- Today we go through the simple steps on how to install your new GRP Gated Shifter Plate on the S2 Elise and Exige.
Note: This video does not address adjusting your shifter cable or crossgate cable rod ends. My install worked perfectly out of the box so there was no troubleshooting to show you (unfortunate as it may sound).

This is a fine part. I installed this in my MY2010 Elise 111R with the blue ball stick. The Reverse lock will keep functionally.

Thanks for the video Tony! How's metal to metal contact between the gate and the shift stick? Does it rattle/clank at all during normal driving?
Tony, Where did you get the fire extinguisher AND the cool bracket thta holds it in place? I've been looking for that bracket but can't it online

That's right - this is actually a radio unit that is powered by an iPhone 4s. I'm currently getting a custom double din dash made so this is out of the car and I'll probably be selling it, but it was a pretty unique solution that fit the car very well!
Hey Tony, I would like to do this on my 2005 Elise. The reverse lockout cable that you removed Step 8 @ 2:57, I presume you are still able to go into reverse without that cable? I am scared about that whole part of removing it and not being able to go into reverse then.
No worries! And that's correct, after you remove the cable you'll need to zip tie the lever as I showed in the video. This lever blocks you from going into reverse when it's not engaged, hence why we need to rig it to be engaged at all times. You'll have no issues getting into reverse once it's done!
@@TonyMaples That's what I figured that lever was but I wasn't too sure on what it was. Now it makes sense. I'll have to buy one of these gated shifters. Looks amazing in yours. Idk why the Lotus' didn't come like this stock!? Thanks man.

Tony Maples can this be done or is there a gated shifter console for a 2011 evora ?? I want one !!
my elise 111r has a different type of shifter, the reverse lockout lifts a little rubber piece sou you can move the the hole shifter to the reverse position, do you know if this gated shifter works on my model as well? thank you
It's only been tested on 2005 and up Federal Elise/Exige with the c64 transmission, however from what I've seen there are people installing it on their 111r with minimal work. You should be able to adjust your shift linkages and/or raise your center console up slightly to overcome any issues. There is a link the this videos description to the product page, which has a PDF walk through that would likely help you out. In my opinion you should be able to make it work!

Thanks! These are just the factory 2005 seats I had reupholstered with leather and velour centers. They didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but I'm happy with them for now!
hi i want to remove mine to have it reupholstered its an s3 220 2016 model i can imagine its the same procedure right but without the removal of the gear knob? thanks Dean.
Should be very similar, I've never worked on an S3 unfortunatel, but little changed interior wise!
@@TonyMaples what about buttons etc traction control warning lights are they held in with a spring at the back are they easy to remove and put back thanks Dean.
@@deanmaratheftis5119 the buttons on mine are just typical automotive buttons held in with built in retainers, very easy to remove!
Is it necessary to remove the reverse lockout? From what I'm seeing, it might cause some clearance issue but, I am unsure.
You might be able to get away with it, I didn't test it out personally and I've never had an issue. I do drive pretty spiritedly on occasion, lots of rev matching in the first in tight corners and I've never once gotten close to hitting reverse. There is still also a slight uphill motion in the gear shift to get into reverse, and so even when I'm letting other people drive the car which is very often I don't even mention to them to be careful! Definitely a beautiful piece and fun modification, take some getting used to if you're doing any sort of autocross or serious driving, but it really adds to the spirit of the car in my opinion and it's always everyone's favorite part of the car! Is it possible to accidentally go into reverse now that there is no lock?
It is possible, however while the lock is removed, there still is an uphill push you have to make going into reverse. When I let people drive the car, I tell them not to go into first unless at a dead stop to make extra sure they don't hit reverse by mistake. That being said, during autox and spirited driving when I need to rev-match into first I still do so and haven't had any mishaps!
What are those floor mats/interior mats covering all of the floor and the sides?
That's actual carpeting that we made and installed to help keep the heat down during the summer. Also added a little bit of dynamat beneath it and it made a serious improvement!
What size Allen key? Kind of pointless to gloss over some of these steps, no offense.
