this was very simple! 1. remove 10mm bolt from heat shield, 2. Loosen bolt on end of actuator rod that is on the passenger side (about 3-4 full turns), 3. Remove nut that is holding the actuator rod/pivot ball on the motor (driver side), 4. Stick a sewing needle into yellow wire that is shown in video and connect multimeter, 5. Slide rod off the pivot ball end (driver side) and turn clockwise to shorten the rod, 6. slide rod back on to bolt that connects to motor.
With rod back on the motor, push the rod all the way to the driver side, turn on the key or push start to ACCESSORY (do not turn on engine), and then turn on the multimeter. You will only get the reading of 4.0-4.7 if you have the rod all the way to the driver side. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you get the reading you want. Be sure to turn the ACCESSORY off after each adjustment reading, then repeat.
Once you have the reading you want, tighten bolt at the end of the rod on the passenger side first, then replace bolt at end of rod on driver side (be careful not to tighten too tight), and lastly replace heat shield bolt. After this, with the multimeter still attached, I did one more reading just to be safe. If reading is fine, you are finished and can remove the sewing needle and multimeter.
I am no mechanic by any means and don't want to act like it, but like he said, as long as you are familiar with which parts to adjust, it will take just a short amount of time.
    thanks for the video!

Thank you so much for this video. I tried it today and saved myself a dealership appointment that was gonna be 200$. Only thing you didn’t mention was the car needs to be on accessory but not started to get a good reading from the yellow wire.

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I have a 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T with an identical motor \ turbo setup and have been having this issue generally from a cold start where it would throw a code and I would have to turn the car off and back on to get the turbo working again. I was about to replace the entire Wastegate Control Valve Solenoid and actuator rod. I will give it a try this upcoming weekend and see if it fixes the issue.

Thank you so much for posting this video. Everything makes sense to me now. I went in to have a normal service appointment and they did that upgrade without asking me and my car has been driving like shit since. it has also been throwing that code every since too

Would be very helpful if you used a pointer or your finger to point out items that you described. Only if they are visible.

Do you have to reconnect the rod to the actuator to get the reading? How do you get the reading after you twist the rod?

Hey is this covered by warranty? It says that the waste gate is covered but would this technically be the wastegate actuator and not be covered or is it covered? I want to do it myself but I don’t want to void my warranty if it is covered and it’s the weekend so I can’t get it fixed until after Monday

Well someone did this to a Optima i am working they over tightened the nut on the motor side. Vehicle has 115k and nuts are rusted on the rod and bolt on the heat shield is rounded. Update the nut not only was overtightened was rounded off too and broke off easily No CEL just PO299 stored. Anyone ever encounter this issue and fix with replacement of the motor. I was thinking adjust the rod if possible get correct voltage the put a dab of epoxy at the end of the motor where the nut broke off if its safe. Any opinion is welcome.

Okay, I've watched the video and read the comments below. The video says I will get a reading of 4.6-4.8 volts. Comment below says I will only get a reading of 4.0-4.7 if i have the rod all the way to the drivers side. Repeat 5-6 until I get the reading I want? Well here's the million dollar question, What is the reading I want???
