Fun fact for the day, how easy an egg peels has nothing to do with the way it cooks. Fresh eggs are difficult to peel, a week or more old eggs peel easily. That's because the inside of the egg shrinks a bit while in storage.

The thing with toasters if you ask me, is that it all depends on. Is it a cold toaster or a warm toaster. On mine the first time I put bread in it in the morning. I have to set it to level two. However, if I am making additional toast after I've done that I have to set it to one or it burns. So in my experience, whether or not the toaster has been used recently determines how Brown the toast is. A cold toaster takes longer than a recently used warm toaster.

The inside of the bagel was on the cool side. It looks like it would work better with the top and bottom facing each other. That might have been the issue with your English Muffin during the first test.

    Today I'm learning....
In America, Canadian bacon ranges from a perfectly circle slice of ham on the cheap end to a slice of cured pork loin on the more upscale.
In Canada, we call slices of belly meat as bacon (same as American). The circle round thing is ham and the slice of cured pork loin gets a coating in cornmeal that long ago used to be ground up peas but we still call it peameal back bacon.

The timer needs work. They should put a small microcontroller inside. Put in your toast/muffin/bagel and push it down (but it doesn't heat yet), then drop the egg and sausage/ham on the griddle and start the timer. Then as the eggs/meat cook, it turns on the toaster element (timed to the darkness setting) so the bread pops at at the same instant the eggs/meat are done. I have a Hamilton Beach Egg-A-Muffin maker. You heat it up with the sausage party first. Then remove the patty, put in the lower muffin, cheese, and sausage in the bottom ring, drop the egg ring down with the bottom slider in place, crack and egg into the ring, add salt, pepper, and then the top muffin, and close the top, 3:30 later, slide the ring bottom out - dropping the egg onto the meat, then open up the maker (3 levels) and its done! Perfect every time.

I would like to point out, those toast samples aren't a static test. Each time you run the toaster it was able to warm up the wires more and more by having the machine going. For a more accurate test you should let the toaster cool between 'batches' for five to ten minutes just to ensure it was actually back down to room temperature. Otherwise the mechanism was just staying warm and your toast is steadily getting darker and darker

The trick to making eggs peel easier is the ice bath. Putting your hard boiled eggs into an ice bath for a few minutes immediately after cooking makes them easier to peel.

The roasters will work differently if you already toasted than toasting from cold.

One thing the timer probably is good for is that you have to use it for the grill to come on, so it automatically turns it off if you forget.

Keep in mind bread toasting depends on the bread. Breads with more sugars, brioche, wheat, honey wheat, but sour dough takes twice as long. 😮

I imagine the timer is both a safety thing (if you forget it's on) and one that doesn't over-cook your food if you don't get back to it to shut it down. I'd rather have that than nothing at all.

Dial never moves I would see as a good feature I think... If you eat the same type of breakfast every time you can adjust the time for your ingredients (maybe ju have smaller eggs, bigger bacon or vice versa)... so you you dial the time in after a couple days... then it's the same every time... just press the button and it is still the same (dialed in setting for you ingredients and for your taste)...
But ofc if you are doing different breakfast things everyday I would like a digital setting maybe with saved timers... so you have you eggs perfect as you like them everytime and so on...

Dude I love your videos and everything you do, the only thing I noticed with testing the toaster, you tested on the different settings but after setting 1 was used, the time spent taking the toaster up to temperature and then on 2-6 the toaster was already up to temperature. I hope this makes sense, I noticed it happens to me after “repeated toasting” it always seems to burn more

If made correctly these things require more power than a standard American outlet. They’re limited to 15amps because that’s what most people have. 20amp is common in new builds.

My only issue every time you test a toaster is (at least with editing) you don’t seem to give the machine time to cool.
Settings are for cold start, if you’ve been running hot of course higher settings will be cooking too hard.

suggestion for toasting test is to use 2 pieces as the wattage will share the coils for a better even toasting. I've seen other toaster test on almost all single toast one side was always darker on one side but for some strange reason with 2 pieces they toasted more even all all sides and when you did the waffles they were evenly toasted

In defense of the toaster: Different breads toast at different rates. I can buy two different brands of white bread and one will burn at 2 when the other one is perfectly toasted. Something like a wheat bread or a sourdough bread will take longer than a sandwich white.
