I loved how Hoffman immediately tried to grab the saw, he was ready to saw off his own leg, you gotta give him props for that. I think this was a very fitting way to end his arc, his journey started with his vengeance for his sister's killer, and ended with his vengeance for Jill. Hoffman's own inability to never make anything personal is what got him killed. Great reaction as always :)
EDIT: Also if you noticed, The last person John thought about in his last moments was Jill, and the last thing Jill thought about as she died was John :( just goes to show the one thing that never changed was there love for one another

This is my favourite twist ending in the whole franchise, because this was supposed to be "The Final Chapter" they had to wrap everything up, and they did that perfectly, it makes perfect sense that Dr Lawrence Gordon was involved all along, because while John Kramer was a fantastic engineer and had a huge IQ, he wasn't a surgeon, so it had to be Gordon who performed all of the surgeries Jigsaw need to be done.

It's amazing how early on they planted seeds about Gordon helping Jigsaw if you pay attention. True story, some friends and I were going to go see 7 in theaters (like several of us had done with every movie since 3). One of the friends who agreed to go see it had not seen any of the others before so we all decided to get together to do a marathon in the week before release. By that time we had already seen in trailers that Dr Gordon was coming back and we were wondering how his story would tie in to the greater picture. When we got to the beginning of Saw II, during the opening scene with the guy with the key in his eye, the TV briefly shows a hooded man surgically placing the key. If you pay attention you can see the hooded man limping like he had a bad (or prosthetic) leg. That was the first time I had noticed, I got so excited I had to pull my other friends who were caught up outside to tell them and it gave me even more appreciation for these movies than I already had!

Love your reactions and can’t wait for what you think about Jigsaw and Spiral. The three pigs were Dr Gordon and the other two was Brad and Ryan the guys who killed their girlfriend with the saw at the beginning. That game was set up as Gordon’s first game as a jigsaw accomplice the scene which featured him and John in the crowd was cut out of the movie. This was also intended to be two parts but where the sixth entry brought less money back they sandwich two movies in 90mins. Gordon originally was suppose to oppose Jigsaw after his family was in danger but the producers made him a new apprentice. I saw this in theaters where I was 16 even though I still love it, it kinda shortchanged it’s fans. But Hoffman is definitely the highlight in the second trilogy. Can’t wait for your future reactions! Keep up the great work!

I was pretty meh until I purchased part 5 on a lark and thought it was an incredible way to jumpstart the "Hoffgod" era, and then part 6&7 perfectly played into the shift of the Jigsaw mantle from the moralistic tests of Kramer to the opportunistic murder of a dirty cop. The movies shift from a psychological thriller to a slasher movie with a phycological thriller veneer. Once you accept that Hoffman is a completely different Jigsaw who's no longer trying to teach lessons, but instead just trying to cover his tracks, you can appreciate how dang good Hoffman is at what he does. One of the best serial killers ever, who learned from a master.

I think that’s the reason it took me a while to come around to Hoffman, he wasn’t John and didn’t have his morals. As twisted as that sounds, John still had reasons that were okay by me (although unreasonable in the real world) and Hoffman was a straight up murderer.

Hoffmans character progression is amazing. He was a good hardworking cop, who turned into a depressed loner after his sister was murdered. He was blackmailed into becoming a Jigsaw apprentice, then became a loyal apprentice that followed all the rules. John taught him to detach from his emotions, which was supposed to enlighten him and prepare him to take over John's work, but it instead turned him into a psychpath incapable of empathy. After his face was disfigured, and identity exposed, he just went insane and became a lunatic slasher. John turned him into that monster.

When I first SAW the film in theaters 11 years ago, I cried of excitement with the Doctor Gordon reveal, not Jill's death. However, I didn't expect her to actually die. Regarding the 2 survivors at the end who helped Doctor Gordon, those were Brad and Ryan, the two guys who survived the public trap at the beginning of the film. They were also in that Jigsaw survivor group led by Bobby Dagen, as was William's secretary, from the hanging trap in SAW 6, Emily's character from the Carousel trap in SAW 6, and Tara, the mother from William's test in SAW 6. I, along with many SAW fan's have had their Doctor Gordon theories since SAW 2. Fans petitioned and wrote the studio to have him return to the franchise and he did. I've known Cary since 2011. He may return to the franchise and I hope he does as a 10th SAW is currently in pre-production, so time to watch JIGSAW/SAW 8 and SPIRAL: From The Book Of SAW. JIGSAW is a sequel and a semi-reboot. It's in the same timeline and overall story, but takes place 10 years give and take, the events of the first 7 films as no more than 3 years passed between SAW 1 and SAW 7. The time interval between SAW 1 and SAW 2 would have been maybe 2 years, the interval between SAW 2 and the events of SAW3/SAW4 was 6 months, and between the events of SAW 3/SAW 4 and SAW 7 would have been at most a month to a month and a half. Know that SPIRAL, the 9th Saw, is more of a spin-off than a sequel. The writer are following a Marvelverse approach and making a SAWrvelverse saw to speak. Making a sequel, then a spin-off, then a sequel, then a spin-off, or at least that is the approach theyre planning. A tenth SAW is already in preproduction as the writer Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger announced the other week that theyre on the finishing touches of the script. SAW 3D received a lot of unjust hate from fans. I personally loved it regardless of it's flaws. The blood issue was universal in this film, theatrically and in home. I believe it was a color correction issue as you can tell, the color on the film was different than all the previous ones. It seemed as if a filter altered the usual color pallets of the franchise. Regarding your reaction to the Doctor Gordon reveal, my reaction wasn't much different. I was cheering, but silently not to get myself kicked out of the theater. I was so happy with that final reveal. SAW 8 was initially supposed to come out in 2011 before SAW 6 was released, but though SAW 6 was highly praised amongst many fans, the disappointment many fans had with SAW 5 left them skeptical about seeing SAW 6 in theaters and one of the franchise's best, was one of the least successful films of the franchise, so they decided to consolidate the story of SAW 7 and SAW 8, into one final chapter, SAW 3D: The Final Chapter. I'm glad they brought it back, as beautifully as SAW 3D ended.

The story is a bit all over the place because they condensed Saw VII and Saw VIII into one film due to Saw VI underperforming financially. You can find parts of the original scripts online, but some of the differences I can remember were Bobbys wife being in on his lies, hence her trap. Dr Gordon recruiting a large group of apprentices from the survival group, who all kidnap Hoffman together. Flashbacks to new traps that Dr Gordon and John did together around the events of Saw 2, the opening trap was intended to be one of these. New flashback footage of John and Jill, including a their wedding. All of Amanda's scenes were cut out too. There's plenty more I just can't remember it all. The next one in particular is pretty bad, so don't go in with high hopes.

So many thoughts. So fascinated to see you do responses to films with dentistry in them now. Love when a person can bring their knowledge to a reaction to provide insight. The Whole Nine Yards w/ Bruce Willis comes to mind.
    - This movie really suffered from being in 3D but I think a lot of movies at the time did. The promotion for this movie was more to do with 3D than it being a Saw film.
    - Love the idea that there is like a cult of survivors.
    - The more convoluted the trap, the easier it seems to poke holes in it. True with traps as it is with writing. The last three movies really had this problem. That's one aspect of the original that was so terrifying. Mutilate yourself to live and appreciate what you have left. Now there's giant machines in these seemingly massive complexes that look like it would have taken a fortune and a massive crew of engineers to set up.
    - The reverse bear trap on Jill, while cruel, is sort of a poetic punishment for John's cruel way of "helping" people. It isn't fair, but I feel like that might have been a possibility for the writer's thought process.
    - The return of Cary Elwes was something I feel like every Saw fan was waiting for. Would have loved a little more of him throughout the movie to get the feel like maybe he still could be a victim of Hoffman or woven throughout before revealing he was one of John's secret accomplices. Maybe have Gordon's story fill in the way previous movies did John's flashbacks throughout.
    - Good or bad, it was great having this series of films as an annual Halloween treat for fans. They came at the perfect age for me being a teenager at the time and being able to stomach the gore. I can barely do gore now, though sentimentality helps me manage with my old favorites.
    - While I don't think the writing in some of these is that great, this one in particular, I think this series (and to some extent the longer horror franchises) really made a bold decision in telling stories where one film set something up that wouldn't be answered until the next movie and trusted the viewers would remember it in the previous film. Faith in the audience can make for great storytelling opportunities.
Really enjoyed your reactions to this series. Looking forward to your Jigsaw reaction, though I honestly don't remember the movie that well. Keep up the great work.

My initial commentary at the end I had a good 5 minutes discussing teeth, extractions and osteo-integration and how long it would take to pull off that setup. While editing it I said out loud "god I'm annoying" and deleted all of it. I appreciate that you liked my insight. Saw 3 I had a lot to say about the "surgical setting" too but was like "nope, it's too much" LOL
I haven't watch The Whole Nine Yards but I'm familiar with it. Now I want to critique it :)
The way everything connects by this movie makes me so happy. That loose end of not knowing if Dr. Gordon died or not bothered me. And I'm a believer that if someone doesn't die on screen they are still alive somewhere. It was a gift, it truly was. If I watched these like everyone else I think there would have been some stuff that went over my head. Getting to watch back to back and really watching without distractions and concentrating on them wholly has made it easier to digest and remember details. The storytelling is on point.

I really think you will enjoy Jigsaw. It came out in 2017 and for a seven year gap between that one and Saw 3D, they came back strong. Very good plot and twist was really good in my opinion. They threw in some comedic scenes that I really didn't care for but overall, loved it.

Just a tip regarding YT in general, it's a good practice to not publish as soon as it finishes uploading. It takes a few minutes per minute of video content for the HD to finish processing, so for this vid the first while or so of it being up it is only available to viewers in 360p.
I typically upload as unlisted and then check back a couple of hours later, manually switching over to public once the HD is finished.

Many fans thought that dr Lawrence gordon was a bit lame and based entirely on fans theory but I disagree because:
1-Dr Gordon's mission with jigsaw was only helping him in operations jigsaw,Amanda and Hoffman can't do
2-dr Gordon was never meant to carry on the jigsaw legacy because jigsaw wanted him to pay more attention for his family alisson and diana as it was the reason why he was put in the bathroom trap in the first place whether he cheated on his wife or not
3-dr Gordon can't physically do the traps as he is one foot less than Hoffman and Amanda
And that's why he was kept a secret from the other two

    • @funnylilgalreacts

  • @bobbydontdothat2843
    @bobbydontdothat2843 2 года назад +2

Finally made it to the end! Way to go! So in response to your "Justice for Adam", there is a bit more of a reason as to why Amanda killed Adam and that is shown in the Director's Cut of Saw III which is the third cut of the third movie (lol). Not to be confused with the Unrated Cut, is only available on DVD (not Blu-ray sadly unless you buy the France release), and is 17 minutes longer than the theatrical cut you watched. It adds in a scene that shows Amanda having a nightmare about Adam after he had been locked in there which (in my theory at least) shows that Amanda was being haunted by what she had done with taking Adam in to die and figured the only way to stop the nightmares and guilt was to kill him and put him out of his misery.
As for the 3D, yes absolutely I noticed that the blood was magenta the first time as well when I watched it on my old 4:3 television. However I thankfully bought the Blu-ray 3D version of the movie so when I finally popped it in the 3D TV I finally got the see the color of the blood the way it was meant to be and it wasn't magenta anymore.
This movie was sadly the worst received of the franchise and I would say for good reason. The story with Bobby Dagen felt very weak for me, especially since every single one of his accomplices died but I'm pretty sure the thing that made up for it for all the audiences was the ending where it all came together and it all came full circle and ended with the bathroom and knowing that Hoffman will be the first actual victim to the bathroom who will starve and die of dehydration unlike poor Adam who I guess was shown more mercy by being killed sooner rather than later. The reason for the story actually being pretty bad was mainly because of the producers and what they did to the director. From what I've read, the director was supposed to direct another movie due for Halloween called Paranormal Activity 2; but Lionsgate didn't want that so they contractually obligated Greutert to direct Saw 7. There's rumors that he intentionally made the movie bad as a middle finger to Lionsgate for pulling one over on him so that might be the main reason.
Fun Fact: Doctor Gordon was supposed to be revealed in Saw 2 but there wasn't enough budget to hire him on. The reason you can tell it's him is because of the hobble that the hooded figure (who inserted the key behind the eye) has when he walks over to the body.
I actually got to experience these movies the same way you did, however I would not be able to with the time that I had to wait for Jigsaw and Spiral to come out. That was just freaking exciting to be seeing the trailers and getting excited to go watch them in IMAX when they were being released. Because I had to wait 6 years before Jigsaw came out and then 4 more for Spiral. Both of which I enjoyed.
I'm so glad to be subscribed to you and as an empath, I knew I would be a subscriber and fan of your reactions as soon as I heard you softly say: "Don't close the door" when Kramer was walking out of the bathroom all the way back in the first movie. :)
Can't wait to see your next reactions and much love.

It's a bummer that there were so many production issues. These movies have so much potential to expand. But I do think they have been pretty perfect so far. Yes, flaws here and there, but overall, SUCH AN AMAZING FRANCHISE.
I saw the trailer for Spiral and already new in was a Saw movie without ever seeing them. I think I'm going to like Jigsaw and Spiral because if that fact lol
I'm such an emotional person so I hope if there are movies that allow me to show more of that side, you'll appreciate them as well.

I think the reason why Hoffman had previously said he didn't need to be tested was because he already knew how far he'd go to stay alive. As much as you dislike him for how brutal he is, he is probably the strongest character with the will to survive (and wasn't afraid of taking risks). The ending where he was ready to grab the saw to escape is just another proof of that. Knowing this, it probably isn't impossible for him to find a way to escape, but Lawrence probably locked the door so he couldn't escape the room. He got what he deserved. An unwinable test.
