I think it's worth mentioning that the visuals in the film were achieved almost entirely by practical effects. It wasn't water tinted with a digital effect, it was 50,000 gallons of stage blood pumped through a rain machine for example. The only thing CGI or digital effects were used for was to add in extra fire or to remove wires and equipment used to make the practical effects.
I actually just realized this myself: I saw it in the first ever audience test screening, in Orange, CA, with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell in the audience with me. In the Japanese edition of Kill Bill vol 1 it stays in colour for the whole of the Crazy 88 fight which also has extra shots in it. There's also extra gore dotted throughout the film. Definitely my preferred version.

Yeah, there's a scene where Ash is being dragged under the house, the camera is pointed up slightly and you can see the ceiling of the studio. I didn't notice it until it was pointed out.

Had to rewatch this review after seeing the trailer for the new one coming out. I still really enjoy 1-3 but 2013 was a different kind of horrifying to me. Still rewatch this flick from time to time. Hopefully the new film will live up to a worthy successor to such a banger franchise.

Having been a heroine addict myself and having gone cold turkey before this movie had an entirely different feeling and meaning to me.... this was precisely the feeling of withdrawal in horror and was an amazing composition. Though I do have wished they could have made it its own thing as opposed to a remake. And thats why I agree with the director probably wanting to do his own thing while Sam rami pulled him back because it did really feel like he wanted to take withdrawal and mix it into horror and it turned into 'Evil Dead somehow. I have just the trilogy on Blu-Ray. I felt a massive horror fan connection when Jay pulled out those disintegrating Book of the Dead DVDs.
That thing fell apart so quick. Knew it would the first time I held it in my hands but I was still surprised how fast it deteriorated.
I’m surprised that both of mine are still intact. Though opened, I have stored them in their packaging sleeves.
Being an ex heroin addict, the thought of the painful withdrawals in this scenario horrified me more than the scares itself. Fucking loved this movie.
