We just did the Pomegranate art puzzle "Autumn at Saruiwa" two days ago. It was great fun and what I would call an "appropriate" level of difficulty at only 500 pieces.

Yes! I have done the pomegranate “Do Not Disturb” puzzle. That was a super challenging one but now I have it hanging in my library. So pretty!
Also, the customer service for the the pomegranate company is awesome. One of the pieces was missing and I contacted them and they sent it to me within a week! I was so surprised!

    Ahh. Pomegranate
One of my favourites and I could write much flattering purple prose about them
I've at least 20 puzzles by them including two you mentioned wanting to do. The birds one and the exquisite creatures one, which I highly recommend.
    A beautiful puzzle indeed.
Lovely video and a gorgeous puzzle

I have an MC Escher puzzle from Pomegranate! The print is called "Relativity" and is the image with stairs in all different directions. I really like the challenge of not having any colors (such as purple), which allows you to appreciate all the textural differences you can create in greyscale. I completely agree that spending so much time studying every inch of a piece of art while assembling it can deepen your appreciation for the care that went into creating it.

Just recently found your channel, and I'm loving it! I think it showed up in our feed because we watched a speed cube video and then one of your videos of speed puzzling showed up and I watched your latest speed puzzling championship, and I didn't even know that that was a thing, and now you have me, and one of my children, all inspired to work puzzles! Not doing any speed puzzling, however, I've already bought about 8 or 9 puzzles from marketplace with more purchases to go ...This particular video caught my eye because I can see jigsaw puzzles being used for a lot of educational settings for all subjects, especially for home educators!

Hi Karen.. here in Argentina Pomegranate puzzles are not so easy to find.. i've done a 1000 piece of Gustav Klimt "the kiss", super full of details. Art puzzles are one of my favourites, glad that brands are making more modern art puzzles. And purple.

I am 63 years old and have loved jigsaw puzzles all my life. But, had not done a puzzle in years, until I came across your channel a few months ago. I was amused how much we have in common about puzzles. So went looking to buy some new ones. I did come across Pomegranate and bought three: Mandala Fruit Tree by Paul Heussenstamm, Venice by Olga Suvorova and Untitled,1965 by Edward Gorey, all beautiful and very well made. Now back to Gorey and Purple Rain :)!

This reminded me of the puzzle I bought in Spain of Guernica by Picasso. I bought it in the gift shop of the museum that it’s housed in as a memento, and I thought that it would be unique to put it together, frame it, and put it up. Guernica doesn’t have any purple or other bright colors, just grey scale, but that’s part of the message.

I love the quality of the pieces! I love the box! I love your video on it and I def plan on checking the website out! Thank you!

I know this is an older video but I got excited when it popped up on my feed. I bought (& put together) my first Pomegranate puzzle this year, The Quest for Knowledge. I love it. And I like what the company is doing. I have my eye on several others puzzles.
I’ve always had a appreciation for art and enjoyed taking art history classes. Wouldn’t it be next level if Pomegranate Puzzles came with an audio you can listen to along side doing the puzzle giving you a mini art history lesson on the piece and artist?
[I do recognize that production cost would likely increase the price of the puzzles. I am still curious if it could be managed.]

I suppose it must be about 30 years ago, probably more, that I did a puzzle of the girl in the bar by Manet. It was very interesting to do as the colours weren't as diverse as you would think, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. Sadly, I don't know what happened to it - probably lost during house moves.
    By the way: purple.

Hello, Yes, I do agree for most of your comments. I have done a Thomas Kincade, which I thought it was pretty good quality. I have trouble with dark colors in the puzzle when putting together. Dark colors such as dark blue, black, and of course purple. And yes, when I am putting a puzzle together nothing else gets done.

I didn't study art history in college but I did spend some time in the art department, glancing at the art history slides and thinking, "this would be hard!" I would imagine that you'd see quite a bit of yellow, and blue when doing puzzles of Van Gogh paintings. His art fills me with joy, and sorrow. When I imagine the deep emotional pain that he was enmeshed in, as a result of his severe mental health issues, it makes me really sad. No one understood at that time what was happening to him, and few could see the beauty in his art. That must have been his own private hell. He left the world such an incredible gift, his paintings will continue to move people well into the future. I don't know how much interest in Van Gogh you have, but I'm going to ask anyways. Have you ever seen the Doctor Who episode called "Vincent"? If not, I highly recommend it. Have a great summer, and don't forget the sunscreen!

Just watched your jackson pollack video which lead me to this one. So much fun watching you put together puzzles, esp the purple sections. I can totally see how you get an intimate knowledge of the painting while putting it together. I feel that way about all detailed puzzles. Details that you wouldnt notice before you suddenly see when looking for that particular piece.

I've found several in hospital shops. Not sure if they have them where you are, but in the UK quite a few hospitals have charity shops, usually raising funds for the hospital.
When I do find them I always give at least 10 pounds as they are worth a lot more than that new and it helps the hospital out as well

My number one hint for successful puzzling is sort your pieces thoroughly. I sort by color and use paper plates or cookie sheets to hold the pieces depends on the piece count. This way you can move the pieces so much faster and easier. And then sort, sort and resort. I find I'm sorting alot depending on lighting, tired eyes, etc. Hope this helps.

    Purple -
Yes, I have had the same experience as you described.
I’ve copied famous art works and have learnt so so much from doing so. You might know the image your entire life, but when you have to really look at it, it’s then that you see things that you have never seen before. I think that doing a puzzle of an art work would be another great way to gain greater insight into the artist and their process. A deeper and more intimate way of learning about that particular work.
    Note:
having a code word really works for me ha ha.
I think that it’s a very clever idea, so yeah, well done 👍.
I’m not sure 🤔 why the code word is so effective with me, I’m not a competitive person by nature, but I think it’s me wanting to prove to you that I really did watch the video all the way to the end. I think it’s my way of showing you that your work is (and you are) very much appreciated.
Well that’s my unqualified analysis of the situation anyway lol. Thanks Karen 🙂🐿
P.s I realise that this is an older video but….does the algorithm distinguishing between old and new content?
Or is each video assigned the same “value” by the algorithm?
    I’d be fascinated to know.
This sounds like a perfect question for Hank Green 🤔🐿

How curious! Yesterday I was all over this brand getting lost in all the amazing artwork they have. I ended up ordering two puzzles: Daniel Merriam's "Fish Story" that coincidentally has a purple border and title. Fell for all the bubbles on that one. Then there were Olga Suvorora's "Venice" for its rich opulence and gorgeous dresses. One bearing a puple iris. It was so hard to choose between so many gems. Anyways, being new to puzzles it boosted my confidence in my choice of brand after having seen this review. Thank you and happy Saturday

Karen, please do a video on your sorting techniques. I mean you have explained that you sort by colour and it is shown in this video how you pull out piles of different shades, but I think there is a lot more you could tell us about sorting that would make a whole video and that we puzzlers could benefit from. Also the time lapse in this video is one of the most beautiful you've done.

Famous paintings in puzzles are my favourite theme, but here in Brazil they are quite expensive and hard to find.
One day, I’ll send you one box of a very colourful painting jigsaw puzzle from Romero Britto when this Covid-19 is over and deliveries are back on speed.
His paintings are pretty appreciated here and Grow (the most famous jigsaw puzzle maker here) made a lot of options.
Maybe you can evaluate the quality of Grow Puzzles too and compare with other companies.

I've never heard of this brand, but I'm definitely going to look it up right now. I might even buy a purple puzzle 😉

Yes, I have to agree. I too am really impressed with Pomegranate puzzles!! I normally like to do the wooden piece puzzles, but was given a Pomegranate puzzle called "The Country Dog Gentleman" by Roy De Forest and really enjoyed it. The next one I saw on their website is one I have to get. "Convergence" by Jackson Pollock!!!

I agree with you about the price - IMO, that's inexpensive for the quality. I've also wondered why more puzzles don't come in zip-lock bags. Also, purple.

I have the same puzzle that Sarah was talking about, it looks like it's going to take a while to do.

Sometimes old school companies just have such a quality to their products. I always felt like more purple was used in that painting.

This is a puzzle company in my local area (Portland, OR) and, with the pandemic, it's where all the local game/toy stores are restocking puzzles for curbside pickup. I didn't know about this puzzle company or you before the shutdown (and my progression to complete Karen Puzzles fandom). I am going to buy some from a local business because it's not hedonism or a waste of time these days to buy puzzles, right?!?! It's supporting the small businesses and the local economy! I really liked that one with the purple robe. I wish they had more of the Frank Lloyd Wright designs they appear to have had years ago.

Monet’s Water Lilies was the third puzzle that I put together, it has beautiful purple tones on the painting. I feel the same way, I know every single detail of the painting now.
About the ziplock bag, Four Point Puzzles also put the pieces in a reusable ziplock bag, check it out 😊. Currently they only have “The Moon” puzzle, you may think that it is boring because it is all gray colors, but they are coming up with more colorful ones in a couple of months.

I think the uneven border, purple or otherwise, suggests that they don’t have a cutting die specially made for that one puzzle size - but then again, for specialty makers, when do you have that.

Life in strange. I live in Sydney, Australia and had never heard of Pomegranate jigsaws. I am interested also in art, so yesterday evening I watched your video. Today I went to the charity shop closest to my home and what do they have? The Matisse jigsaw from Pomegranate. There exists so many jigsaws and among the few they have in that shop there is the one you reviewed in the video I watched just a few hours before.

Less than 30 min. ago, I started a 1000 pc. puzzle of Van Gogh's Starry Night. The pieces are tiny, about 5/8" long and the full puzzle measure about 10" x 15". I just might glue this one together. I've never done that before. Oh, and there's no purple in it. :)

I also have 3 Pomegranate puzzles. The first was “Bedroom at Arles” by Van Gogh. Next I bought “Saguaro Cactus” by Frank Lloyd Wright, which is my favorite of the 3. My third one is “Cakes and Pies” by Wayne Thiebaud. That one I have had for 2 or 3 years, but is still sealed. I guess I will have to open it and just DO IT! I also love the fact that they puzzle comes in a ziplock bag. (All my puzzles get put in plastic bags). One more point is their boxes are the thickest of any puzzle brand that I have done. Your video makes me want to get more Pomegranate puzzles, but I am running out of places to put my puzzles. Purple.

Hey Karen, great review. I prefer doing puzzles that I can imagine framing afterward, so I am a bit picky. These look great, will definitely check them out. Thanks! P.S Purple make me think of Royalty :)

Purple….oh and you asked if I agreed or disagreed with anything you said -
I TOTALLY agree that John Green should come over to visit your channel, and/or do a puzzle together with Sarah Green - perhaps a custom DFTBA puzzle.
Oh and thanks for introducing me to Stave puzzles, just beautiful - you could/should become one of their “Puzzle Testers” and given that many people now work from home and via zoom, you wouldn’t have to leave home.
I drooled over the stave website and the puzzle I liked was $6000, made to order.
I would be happy to just be on their mailing list 🙂🐿
