4j issue, they just made that warning. I think that this is kinda lazy of mojang to basically give away thousands of accounts to malicious coders because they couldn't just put that code into each and every version of minecraft. That last part about mojang being lazy is not fully backed up, but I have my sources on the rest of those things
May I point out microsoft ended legacy edition and now played minecraft on console is way worse, I tried playing bedrock console split screen yesterday and it was stupid how bad it was, on legacy it was very good, but then microsoft discontinued it.
They killed an entire version the legacy Console edition which are by far the best versions of Minecraft for console players far far better than the Bedrock editions on the various consoles. They made Bedrock unplayable for a long time on Xbox, they didn’t allow some versions of the legacy console editions to get the final update, they clearly exploit the employees and now they’ve added essentially the worst censorship that I’ve seen in a game for ages. Yes absolutely yes Microsoft are ruining it.
@Serbian Mapper [DGLATC] I used to play it more often too but sadly my other friends no longer have that version and I am the only one that does and yeah it was a way better version
mojang employees have debunked the idea that this is microsoft's doing and instead this was mojang's decision with microsoft providing the resources to go through with it
I have no doubts that Microsoft has influenced this idea, though. Their ultimate goal is to sterilize and corporatize the game. Since day 1 of the Microsoft acquisition, they've been planning to completely strip Minecraft of its indie game vibe, because an indie game just isn't good for corporate business. Sure, Mojang is implementing everything, but without a doubt what we're seeing now is the result of Microsoft executing their master plan.
Just because Mojang responded and said the feature was their fault doesn't actually mean it's true. They were trying to protect any single person from being blamed and decided to take the hit because Microsoft certainly wasn't going to. It's also possible that Microsoft told them to address it. But I do agree that putting it all on Microsoft ignores that almost definitely Mojang DID have at least some part to play in this feature and probably a bigger part than most are willing to admit it seems...
Microsoft started ruining Minecraft when they changed the display name of Pocket Edition to just Minecraft, and then changed real Minecraft to Minecraft: "Java Edition." And that will forever be the biggest insult to this game in my eyes, still hate that change. Really the worst change to any game you could make is corporatization. I grew up with Minecraft, played it thousands of hours for 6+ years, it's been sad watching not only myself drift away from the game, but also the small indie-game freshness, air of mystery, and the old community surrounding all of it.
the thing is microsoft doesnt have too much of a say in mojang java (mojang stockholm). while mojang bedrock (mojang us) is mained by Microsoft. I'm just hopefull that Microsoft doesn't go after mojang stockholm or if it does then mojang can remove themselves form Microsoft and be an independent dev with lady agnis (idk how to spell her name) at the head. what she has done for both the community and the devs is amazing and I feel her anxiety every time an update comes out because this is a game that I love and I know anxiety for a release can lead to full cancelation of any new updates.
Up until this Orwellian situation, I never really considered leaving, but I now find myself looking at Minetest and how to get it to the point that using it will suffice.

I think Microsoft implemented the chat filter as a precautionary measure due to COPPA. If they lose COPPA protection Minecraft would be deemed unsafe for childern and that would cause a lot of problems. RUclips had this exact problem and Roblox gets mass sues bc of it, so i can see why they would think its a good idea to implement it.
COPPA? What do privacy laws have to do with this? What do you even mean with "COPPA protection"? Also, deeming something unsafe for kids means it allows tracking and targeted advertising, which is more profitable. Although that's not relevant in this case, companies don't want their stuff to be considered for children as it will bring in way less ad money. It's not relevant to minecraft at all, afaik it doesn't contain any advertising at all, unless they're fucking up bedrock really badly.

Notch is a good man (we all are imperfect: no man is without sin). It is evident if you have been paying attention and have played Minecraft for a long time.
What I am afraid of is that eventually they'll ban any mods that try to tamper with the "safety" features like the chat reporting and there would be no way around this nightmare.
I've been playing bedrock for years now and I've always identified myself as a small redstone builder. The biggest problem I've seen with bedrock so far is that redstone in a greater scale is almost impossible to make. It isn't as simplistic as in java because of the programming. Slime elevators, huge piston doors or complex circuits for chronometers, calculators and others are just unimaginable. It's also really difficult to make compact circuits.
I think the main issue with Bedrock is the randomness when it comes to certain circuits. I can see Bedrock Redstone being as good as Java Redstone if people actually tried to learn it.
I think a big part of the controversy, besides alarmism, is because Minecraft has exhibited classic corporate stubbornness and telling fans with suggestions to improve player protection systems that their ideas will never be implemented, and even small private servers with mods or plugins to disable chat report that their existence is considered illicit now. It’s perfectly possible to go have both child safety features and have players enjoy the game without fearing a wrongful banhammer, but for whatever reason the company just does not want to do that.
I think Microsoft is ruining only the Java Edition so people are forced to migrate to the Bedrock Edition so we can be forced to perches monetized reskinned mods, skins, and textures and play on a extremely buggy and terrible connection set up version.
Sadly bedrocks condition is arguably worse with a full censorship and being able to be banned from singleplayer, with even a tremendous amount of bugs that mojang just doesn't seem keen on fixing, which is disappointing as it has soo much potential if only it was more focused on, also as for the marketplace, yes its terrible but thats why u can get addons for free like java
"MC Java. MCPE. MC Legacy Edition. MC Pi Edition. Long ago, the four games lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Microsoft nation attacked."
Honestly, I hate almost everything that got changed after 1.8, so many items, blocks and mobs just feel like useless bloat and the marketing is extremely targeted to young children only. Where is the creativity when you just have one block for each specific role? Now the game just feels extremely modded to me even in vanilla, and that is really not what I want.
Great vid! The marketplace is good. As a concept. You will get some great additions to the game impossible otherwise. However, it was ruined by Minecoins. What even are they? Robux 2.0? They can’t be, since from what I’ve heard, people on Roblox may be impressed by your skin. If you pay using Microsoft bought currency, the creators of the content may get nothing! The game is so expensive, affordable, yes, but not if everything you have is reset and you have to buy it ALL again.
From what Microsoft has said is the creators do get the "majority" of the revenue, but I haven't verified that. There's a big problem with people stealing work from others and making money off the market place though, Aether for instance.
They are trying to sell the game to more parents with kids They cant sell the game again if u bought it alrdy And if u aint dumb u wont touch the marketplace (cuz u wud just play java edition, skins, maps, textures r free here after all) So they ignore the community completely becuz they arent trying to appeal to u They think they can continue to sell minecraft even if the player base is dead as long as they find a way to sell to parents
Exactly. I bought the game back before it blew up, when Notch still said he was planning to open source it. From my viewpoint I was giving money to a small indie dev for a passion project. At the time I was a poor student and I pirated most of my games, so me giving money was a huge deal. Now Notch has sold the game to Microsoft, and Microsoft has taken away my ability to play the game I paid for, unless I migrate my account. It's honestly a huge betrayal by Notch of all the people who made it possible for him to get where he is.
@@seeibe I feel u Buying the game as a student with no actual income was a big deal and a statement Though I wouldnt say Notch betrayed us After all, it was an opportunity to earn an amount of money that would take many lifetimes to earn, it was the fruit of his success I'd say it is Microsoft who betrayed him and us by taking the game to hell
After a lot of negativity about these updates, it's great to hear the positive come out again. We as humans tend to forget that they are humans just like us.
I feel like the migration has decreased the amount of players that used to play java, which is really sad. Not only that, but i heard that you can get banned for just saying, "You suck!" Due to them either forgetting their password, or just not understanding the instructions. I hate the migration idea, I had to get one of my friends to help me because i forgot my minecraft password. Also it's not like you have a choice not to migrate, according to Microsoft you HAVE to migrate your account in order to keep playing minecraft. I think that's just stupid! I think if they wouldn't have added a migration requirement, there would be a lot more players playing java. I can see why a lot of people are switching to bedrock.

But what can I expect from an Lame American , with stupid state rules, brain wash because of TikToks .
hopefully them putting a warning label for servers that have a plugin or mod that makes player reporting not possible is all that they do, cause that means it's not their fault you are playing a server you are "exposed" on. so they cant get sued. What I worry about is they start making mods bannable (somehow)
i do believe they are trying to kill off java. think about it, people can make custom skins, maps, and mods, all for free. having everything on bedrock means complete control over the in game market
People can do that on bedrock for free too. Having a world download or add on cost minecoins is completely upto the creator, they choose to do it. You can make custom maps and skins or bedrock too
I just play single player and I'm pissed that with the 1.19.2 Java update I've yet to find a single abandoned mine. I used to love exploring them and getting lost in endless tunnels, now all I ever find our large caverns and crevices with a normal amount of coal and a smattering of iron. This blows.
Meanwhile terraria actually stopped having updates and handed the reigns to the community effectively terraria had the better ending minecraft became like the simpsons. A zombie of it's former self essentially forever milked for money until it stops producing milk.
The main reason I prefer java is the parity issues. I do like bedrock, I do like some of the things it has that are different, but I feel java works better, there's more mod access, it doesn't have as many of the game-breaking bugs, and you can actually explore all of the millions of blocks of your worlds. That's something I actively enjoy, trying to get as far away from my spawn as possible, sometimes using nether travel to help. Bedrock gets buggy at 1mil blocks and just gets progressively worse. I kinda just, wish they never separated the two :/
As a bedrock player I’m jelly from all what y’all have with Java, it’s like (in my opinion) they treat Java like royalty giving them options and freedom, but on bedrock we are limited to a crappy cash grab marketplace, I feel like they need to just let Java be the main game, or give bedrock some features like hardcore.
While it may appear we can't convince Microsoft to take back the chat report feature, there are still things we can do to circumvent it. 1. Don't use chat 2. Use the No Chat Reports mod and pray the server you try to connect to won't enforce secure chat (which servers have it default to true, but then again no one likes chat reporting in the first place) 3. Don't update to 1.19 or beyond. 4. Don't play multiplayer or Realms at all. We can still fight back; we have some control.
this is a player who thinks positively like me, what's the big deal , the same thing with the marketplace if you look for positive stuff you will find, but still I want to see how smart you are, I haven't found a way to accept render dragon or to see any meaning in it, what should I do in such situations if I want to enjoy the old shaders. another thing I don't understand is why there are so many tributes for Technoblade but for Bashurverse there is almost none .
I remember a year or two ago I was just scrolling through RUclips when I saw this badboyhalo video where he basically just ranted about how Microsoft was ruining Minecraft little by little in order to appeal to children. At the time I was definitely doubting that Microsoft would ever go out of their way to ruin a game just for more money, but now I see he was absolutely right
exactly what I was thinking. Microsoft may have added some stupid stuff, but they are not trying to kill Minecraft. And the game isn't going to die because of reporting. We have plugins and mods to help with the reporting system already, and if worse comes to worse; Don't chat. Its not that the problem isn't bad, its that the community is blowing up the problem beyond what it should be.
the issue is that, many people DO chat, and chat is a very useful tool. being banned from the entirety of multiplayer permenantly for saying smth stupid is rediculous, and better yet, server moderation EXISTS ALREADY. this is completely unnecessary and will harm the game moving forward, even if it does get removed as mojang has lost a lot of their reputation, moreso than when they announced 1.19 to be a much, much smaller update than promised
no, the problem is people are becoming way too used to restricted freedom of speech and other stuff, it's genuinely alarming how bad it's getting you bought a game, you should be able to talk shit with your friends in a server
I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to disagree with your point on directing the hate at Mojang. They are just as much as responsible for adding this change as Microsoft are, and from what I heard, they were totally okay with adding this feature, with no disputes whatsoever. If they really were innocent, they would've made at the very least a bit more of an uproar, and they wouldn't have outright ignored us for the past week or so. On top of that, there has been a definitive whistleblow that someone within the minecraft community has been in kahoots with Mojang and has used their position of power to force this change. Unfortunately, the person that pointed this out has aided them in their escape by not telling us who they are. If it is a single person behind this change, then this is one of the few times a witch-hunt would be an appropiate reaction.
all I want from them is to remove getting kicked from singleplayer and actually having a reason to be reported, also no perma bans or if u get perma banned u can pay 5 bucks and play again just with less warnings. like if 2 people report u banned again and maybe just bans from public servers not private realms that u and ur friends made.
I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. I'am now fully on Linux with a MultiMC. Not only that, both java and the laucher as well as the base jar-files are 100% portable. They are also fully blocked from any net access. This means I can play anything from 1.16.5 and lower. But not anything newer. But thanks to a HUGE library of mod-packs I have more content than Minecraft will ever see under my life time. I have modpacks which fixes most outstanding bugs. There are even mods that backports newer content backwards. I even have vibrant retro and classic packs. Surprisingly many of the are better than the newer versions. Sure, no multiplayer. But that is not a big loss for me. I'm now immune to whaterver M$ cooks up in the future. Account migration is totally out of the question. In fact they can do what ever they want. I do not care since they can not touch me in any way. I feel sad for others however. I also feel sad about it all coming to this. But there is nothing I can do about that. But 'Minetest' is developing nicely and there is 'Vintage Story too'. Selling Mojang to M$ was a enormous misstake. But I have learned one thing: Open source; independence from commersial indifference, is a much better alternative. Slower yes, but also free. Free as in free to develop outside of corporate bias. This goes for OS'es and regular applications too. As long as one single person is interested the band keeps marching on. Think about that!
There’s a 4 GB storage limit on the Xbox OS, so eventually you’ll reach a limit with a single world if you’ve been playing for a while. An inevitable limit for crazy builds, and largely explored worlds because there’s some weird storage limit for Minecraft itself even if you have the space on your Xbox 😕
They really messing up minecraft. My minecraft accounts was gone after the migration. I tried contacting microsoft and mojang but both kept redirecting my to the other. This situation is so bad that the microsoft support guy didnt even know what mojang was. And didn't even know anything about minecraft. So ye there goes 25 EUR
As a person who has literally played Minecraft since 2011 I find the chat reporting Infuriating and a lot of other features too but the good thing is we still have the old versions and there are multiple mods that remove these features thank god I still play old Minecraft I don't go past 1.12.2 personally because most mods are made for that version but i am greatful that we can still play versions before Microsoft took over
I think so too, eventhough mojang said themselves that they are getting out of their way to implement the chat reporting system. I think Microsoft is just forcing them to say it like the 'Signed the contract' type of thing and Mojang is taking all the blame. I feel bad for the Mojang employees on twitter getting stormed by comments about the chat report. I do understand that player's safety is important. Just that getting ban across all servers because of 1 thing you said to your friend in a different server is just too much. I believe theres ways to implement these features without getting hate from the player base, but it seems like they wont bother listening to us about this... or forced not to. Overall Great video! and no the script was fantastic, dont be hard on yourself
I have never played Java in my life. I have heard so many good things about it before, but all of this 1.19.1 stuff has been quite terrible as far as I have seen. I played Pocket Edition for most of the time. I have been content with it, but I can see the whole money grabbing scheme here.
Pocket edition has been discontinued for years now you can play any older version of Java, you don't need to play the new one with reporting + there are mods that restrict the reporting
I don't know what people complain about, honestly. Some of these comments are genuine complaints, others is just pure drama. Look at all the amazing updates we had, the villager and pillager update, the ocean update, the nether update, the cave and cliffs update, and many others. Yes, I don't like the marketplace too, but that's no reason to say "Oh, Minecraft is not the same anymore." Yes, it's not the same anymore, isn't this the purpose of updating something, to become something that it was not? Minecraft has a few problems, but nothing to say 'The game has gone downhill" Some people forget that they grow old and things don't seem as "magic" as they used to. Just look at how more open and compatible the game is with add-ons nowadays, we finally have good looking "mods" on mobile. Anyways, Minecraft is just getting better. Also, now we have updates that go along with Java Edition, this is just awesome! Back in the days Java Edition was light years ahead of Minecraft (Pocket edition) in terms of update, well, not anymore :)
My main problem, my ps4 edition ran just fine; ever since bedrock I've had numerous issues. The Microsoft account troubles in the beginning, the marketplace being added, texture packs needing to be re-downloaded everytime I play, and after a long break getting back into it; all of my saves get corrupted for some reason. All in all, I think I'm done with minecraft.
I joined Minecraft back in 2014 with pocket edition, which I still often play on to this day, although I do play on Xbox more. I don’t have a computer, so I’ve really not have been able to play Java that much. I mean, we got big salmon, right?
I have dropped anchor at 1.17.1 and will play that version in the single player world I have from now on, I see the current Mojang pumping out updates just for updates sake and many of the updates only slow the game down and make it way too complicated. I miss Notch so much
well i have a better solution no one uses 1.19.1 and 1.19,2 and use a launcher that basically can make you use your unmigrated mc account like poly mc launcher but what actually happened to mc? it was the childhood game it was the memories game but i'm really sad because all of that is happining to mc and my mc account got blocked because i forget my gmail and i can't migrate my mc account without it we really need to make microsoft stop all of this dirty work
Literally trueee instead of actually fixing the problems with their already existing games, they literally announced a brand-new game. I don't see the point of mc dungeons and whatever this new thing is called. They should just focus on the game they already have if they want to keep their players & fans.
I knew I made a purchase for the full game before Microsoft took over!!! & now I know why! So Java is the original version on Minecraft I paid for, I thought it was Bedrock, now I know. ( they really threw me off with creating Bedrock & it’s in-game purchasing, thank god I haven’t paid a penny for Bedrock! ) I was hoping to finally get back into the game learning you could have one if you already had the other… now I don’t want to touch anything until this crap rolls over… rats!
Is it the end? For some people--yes. As the loss of being able to say what you'd like (within 3rd party terms of services) is extremely disheartening to see completely innocent players who should not be banned being banned for saying swear words or even in a server that can be labeled as 18+ players can still get in trouble with swear words if reported by players. The whole system should not exist as other alternatives were completely sufficient for what they were capable of preventing younger children seeing chat or again, just not giving them internet on their computer or phone/tablet any server directly owned by Microsoft if they wanted no swear words, completely fine (If it's their own server not the whole game) Server's have been around for decades and have created literally thousands of chat filters and other preventable cheats and hacks as to keep the game fun and fair. Microsoft is turning the whole game into a younger audience authoritarian video game only letting younger audiences to actually enjoy the game.
I stated this in the comments of another video talking about this topic, and I'll state it again: "Another case of what happens when you let a multi-billion dollar company take over a popular franchise, they let their own greed and carelessness overtake the needs of the fans, and if you disagree with it, too bad, you are just money to them, voiceless, obedient money, and if you leave them, who among them cares? They can just get another sap to join in your place. Its a sad, but inevitable cycle. If a franchise gets too popular, either they stop caring about their fans, or a cold, soulless company swoops in and ruins it. I think the saying "Icarus flew too close to the sun" fits in pretty well with what I have said here, they get too popular, let fame go to their heads, and then begin ruining everything they worked up to with reckless choices, like selling out, or ignoring the fans' needs."
The things is Mojang themselves said on twitter that they were responsible for this update, as much as I would love to believe that this is all Microsoft's fault (and I'm sure it at least partially is) Mojang at the very least agrees with Microsoft and that alone is enough to convince me that Mojang isn't as trustworthy as we want to believe they are.
Have you considered that Microsoft forced them to say it on Twitter? I've been getting a lot of comments about how it's mojangs fault because of that, but IMO we need more evidence that a twitter comment from one or two devs
@@RandomSageless I have considered this, although it is certainly a possibility I myself would need to see evidence that this was the most likely scenario. Why would Mojang lie? I admit I am not well educated on Microsoft's past dealings with other game studios and such. However, even so I simply cannot see them going this far just to cover up they're involvement and avoid some heat from a community they don't really care about in the first place. Lets assume for a moment they did force Mojang to add this feature, why not admit it? They're a multi-billion dollar corporation, what do they have to lose if the little Minecraft java community (who don't even make them money) are mad at them for some stupid little edition to the game they believe will make them even more money, it's not like its illegal for them to force Mojang to do this, and it would keep the community from distrusting the face of Minecraft's development, at least to some degree. It simply doesn't make sense. Yet here we are with Mojang admitting that they wanted this feature. Perhaps I'm missing something crucial here but from what I can see this is most likely Mojang's fault. If it does end up turning out that Mojang has been forced by Microsoft to say and do these things then my heart goes out to them, but again I just don't believe that this is the case. :(
@@RandomSageless Ok that's stretching it a bit. Mojang is the one who brings new features to the game and I don't see it any other way unless directly confirmed by Microsoft...

After the two hosts see Jonathan adding Mobbo to the game, the same host from before mentions that he “warned everyone about this two years ago.”
Many people in the comments see this video as a “cry of help” from Mojang, and that Jonathan represents Microsoft and Mobbo represents the chat reporting feature. This is further solidified by the fact that “two years ago” was also when the account migration was announced. I don’t have a specific view on this, nor do I think it's 100% true, it's just something I wanted to point out.

It doesn’t matter what worked in 2011 or 2012 lol. It isn’t close to like that now.

@@hrudyplayz dont quote me on this but i've heard form other videos that they might find away to make those mods not work
@@phoenixthewolf6301 They can't.
And because of the small amount of content being added specifically for the midgame and early game, just not going to shipwrecks is like a band-aid on an amputation it doesnt fix the fundemental problem, that after a while going through the same motions over and over again starts to get boring.
death to microsoft
That last part about mojang being lazy is not fully backed up, but I have my sources on the rest of those things

mojang employees have debunked the idea that this is microsoft's doing and instead this was mojang's decision with microsoft providing the resources to go through with it
I have no doubts that Microsoft has influenced this idea, though.

I think Microsoft implemented the chat filter as a precautionary measure due to COPPA.
If they lose COPPA protection Minecraft would be deemed unsafe for childern and that would cause a lot of problems.
RUclips had this exact problem and Roblox gets mass sues bc of it, so i can see why they would think its a good idea to implement it.
very good analysis , i just wish they implemented it better
they could atleast made the feature on by default and add the option for people to turn it off, but what they did is just radio silence for days now.

I noticed this too, simple circuits are now messes of repeaters n torches and seemingly nobody wants to make tutos for circuits modified for bedrock
I remember when people were making a big Bedrock push, they never showed harder to make contraceptions.
I think the main issue with Bedrock is the randomness when it comes to certain circuits. I can see Bedrock Redstone being as good as Java Redstone if people actually tried to learn it.
Repeater ticks doesnt even make sense
Play Java, it's just much better
I think a big part of the controversy, besides alarmism, is because Minecraft has exhibited classic corporate stubbornness and telling fans with suggestions to improve player protection systems that their ideas will never be implemented, and even small private servers with mods or plugins to disable chat report that their existence is considered illicit now. It’s perfectly possible to go have both child safety features and have players enjoy the game without fearing a wrongful banhammer, but for whatever reason the company just does not want to do that.

If it is a single person behind this change, then this is one of the few times a witch-hunt would be an appropiate reaction.
all I want from them is to remove getting kicked from singleplayer and actually having a reason to be reported, also no perma bans or if u get perma banned u can pay 5 bucks and play again just with less warnings. like if 2 people report u banned again
and maybe just bans from public servers not private realms that u and ur friends made.
You can get kicked from singleplayer?!?!
@@sidr8920 Well, yeah. Singleplayer is running on an internal server, that is why there is actual lag in the gameplay sometimes.
@@sidr8920 if u spam in chat to much
@@ArtemSqueaky that's really stupid. You should be able to do whatever you like in singleplayer
@@sidr8920 yea
I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. I'am now fully on Linux with a MultiMC.
Not only that, both java and the laucher as well as the base jar-files are 100% portable.
They are also fully blocked from any net access. This means I can play anything
from 1.16.5 and lower. But not anything newer. But thanks to a HUGE library of mod-packs
I have more content than Minecraft will ever see under my life time. I have modpacks which
fixes most outstanding bugs.
But I have learned one thing: Open source; independence from commersial indifference,
is a much better alternative.
Ouch
higher ups at mojang did this. the "nice mojang" narrative is moot
Microsoft:" were so sad that technoblade died, ANYWAYS COME BUY OUR SPONGEBOB MARKET PLACE PACK FOR 2578 MINECOINS"
Boi shut yo
I missed the old times when in June Mojang cared only about game updates and not rainbow shit
I'm just disappointed that they used Minecraft to advertise rtx so people would buy the series x.... And then never added it
Not to mention the horrible redstone
I have never played Java in my life. I have heard so many good things about it before, but all of this 1.19.1 stuff has been quite terrible as far as I have seen.
I played Pocket Edition for most of the time. I have been content with it, but I can see the whole money grabbing scheme here.
Pocket edition has been discontinued for years now
you can play any older version of Java, you don't need to play the new one with reporting
+ there are mods that restrict the reporting
It would be cool if you could transfer bedrock worlds to java worlds.
I’m glad Techno is not alive to see this. Although he would crusade against it. RIP Techno.
Good point,
back then when a major update was announced, mojang really implemented a lot of new stuff. Now we wait a year for a cherry tree and lightning bugs
I have dropped anchor at 1.17.1 and will play that version in the single player world I have from now on, I see the current Mojang pumping out updates just for updates sake and many of the updates only slow the game down and make it way too complicated. I miss Notch so much
I wholeheartedly believe that if Microsoft could do it without outrage. They’d get rid of Java edition and make everyone use bedrock.
Yeah thats what they mean with "parity". instead of doing it instantly they are slowly boiling the frog making people get used to those "features"
I think the idea of security in minecraft chats is a good thing, I just think it was implemented very intrusively
well i have a better solution no one uses 1.19.1 and 1.19,2 and use a launcher that basically can make you use your unmigrated mc account like poly mc launcher but what actually happened to mc? it was the childhood game it was the memories game but i'm really sad because all of that is happining to mc and my mc account got blocked because i forget my gmail and i can't migrate my mc account without it we really need to make microsoft stop all of this dirty work
Literally trueee instead of actually fixing the problems with their already existing games, they literally announced a brand-new game. I don't see the point of mc dungeons and whatever this new thing is called. They should just focus on the game they already have if they want to keep their players & fans.
Why did Microsoft buy Minecraft for 2 billion dollars? I bought it for less than 30.
I knew I made a purchase for the full game before Microsoft took over!!! & now I know why!
So Java is the original version on Minecraft I paid for, I thought it was Bedrock, now I know. ( they really threw me off with creating Bedrock & it’s in-game purchasing, thank god I haven’t paid a penny for Bedrock! )
I was hoping to finally get back into the game learning you could have one if you already had the other… now I don’t want to touch anything until this crap rolls over… rats!
Yes. Yes it is.
Yes. This is not the end for Minecraft as a whole, but it's the end of Minecraft in the eyes of many people.
THE END IS NEAR GUYS
I stated this in the comments of another video talking about this topic, and I'll state it again:
"Another case of what happens when you let a multi-billion dollar company take over a popular franchise, they let their own greed and carelessness overtake the needs of the fans, and if you disagree with it, too bad, you are just money to them, voiceless, obedient money, and if you leave them, who among them cares?
@@RandomSageless yeah it may just be microsoft forcing them to write that.
@@RandomSageless stop spreading misinformation. this is ALL mojang whether you like it or not microsoft gives all companys it buys complete control and they are known for that.
